Ishka didn’t know what to do. She thought this would be a simple process, but now, she was caught in the crosshairs of an attack on a ship. Normally, this would of been extremely simple, but instead, she got Kia caught in the middle of what seemed like a free-for-all waiting to happen.
“I’m going to the side port.” Teegar decides the fighting isn’t worth it, and no one seems to mind him as he leaves.
“THIRD VESSEL! WE HAVE CLEARANCE TO ASSUME THE VESSEL IS UNDER HOSTILE CONTROL. WE ARE ENGAGING!” Suddenly, demons emerge from the roof of the dock, and cannons emerge. The dead passengers and crew on board the corpse carrier are unable to stop them as they fire upon it, and the ship quickly sinks.
Meanwhile, Ishka decides that there is too much heat in the area to safely remain here. She guides Kia out of the area, but sadly, they have garnered severely unwanted attention. Out of nowhere, a black cat with demon wings intercepts Kia. Ishka rushes in to aid, and carries Kia to safety. The demon cat pursues, and the Spirit Chainers notice. Some of them pursue the angels, and one of the demons on a cannon notice them fleeing, firing upon them. The cannonball nearly strikes Ishka, and they fly away faster...
Ishka lands with Kia behind a large rock in the woods.
“Is anyone following us?” Kia is visibly scared, and while she doesn’t want to show it, Ishka is scared as well. She doesn’t want to fight.
“We should be fine. Come along.” Ishka and Kia begin to fly away, not noticing that the demon is right behind the rock. Taking its chance to attack, it lets out a demented roar, and a plethora of ephemeral hands erupts from its mouth, and attempt to take hold of Kia.
“Kia!” Ishka attempts to attack the demon, but its aura is so powerful that her blade does nothing. The hands grab Kia, and she is dragged towards the cat, her essence draining away. Ishka casts a spell on the demon, but it’s to no avail. It laughs as Kia’s spirit begins to be torn from her body, only feet away from it. With no way to defend herself, Kia is left with only one choice; she closes her eyes, and says a prayer.
Kia’s soul is ripped from its shell, and she is afraid this may be the end. However, suddenly, a radiant light beams through the sky, and the hands recoil from Kia. She returns to her body, and draws her sword.
“I don’t know who you are, but you have laid hands on a demigod! I’ll make sure it never happens again!”
With a mighty slash, Kia’s blade glows with light, and it shatters the seemingly indestructible force surrounding the demon. A gash is left upon it as it falls backwards, and it backs away, hissing.
@ThatOneCat You took one damage. You may choose to attack again, or you may flee.

@EmolgAn@ElMagici Both of the profiteers knew too well that it wasn’t worth the hassle to start an argument or a fight. All goods relevant to Mastiffa’s inn were given to her, and she heads back to Yrntrn with her scouting party. Meanwhile, Alyssa and the rest of her crew rests. Tomorrow could be a big day.
@EmolgAn You decide that the best way to get to Descour is to go around Etsane and to the north. Sure, this means you’ll have to anchor in the middle of nowhere, but as long as treasures await, there’s no time to waste.
You anchor at the North shore of Descour and rest for the night. The entire night, your dreams are filled with visions of great fortune and power. You, braving the whirlpool that once took your crew, and nearly your life. You, finding treasures beyond comprehension, and sitting upon a chest full of gold, staring down upon your pillaging empire from the top of a treasure hoard. The workers at Nutheport running by your command. Your allies in positions of power all across Etsane. And there is not a single boater on the sea that doesn’t fear your vessel. They would much rather go overboard than even think about crossing your path...
You awaken. The whispers continue in your ears, and guide you to meet a woman, standing at the end of your dock ramp.
“So... you are Alysssa, yesss?” She holds onto a staff, barely able to stand. “I sssee... that coin in your posssession. You must be here to ssseizzze you dessstiny.” This woman... her voice sounds just like the whispers of the coin. “Come with me. My massster wishesss to sssee you. He hasss in mind for you, a great gift of power. A grrreat deal of fortunesss! The onesss that filled your dreamsss as you ssslept. It wasss my fortune to you; your future, if you choossse to acccept it. Pleassse... feel free to bring your crew along.”
Choose what you will do next: A. Continue with the hag and your crew. B. Continue alone. Your crew doesn’t know about the coin. C. Question the hag. D. Refuse to go with the hag.
