Wow... Now I feel bad about killing her, almost. You made her a funeral worthy of a living human. For that, expect a lot of reward.
  • 48 hours!
  • They are called defense pacts, not aggression pacts. He was sworn to defend either of us if we are attacked. I was attacked. The Fey were not.
  • @HeroKP Thanks! I had a lot of fun writing that piece. I really liked this challenge. I always knew that killing Lady Elta for some crazy ritual was on the table for me, but triggering her death early has really left my kingdom in a lurch, and it's a lot of fun depicting that.

“Do your people plan on striking back?”, replied Tlonakraj. That voice in Slen’s head resonated with cool alarm. Tlonakraj always seemed to keep calm. Shen has never seen him lose any of his calm, and he still hadn’t now.
  • "Plans are still being developed. Towns are being reinforced, farmers are being recalled. We are implementing a blockade along the southern side of our home isle. But so far as I know we have no plans for an imminent counterstrike. We don't even know where most of the fey live."
  • @heroKP I'll be posting my entry as soon as I find the proper art for it and write the story. I've had a lot on my plate lately, so I haven't had time to art hunt yet.
  • Part one of the story.

The battle to retake the land from Dusksnare had had its fair share of ups and downs. Between hunting down the vampire and his thralls and saving what folks had survived, it was proving an arduous challenge for the Flamebearers. But all this hard work wasn't for nothing. The time had finally come to confront the beast himself, this shining example of why the night always a danger not to be trusted.

"You want us to what?!" The board of advisors all stared incredulously at Aishel, unable to believe what she'd said. A tall moustached man is the first to speak after the moments of silence. "Raze the countryside surrounding his lair? You must be insane!" "There are still unevacuated civilians in the area, they'll be put at risk!" shouted a pudgy man.

"And?" Aishel retorted. "They've had their chance to escape. Their insistence on staying on the grounds of their home would've been their undoing, one way or another. It's either death by flames, or a fate far worse serving under Dusksnare. I don't think I have to ask anyone here which option they'd choose."

The group around the table falls silent. "But why, m'lady?"

"As we all know, Dusksnare is a foul fiend of the night, an incarnation of all we stand against. We cannot give him any chances of escape. And setting fire to the land around his lair will ensure he cannot sneak away under the cover of night."

The mustachioed man speaks once more. "My lady, I have agreed to support a number of questionable acts, including the circumstances which brought down your own aunt. But putting innocent lives at risk? This is going too far!"

Aishel glares directly at him, as though she were staring into his soul. "...You are lucky civilians don't come near the windows." A moment of silence. "This meeting shall be adjourned until this evening, where we can discuss plans to take down Dusksnare himself."

Five hours later that evening, the group assembled once again, debating. Although, they were missing a member this time. And he was... preoccupied, beneath the tree behind Aishel's estate. And he'd stay there until time itself stopped.

Talas will bring news of our victory.
    We have found the invader.
But it is stronger than we thought.
    We may need help.

    But we have friends.
    La'ayiv the absolute.
    Jaren the banished.
    Salam the smiter.
    Sastroen the defender.
    Sagaz the faithful.

We will gather them from around the planes.
    And find them.
    And Krystel will be safe.

“We shall hold a house meeting in 10 minutes. Please be present.”
And with that, the mysterious leader dissapeared.
  • @Lujikul

    Just like that, ey
  • The meeting held included the usual members, as of the ruling House: Tlonakraj, Jarkanolt, Asriel and a few other important striders and dragons who had earned a right to be in the House.
Slen was also present, with the Eye overseeing the conversation.

“It seems our allies are now beginning what seems to be a war that shall go on for a while, without special intervention,” said Tlonakraj, as far as the definition of speaking goes. “You should know details by now.”

“Asriel and I have spoken beforehand ourselves,” replied Jarkanolt. “We have a solution to this problem. Asriel has been studying foreign nations. It may be finally time for your colony to interfere in foreign affairs by issueing an ambassador. But not to a single country. Asriel shall become an ambassador to all of Krystel.”

“First thing I shall do is ask the Fae what their business is in aggressing on House Elta,” said Asriel. “If necessary, we shall have to intervene when an attack comes.”

