I give Theyul a smile and cast a spell:
"How 'bout neither of us pull!"
The illusory hand pulls the lever and, with a creak, the elevator begins its slow descent. The air begins to get thicker, hotter and more foul. After a moment the elevator sets down with a slight jolt. The door opens, revealing a decent sized cavern. It is furnished like a gaurd room, with some rations and personal effect. It oens at the far end and is empty for the time being.
The sheriff furrows his brow, "Let us go and confront him together!" The sheriff throws open the door to the office and you find it empty, save for a secret door that has been left open in a hurry. "Yes, that imp installed these secret passages! Follow the tax collector. I will take care of things here."
Pulling the downed man in a dark corner, the rogue goes to open the door.
"After we cure or defeat the tax collector*, I would like some help. The criminals are raiding my shrines."
*Or whoever it is
Sagaz has his staff ready, since he won't be able to dispel another mark.
"Okay, lets go through that opening," nodding to the far side of the cavern, "and check out what's going on here."