@ElMagici With the beverages secure, you make your way back to the inn, and it’s almost morning. The grand opening of your inn.
“Erm... Madame.” One of your elf slaves comes to tell you something. “I know you are brilliant and beautiful as you are, but the people around here aren’t too keen on giving service to a demon. If you plan on staying here any significant amount of time... you’re going to need a glamour.”
A glamour... yes... You didn’t think about that until now, did you? Everyone here knows who they’re working for, but the customers may not want to be served at a place ran by demons. However... you could probably secure more “willing patrons” that way.
What will you do? - Get a glamour (appearance changing magic) to disguise yourself while you’re working at the inn. More customers, less rituals. - Don’t get a glamour. More rituals/pacts, less customers. - Don’t actively partake in the running of this business. You will be called upon if something comes up.
Draundr walks up to Lilith and whispers in her ear, "What can you offer to help us on our journey, and also, do we have to bring him?" Draundr points casually to Danny
Xataxji goes to continue onward, and Rafael follows to try to meet him. Rafael hopes Xataxji is willing to listen to him. Both he and the demon have great power, and it would be a shame if either of them had to waste it here.
“So... how much further?” Ugalon says as the group gets back on their nightmares. They will grow weak soon, so it’s best to take advantage of them while their power lasts.
”You are getting close. Patience may be a sickening virtue, but where you must go is not mere footsteps away...”
“Ji! Hold up. We’ve got company.” Ugalon and Xataxji turn their nightmares to see Rafael, holding up his hands as a sign of peace. “Well, don’t you seem a little out of your element here, little angel?”
Rafael bites his tongue. He can’t afford to say anything rude or spiteful, so he slowly walks up to the demons, hands still raised, and prepares to explain his situation. The mimic suddenly springs to life, but it’s too far away to catch Rafael. It only takes a moment for Xataxji to realize who he’s looking at; being the leader of the angels, Rafael is notorious among demons.
“So, he’s that Lord Arbiter dude? What in damnation are you doing all the way out here? Baby face land is southeast.” Ugalon prepares to draw his sword, when suddenly, a voice fills the heads of all three people.
”Rafael is here on business. Allow him to accompany you, and listen to what he has to say. Ironically, he came here looking for allies among you two, not enemies.”
“That voice the same one whisperin’ to you over there, master?” Xataxji confirms this. “Well... if my master is willing to trust whoever this is, then... I guess you’re fine, but I’ll be keeping an eye on you. And remember. Xataxji eats your kind for breakfast.”
As the demons advance towards the temple, Rafael does his best to not blurt out his concerns, and why he needs Xataxji’s help. If he says one wrong word, the demon could die...
"Who's your master ? I'll follow you because I want to know what gift is proposed to me....but I want to know if I need to go with my crew or not.... I'm sure you can understand that....."
@EmolgAn “Very well... I think the more the merrier. Your entire crew could be granted power beyond reckoning!”
You leave the ship and follow the fortune teller with your crew. Practically no one sails in the north due to the cold temperatures and lack of ports, so your ship should be safe as you make your way through the vast deserts of Descour.
// I am awaiting other players’ actions before I write up the rest of this bit
@EnvyReaper “We might not look like much, getting trounced on by that spider, but we aren’t mere adventurers, that’s for sure.” Lilith opens a hidden pouch in her cuff, and removes a golden ring with a fox crest on it. The crest of King Foxwald the Adventurer, an old Ystherian king that stepped down from the throne to pursue his own personal matters. She’s royalty! “Lilith Foxwald would be my full name. You may not know much about us, but my father set out to explore everything the world had to offer. However... when he made a pact with a strange man to never age, his life was taken by an angel. I seek to find who killed him and why. I think... we’re somewhat united by a cause. Plus, I could show you the quickest way to get to anywhere. Other... than Aranis.”
When you make mention of Danny, she chuckles. “That’s my apprentice... for now. He probably won’t be for long at this rate, but at minimum, he may be a serious coward, but he can actually fight! One day he actually killed a demon, if you’d believe it, so he’s definitely not useless... just a scaredy cat that complains about everything.”
@Pepperoni That was a near miss. As you make your way down to the side port, you remember the intimidating appearance of that lich Treyble. His presence petrifies your soul. His wicked aura of death controlling the dead and dying.