Suddenly, the Ultimate Eye glowed and gazed upon Slen. "War comes to Krystel. It is our job to stop it."
  • @kandra127
Asriel arrived in the Fae territory, and coming across a habitat decided to ask the owner if they could help him find Fae leadership. He was ready for any kind of small trickery the faeries enjoyed, but reasoned they were less likely to mess around in serious times of an impending war.
  • Part 2 of the story.

Several long hours of debate persisted, continuing long into the night. The problem, however, was that each and every idea looped back around to one problem: How do you kill something that's practically immortal? One advisor proposed silver, but that only works on werewolves. Another suggested the classic stake through the heart, though there was no chance of getting near close enough to Dusksnare to do it without sacrificing many forces. Beheading faced the same problem. No matter what, no option was viable.

"Let us adjourn for a while to recollect our thoughts, this is getting nowhere." Aishel dismissed the group of advisors with a dismissive wave of her hand, and walked out back behind her estate, enjoying the cool night air. "Truly, we're getting nowhere with conquering this beast..." She sighs softly as she looks over to the patch of dirt beneath the tree. "You always did have good ideas, Arthur. Perhaps I was too hasty. If only I'd exercised a little more patience..."

Several long moments of silence pass as she ponders, faced with a seemingly dead end. Suddenly, her eyes go wide as she gasps. "Of course! Why hadn't I thought of it sooner?"

Before too long, the circle of advisors was gathered once more, ready to continue the debate of how to kill Dusksnare. "My lady, I believe I may have devised an idea-"

"Silence, Pendrove. I've got the answer. Do you all know what our problem was? We were trying to figure out how to slay Dusksnare himself. We don't need to kill him, merely contain him. The light itself will do the rest of the work for us! The very sun itself is the weapon that will destroy him! We need merely stall him long enough for the dawn to come."

    @Lujikul

    Smart!

I'm still not over the extrajudicial killing of Arthur, though. It seems ruling a nation of lantern spirits really takes a toll on the soul...

But we're not here to be good people, we're here to conquer Krystel! >:)

    It gud, in other words
  • @HeroKP I am here to do both ;)
  • Our friends are with us.

Beware horror of the blind infinities.
    We will defeat you.
Krystel is not to be harmed.
  • 45 minutes!
  • @kandra127 @MemoryHead

Now, normally, you both and @EmolgAn would get the works. Lucky for you, the aforementioned has actually quit because of life reasons, so you're off the hook for now
  • @HeroKP
I was unavailable yesterday. Could I make a card now anyways?
  • @kandra127 Sure, but I will wait until next friday to give you the extra gainz

Guess what time it is! It is outside intervention time!

And this time it is the updated factions on Ixalan!

    The Merfolk led by Jace

    The Vampires led by Sorin

    The Pirates let by Angrath

and the Dinosaurs let by Huatli.

They are about to fight over who gets Ixalan, and they want to duke it out here as warmup.

YOUR JOB FOR NEXT THURSDAY: Make a card that fits within one or more of these factions. Each of the Ixali tribes (me) will then pick a contender they like, and the one not picked by anyone shall get ELIMINATED!
  • This contest was a flash. One second there's still an unimaginable number of you, and now we're down to the final 5. This really was a wonderful journey.

But now, the final stages are rolling around, and it is almost time to determine who gets to join @ASubtleGhost and @Hergusbergus in the hall of fame!
  • edited August 2019
And the contestants for next time are lining up! Please hurry. Also, @HeroKP can I actually just transfer my Beria guys? I really am getting into it. (For reference, Beria is from the Lakas Desolation challenge)
  • @DrakeGladis

Yes, if you can find cards that fit all the required niches
  • @HeroKP Are we allowed to make one card per a faction or one card total?
  • @Axnoodle
The townsman quaked quietly in his boots as he lead Asriel to a clearing in the forest. He didn't know what he was thinking, leading a dragon into a woods filled with now murderous fae. But it might have been stupider still to refuse a request from a dragon no matter how peacful it looked.

"This is as far as I go. Before the war they used to pass through here all the time. But I ain't sticking around to see them for myself." The man turned and made his way back towards the village. He paused, and turned around. "I hope you succeed. Some of them were actually very nice, and they games we played were fun." The man shrugged sheepishly and returned to his trail.
  • @Derain2 One card total
