Vehicle Subtype "Inspiration"

edited March 2019 in Off-topic Chat
Back in 2015 I made a new Artifact Subtype with MTG Card Smith tools and named it "Transporter" (link below)

http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/598/new-artifact-subtype

It was a kind of card that "carries" creatures and had an activated ability called "Transport" that you would have to pay to carry the creatures you want.

Example of a card I did:

3 - Timber War Plow - Transporter

Transport / Release 1: Target creature you control becomes transported. As long as it is transported, it can't attack or block and it has Shroud. Transport / Release only as a sorcery.)

Creatures you control have trample.

1, Tap: If Timber War Plow is transporting a creature, it deals 2 damage to target creature or player.

Of course the mechanic is a lot different from the Vehicle subtype cards (introduced in Kaladesh in 2016) we have today. Anyway, I was wondering: "Does Wizards of the Coast designers access the MTG Cardsmith looking for ideas and/or maybe just for fun?"

What are the oods that one of the Vehicle designers got inspiration for the new subtype on MTG Cardsmith?

What do you guys think about it? Just as a matter of curiosity...

  • Far as I know, WotC employees aren't officially allowed to look at this kinda stuff. And naturally, with the designers basically having this as their regular job, it'd make sense that most ideas on here have probably bounced around at WotC at one point or another, including the idea of vehicles or a mechanic that'd represent vehicles.
  • I believe @Lujikul is correct.
  • That is correct. WotC employees cannot look at unsolicited cards, so they're not allowed to come to sites like this. I also think Lujikul is right, in that so many ideas bounce around in the minds of people who do this for a living, that it's inevitable some similarities will happen. I also think that's a testament to how amazing our Cardsmiths are!
