Gnash sends out groups of Drones that are clearly unarmed to the Darkworld Hordes. They are led by Drones on undead horseback, and obviously stand down if and when confronted. They obey all orders given, except those that world harm Gnash and her efforts.
Whenever confronted for the first time or asked their purpose, one leader will immediately and mindlessly speak in a booming, raspy voice, "We have been sent to you as an offering of peace from our grand leader Gnash. As she is the Herald of Death, we hope that our similar tastes and interests can and will lead to an alliance. We will serve you and together, perhaps, we can dominate this plane and create a glorious world littered with the souls of the undying, the wonders of complete control, and the beauty of the immortal."
The two lead Stargazers look over the map, the air tense and pensive.
"We are trapped, my lady. There is nowhere to go. The closest unclaimed areas of land are to the south and the west, both beyond our neighbors."
"Yes, Chulane, I can see that just from looking at the map. You've been full of ideas lately, any brilliance to get us out of this situation?"
He silently gazes over the map for several long seconds and sighs. "I am sorry, but I do not. Perhaps we simply maintain calm and trade with our neighbors? Hope an opportunity presents itself?"
"We're locked in. There will be no opportunity, unless we make one. Prepare for an attack."
"If you're certain, but... who should we strike? Perhaps the Rangers, or the Poets-"
"The Astral Peoples."
Chulane can hardly express his disbelief. If he'd been drinking tea, he'd have spit it all over the map. "Serise, is that some kind of joke? You can't possibly be serious! They've been our allies since the start, and now you want to attack the stars themselves?!"
"Calm yourself. The simple fact of the matter is that we need territory, and theirs is the most convenient. And if they truly are the stars, the objects of our worship, then they will forgive us, their most devoted acolytes, for attacking. After all, the love of the night sky will spread the same nonetheless. But if they don't forgive us..." A dark shadow crosses her face. "Then they are heretics. If we are not forgiven, then they will be deserving of eradication anyways, as those who abandoned the constellations!"
Chulane takes a step back. "You're insane."
"No, I'm just willing to do what it takes to ensure our survival. If they're truly of the stars, they'll understand. Now, prepare our troops. We attack at daybreak, with the second Celestial Might."
Chulane exits the room wordlessly, as Serise gazes out the window.
"...Those who have deserted the sky have no place on this earth."
"Luna, Ren, they’re sending meteors! Our fleet can’t handle much more! What do we do?” Luna stared at Ren. ”War or Peace, what’s it gonna be honey?" "We must do what we do best." Luna turned back to the informant. "Tell the fleet to organize a teleprize. We need to vanish until this ends. "Yes, Luna ma'am." It was not 10 minutes until all traces of the astral peoples were gone. It was only a day after that until the shower was over and they were back.
I actually don't want to win this, so that I might be able to play again. My best case scenario is to come second. (I actually think the evidence points to me being eliminated this turn.)
I don't have too much time, but here's the rundown: After plunging into the catacombs, the Children settled the floating island of Revelahk beneath the thrashing waves, further out, below new ground. There they found vague, ancient tales and secrets that provided them with insight into what the future could hold.
1. The Rangers of Jack have attacked! They went after the Children of Ruin, but the children responded from under the water, and with more piety than expected. In fact, it is them that won the battle and are now charging across the savannah with whatever land-based troops they still have.
2. The Stargazer Society has struck, as we have all seen. Because the Astrals all evaporated, no serious damage could be done, but the society did take some frontier land. The Astrals also dropped off a bit of soil from other planes into the ocean, and created the new island you can see.
3. The Poets of Saklinan also did an island! This time by writing epic poems and weaving together such tales about the land, it became true.
4. THE SOUTH HAS ATTACKED THE NORTH! Settlers from the Webfolk and Clan Nelthoren have landed on the shores of the northern continent. They attacked the Darkworld Hordes with extreme ferocity. The drones from Gnash mitigated this to some extent, but a lot of damage was still taken.