Your crew carries the corpses to an eagerly awaiting Treyble. There is so much blood... talon marks all across many of them, viciously struck down by some kind of giant bird. It must have been a massacre; why else would there be this many corpses with the same identical injuries?
“Muahahahahaha!” Treyble is shocked to see this many corpses coming in. “I knewwwwww you would deliver! And all you took was an arrow to the knee? Fascinating!”
The corpses have transformed into werewolves with the setting sun. Now, you will see the true extent of Treyble’s power in enslaving even the most savage beasts. By the agreement, Treyble will keep fifteen of the wolves, and you will gain ten as allies.
While there is no denying the shuddering thought of working with werewolves, despite their affliction, they are perfectly cooperative, even at the peak of midnight. They are quite powerful, and should be incredibly useful if you were to ever get into a scuffle at night.
“Yesssss... this is quite the awesome sight... mankind has grown to fear werewolves. No one who faccces you at night will ever think about facing you again...”
With a significant expansion to your crew, it’s time to set off. Treyble will use your spirit lantern to contact you if he has any more jobs. In the meantime, what would you like to do next? - Investigate your death - Try to find your allies - Look for side work
"Very well then, now, about the route, the person we are tracking currently are one of six different angels, his name is Kerial and he is a manticore. We know he is in Hitcherald right now and have marked him so we know when he is nearby, but he is fast and will be tricky to catch if we don't get to Hitcherald soon enough, you can see where I am getting at." Draundr said to Lilith Foxwald.
@tommia I had planned to look for my allies but, now that you mention it. Am I still broke? I'm too deep in this game to leave this body and I have to eat something that doesn't make me vomit.
“Well, let me flex my science muscles.” Jessica overhears the conversation and comes over. “The speed of the average... manticore... we only have myth to go by on that one! Manticores are said to be capable of going... over 120 kilometers per hour... how are we going to go that fast?!”
“Maybe we tie a spider to a string and dangle it behind Danny!” Scarf laughs. “He’ll run faster than you’ll believe if he’s running from a spider!”
“Well, the only way I’d see being fast as a manticore is...” Lilith thinks, when she remembers something. “To be... a Manticore... wait! That’s i-“
“Now hold up. I’ve seen some pretty fast critters in my lifetime. Wereravens... they can fly faster.” Rusty cuts in.
“What are you going to suggest next, guys?” Scarf was kidding, but now things are getting ridiculous. “The power of flight? Skydiving? Teleportation-“
“All three of which are very much possible-“
“Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa! Who said we’re going anywhere?!” Danny starts to flip out.
“I did!” Lilith asserts her position as commander of the group. “And we need to get going if we plan on doing a damn thing!”
Hm... there was some legitimacy in one of those ideas. Would you like to head straight for Hitcherald, or find a way to get there faster? - If you go straight to Hitcherald, you won’t have to worry about delays, but without a glamour, Draundr’s appearance may draw suspicion. - Shapeshifting magic, in the form of Glamours, is very much a thing. You could collect the resources to make them. - A less powerful glamour could be purchased for Draundr to disguise as a human. Then, you could take a civilian vessel from Slavport to Hitcherald.
@Tommia (Can Rafael just give the message via scroll like a sort of poem? You know like a riddle or something like that. I mean he was also from a library, he naturally brought some scrolls and something to write with him, or he can just magically write the message down with magic tbh.)
// @sanjaya666 I forgot to mention other forms of communication. Telepathy is also a no go. If you could word things in such a way that it isn’t direct, writing could work; otherwise, the words will fade off the paper, and the paper will crumble before anyone can read it,
@Pepperoni Your stomach begins to growl again. Teegar sure gets very hungry, very quickly. Hunting is out of the question where you are, and you have not a single G to you or your crew’s name. Some of the more living members of your crew are starving, so you’ll need to get food somehow...
You can either go to Delvad, Descour, Northern Padetra, or Racrion to hunt, or you can go to Etsane, Ystheria, Nasita, Southern Padetra, or Yrntrn to look for a side job.

Forgot to flip for Joseph, Arlin, and Konrad
P.S. To those concerned about why Joseph is flipping a coin for action... he’s a spirit, so technically he’s still alive, just... not human
