Story Based Plane

  • @HeroKP I like that, that was kind of the idea, something similar to that or Marit Lage. It is in an area that isn't easily accessible because of terrain change. The cult waits for him to wake and in the mean time hunts down the descendants of the winner of the fight between them
  • @pjbear2005 @HeroKP
That could be a good idea for Iorsiot.

    Well speaking of enchantments...
    Card ideas!
Nrelakwir’s rising: Something about Nrelakwir’s cult reviving him
Iorsiot’s Thunder: Destroy all basic creatures. Or something along the lines of bringing peace to Meogia.

I think we should start making card ideas along with plane mapping.
  • I think this sounds awesome, and would love to join.
  • Before jumping into cards, there should be some mechanics set for each of the guilds right? Is there any mechanic you guys want to work with? Maybe from past sets or maybe from here.
  • @ArmisJoe
I don’t think there are guild that much, but mechanics sound good! I’ll look/think of some.
  • Time counters!

My idea is uisng suspend in interesting ways, instead of just having Suspend N on a card, maybe have things like "suspend target permanent with N time counters".
  • Okay so gathering a bit the info we have:

R:Dragons, Ravage Creatures (goblins, orcs, wolves), Barbarians

Leader: Borothor: A powerful storm dragon whose ancestor is a Genesis Beast (Extremely power creatures that were birthed with the plane)

    Other characters:

    - Vidaneer (R/W): A dwarf that wanders around forging legendary weapons, may or may not be a lesser genesis beast.

    - Iorsiot (R): Genesis beast (Dragon) that has not been seen for many years. Many believe that he could be dead. Legend has it, that thunderstorms are him bringing fairness and equality to the plane (placeholder name: Meogia).

    Antagonist:

    - Radlerin (R): A powerful phoenix that leads a destructive army of goblins and orcs.

    Mechanics: TBD

G: Dinosaurs, Hydras, Dragons, Beasts, Elves

Leader & Antagonist (???): The Many Headed (G): A genesis beast (hydra) that reigns forests of the plane and preys on lesser creatures. Currently has 97 heads.

(I don't know if we have a leader for green but I find SUPER COOL that Green is the antagonist of our plane. Thoughts?)

    Other characters:

    - Garl (G/W): A beast handler that particularly hates dragons.

    - Normailn (G): Garl's beast companion.

Mechanics: Something w/+1/+1 counters very Hydra-ish???

W: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Birds, Dragons

Leader: Prince Harrow - A young leader of a blossoming human civilization.

    Other characters:

    - Ih'grouek (W): Genesis beast (Eagle) that can grow and shrink in size, using this to traverse the space above, and create an army of birds.
    Kerwen, a hybrid white/blue crane

    - Kuldur, (W/B) Raven

    - Feruvim, a (R/W) Phoenix (secretly a descendant of Radlerin)

    - Umgri, a hybrid (G/W) Hawk w/ life-creating powers

    Mechanics: TBD

U: Wizards, Krakens, Leviathans, Spirits, Merfolk, Dragons

Leader: Nrelakwir (U): A genesis beast (leviathan) forced into slumber after a fight with another genesis beast led it to almost die.

    Other characters:

    - Chevele (W/U): An ancient spirit that guides people to try and (insert story goal here).

Mechanics: (Mind control tempo something around those lines since it's a cult???)

B: Demons, Humans, Zombies, Spirit, Cleric, Dragons

Leader: Grabaj (B): Demon more focused on personal gain than good or evil. (This screams male Liliana to me. Also the name omg can we change it? XD)

Antagonist: Brokren (BR): An archdemon that has his sights set on the destruction of all living things. (I smell an alliance with The Many Headed???)

    Mechanics: TBD

    // ---------------

This is is starting becoming something right here.

We need some planeswalkers as well. Unless we want to bring some from other sets.

    (Developing post...)
  • What do you guys think of The Many Headed being the primordial evil in the set?
  • @ArmisJoe

I really don't like the "primordial evil" idea. I loved to play eldrazi decks duting the zendikar and innistrad sagas, and I don't really want magic to have antagonsists at all. Why do you think Ravnica or Tarkir are so popular? There, you can choose.

So I am cool if we give The Many Headed a selfish identity, but let's not have antagonists
  • @HeroKP okay let's scrap the primordial evil, part then. There are a bunch of selfish and neutral characters already.

I'm missing an all-benevolent being. What if we make Chevele good? Since she (rolling with a female pronoun don't mind me) is a spirit we can say she died in war centuries ago. Chevele also attracts followers like Nrelakwir, but she gives them more freewill. Chevele has more of a "community" than a cult.

Also more freewill equals more aggression and less control on gameplay, Chevele is W/U and Nrelakwir is U.
  • @ArmisJoe

To reference Ravnica again, they do have Boros and Selesnya, but even those guilds have a hidden agenda.

I'd be fine with a benevolent character, but only if they are secretly scheming some save/cleanse/purify/raze the world.
  • @HeroKP yeah. Obviously we need a motivation, I'm setting up an archetype to develop on that later.
