@revan - If that is the case, and no one objects, I'll go ahead and judge the contest tomorrow. Anyone who wants to do it instead, please let me know within the next 24 hours. I will, of course, not choose my own entries.
No matter who judges the contest, entries will be permitted until 12 AM EST. Though... if you haven't entered since November... -_-;
I am happy to say that this contest is closed. I will be releasing the results later today.
For reference; 1st place - 1 follow and 5 favorites of your choice. 2nd place - 4 favorites of your choice. 3rd place - 3 favorites of your choice. Honorable Mention - 2 favorites of my choice.
I've basically already chosen the winning cards, now I just need to figure out the order and write the post.
In terms of judging, I looked at balance and realism of the card, the art, the formatting (so... all of you with no line spacing or words running off the side of the card... nope), and gave bonus points for good flavor text (though a lot of cards had none due to the effects they had being too wordy). I, of course, did not consider any of my own entries when judging.
@TenebrisNemo - I've favorited this card in the past, and love it... but given how often I've seen it, I didn't think it'd be right to put it in the top three in this instance. So... honorable mention.
@EternalWolf88 - Not only did the original poster of this thread ( @Revan ) already favorite this card, but it's just epic to begin with. A mechanical dragon that is so overpowered, it can't be used every turn but with heavy support. Great card.
In third place - @Lastjustice - This is a great bringer of death and destruction. Truly a dragon tyrant, and it costs enough to warrant that power. However, if an opponent gets too greedy... woe is them who must face this beast for only 2 mana.
In second place - @Frostbvrn - This contest is for all dragons, not just ones that are the size of buildings and breath iron-melting fire. This card is a great representation of that, with power and an anti-dragon bent. Further, if you happen to have a lot of lighting in you hand, she can certainly bring the thunder with whatever other creatures you control. ... okay... that was bad... I might need to hire a new writer... Either way, this was probably my favorite individual card, and I will be giving you a follow as well.
And lastly, in first place - @sanjaya666 - Though Revan stated that there was a limit of 4 creatures, I felt that this set was good enough to ignore that. No individual dragon here is better than any I named previous, but the set of five works perfectly within their assigned colors to make a believable set of dragons I wouldn't be surprised to see in an actual MTG printed set. Great work, and worthy of 1st place in this contest.
And... that's that! For anyone who won top 3, let me know what cards you want me to favorite. For honorable mentions, I'll look through your work later today and pick two each. Thanks to all who participated!
@RayearthIX, thanks so much! I really liked that card too, and I'm really happy how the last ability came out. Pretty nice for a deck with, as you said, "a lot of lighting in hand" and just a lot of creatures too. The cards I'd like to be favourited are...
