Is this mechanic intuitive/good?

I came up with this mechanic I called "Veil". Examples:

Veil (This creature's toughness can't be altered.)

A creature with Veil will always have 1 of toughness. Therefore they're immune to damage, -X/-X, and deathtouch.

First of all, is the wording understandable? The thing is that they need to be exiled, or destroyed, or returned to hand, etc.

Second of all. Some colors like green or red would have it impossible to remove it. I know some colors can't deal with enchantments for example. But creatures? What do you think...

PS: This is my first post ever, so sorry if it's off. I just started creating cards on my free time and a user called sorinjace pointed out that I could join the forums :D

  • Hi there! I'm kinda new here, but I'll take a look at it.
I defiantly think it's a invincibility remake, not trying to be mean, but except for anti -x/-x, it's invincibility again. If you take away everything but the anti -x/-x, it would be a good ability!

Thanks Bowler, I might just change for immunity to damage.
edit: wouldn't that just be indestructible but worse? anyways I'll think about it a bit more
  • Not being able to have it’s toughness reduced just makes it immune to -x/-x effects, as taking damage doesn’t actually reduce the toughness. If that was the case, indestructible creatures would be able to die to combat damage.
  • @Lujikul that is true! Then Veil would only be useful against effects that say: "this creature gets -X/-X" and against -1/-1 counters, right? It's not what I was looking for, but it's extremely interesting.
  • You are correct.

Against such effects it would certainly keep the creature alive, though its power would still be reduced, obviously.