Now, tension is higher than ever, so we shall have the ceremonial, omni-seasonal, WAR! WAR! WAR CHALLENGE! Right now, everyone (except @AxNoodle, whose problems we shall tackle in a bit), has a good reason to punch someone else in the face. @spookoops and @SteampunkDragon are warring in a truly empirical fashion - fighting over the west. @Lujikul and @ThatOneCat are doing their.... thing, (unless you are willing to end this diplomatically, in which case you have to portray it on cards), and the Northern Darklings ( @Mantis17 and @SammySammyson ) and the Southern Leglings ( @KorandAngels and @IzItTru ) are having a good, old-fashioned brawl. So, to summarise, the challenge is DO YOUR THING!
***Now, @AxNoodle, because of your peacemongering, you will be given a special assignment. For you, trouble came not from without, but from within. An insurrection. The magic word is being corrupted. Bats fly from house to house with propaganda against the spells of poetry. What will you do to combat this blasphemy?***
THE ONE WHO DOESN'T DEAL WITH THEIR THING WILL BE ELIMINATED!
*And in the midst of all the thing-doing, a hooded figure is seen. He descends from the night sky. He visits taverns, but leaves no signs of his presence. You try to ignore these rumours, but one day, the strange sorcerer appears in your territory, offering to perform a deed if your gift pleases him the most. He says his name is Evyn. Will you take him up on his offer?*
CLARIFICATION: This is a side event. You may create a card for this extra challenge, and the best of those will grant the winner points, but it is not mandatory.
Gnash is infuriated with the barbaric attack on her and the Darkworld Hordes. Utilizing the already-mobilized troops within the Hordes, Gnash launches what she refers to as an "Annihilation Movement"–a forceful attempt to gain control over the minds of her opposition. Her Drones will spread word of her glory to others, and the undead will mercilessly slaughter those who show even the slightest hint of opposition to the mind invasion.
Her energy has dwindled, and any success here will be exhausting for her. She is determined to take over this plane alongside the Horde, but she is draining herself far too quickly. As her ranks grow, so does her raw power, but she's spending it far more quickly than she is receiving it.
As she beings issuing out orders, she's met with static-like feedback. As she continues to force her message onto her subjects, she nearly passes out. The command goes through, but she needs rest. She's been pushing herself far too much since she entered the plane.
The below card is the submission for the challenge. The next is one made to represent her worry in whether she can keep this up or not. Because it's something happening to her, and not something she's doing, it's outside of her colours and just a supplementary card. Thought about doing something green since it's the common enemy of blue and black, but I loved the design and it accurately represents her fears of failure. Yet, something may also come out of her downfall–good or bad in her eyes.
Gnash finishes giving the command. She faints immediately, leaving her Drones and the new recruits effectively on autopilot until she recovers...
As The Children of Ruin encroach further into Ranger territory, Jack and his advisors quickly understand that something must be done to slow their progress. Jack discusses his options with his war marshal, Jonny Haymaker, and figures the best course is to hinder their combat tactics.
Vsi-Tharah stood overlooking the sea, the boats had been launched and the archers stood with thier bows ready. It was the tenth day off the invasion and thing had changed, after yesterdays battle when the clans were collecting thier dead they discovered exactly what the horrors had been working on. The corpses of both sides had risen and began attack the scouts. The abomonations had at first taken them by suprise but after some experimentation they found out that buy burning the corpeses of the dead they could not be revived.
The Marked One was pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of bowstrings as the archers released thier arrows. The flaming arrows streaked through the air and landing striking the boats on the side and igniting them, the Clamsmen stood o the beach watching the bodies of thier dead burn over the sea.
"They are with the ancestors now" Reyhar chieftan of Clan Tho stood behind her putting his bow away.
"The horrors of this world have desecrated the dead" Vsi-Tharah said turning to Reyhar "They have disturbed their sleep with the ancestors and for this they will pay!" she started moving toward the camp Reyhar stood up and followed her "We have momentum let's not lose it"
The Council of Webs assembled, but this time in Alas' Cavern. "We are in danger. The north is resisting our efforts" Said Kuk'ta. "Our colonists in the north are holding out." Said Al'a. Some people of the Empire turn themselves to dark. In the past some fools just like them wrote and made a mark. Now they shall listen to all the tales, the battles made of old, The Power of the Evil One. How dark Sagas took hold.
(We show them what happened to the last people that did this. They nearly destroyed our plane, as dark and chaotic use of loremagic is dangerous.)
