  • NOW THIS IS AN INTERESTING ONE.

    @Tommia vs @Faiths_Guide

The gates of the stage open once more. Ytsix (tommia) enters looking everywhere and everyone in awe, clearly excited yet afraid. Faiths enters second, looking straight into their opponent. As they analize each other, two cautious characters stare at each other while formulating the most effective course of action.

The masters look at them bored, "KILL EACH OTHER" they scream as they grow impatient for violence.

Both of them get the message and crack a modest 1 treasure each. Ytsix, covers his hands in red mana as he prepares for a strike and puts on his googles. Faiths does the same with blue mana.

The masters throw an excesive amount of objects for them to grab in hopes of seeing blood soon.
    imageimageimage

Neither mage pays attention to the weapons, instead, Faiths simply runs into their opponent's direction, breaks a second treasure and imbues his hands in green mana, casting a self directed spell. Ytsix reacts, he knows he stands against a powerful opponent with mere alchemy and artificing, but he remembers a trick he learned from his father. A device on his waist converts the energy from a chemical reaction into electricity to power his augmented right hand, and it opens. Hoping to catch his opponent off guard, he waits for them to cast the spell, then cheekily fires off a disorienting bolt of electricity. The bolt actually didn't cause much damage by itself, it was merely to cause chaos and break the spells focus, making the threads of the spell to stretch, move, flash and bounce around until finally landed on Ytsix (I'm not kidding, I actually flipped a coin)

    image image

"It worked! so... What's this?" He asked himself as he felt a powerful rush of speed and fluidity in his movements.

Faiths rolled their eyes as they saw Ytsix's inablity to use the pump. Faiths grabs the bracelets thrown at them before and gets in a defensive stance. Ytsix runs towards
them and starts attacking, given the nature of the spell, Ytsix manages to hit Faiths in the ribs a couple times but they also get hurt a fair amount by hitting the bladed ends of the bracelets. This is enough to make him stop, the spell eventually wears off and both are left with only a few wounds.

Seeing the careful stances of the fighters, and their unwillingness to spend large amounts of mana. The masters, open vents on the arena and fill it with a weird substance charged with particles of mana, Faiths tries to recast their original spell but Ytsix acts faster in a more potent version of his original spell, he uses his device as a channel and transforms the mana infused substance into a powerful arc of electricity that shocks Faiths and inmobilizes them, making them lose control once again.

Pleased, the masters open the vents and dramatically increase the mana flow in the substance, this overloads Ytsix's device and creates a burning arc that chars Faiths's clothes and leaves their skin deeply burned. The device eventually explodes, hurting Ytsix as well. The cruel move by the masters puts the most malevolent smile on the spectators. Ytsix looks at Faiths considerably more damaged than him and knows it only takes a final blow to kill him; closing his eyes, he gives the final hit and tries to finish their suffering as fast as possible.

Tommia wins the match! This was one of the hardest interactions to make. Both spells were very well designed but ultimately I had to give Tommia the win.

Tommia, you get two favorites, you may spend them in the store as well!
  • I don’t know how, but I did it :3

As much as I think buying Scrap would be a smart idea, I have a feeling I’ll need the Lotus token at some point...

In the meantime, Ytsix will be repairing his arm for the eleventh time this week.

John got a good look at the fallen mages before they were dragged off the arena floor. If he was going to save them later, he needed to know what they looked like. Nothing like going back in time to save a planeswalker.
  • “We... don’t get to go home, do we?”

A great plethora of parts and tools lie strung across the bleachers as Ytsix tries to create a new prosthetic arm.

“This is the eleventh time this week. So... what went wrong this time?”

He gawks at the energy converter in the destroyed prosthetic and realized that it overloaded. But how? A chemical reaction from a few gold coins shouldn’t of produced that much mana. “This place sure is weird...” Ytsix thinks to himself as he accidentally gets a whisker caught in his new prosthetic.

This is a physical representation of my combatant, it has no real story involvement, but whatever.

    Musa: Aged 36, Veteran Soldier/Samurai
After a life of combat that he never asked for, Musa, always seemed to find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He never liked fighting or war, but he knew when he was good at something. And, soon it took notice that others saw his prowess as well.

Always trying to be hired as a mercenary, Musa would always turn down the offer. But, that never stopped thugs from showing their faces, trying themselves the better, and always failing.
  • Well, that was surprising... Congrats @Tommia!

    This is my mage.
John Tremaine: Age ???, Master mage and Veteran of The Dragonform.
John tasked him self with gathering together the greatest mages in the multiverse, to create a sanctuary and training center for those with the gifts of magic. He is a very ancient being, half man, half dragon, with a mastery of most of the aspects of mana. He traveled to Phyrexia following the essence of a budding mage. It turned out to be a trap set by The Masters, and now he has no choice but to fight in their arena. He hopes that he can save all of the slaughtered mages of he can succeed the tournament.
  • @Faiths_Guide I was surprised too. I was pretty sure I was going to get the guillotine on round one once I saw I was paired against you XD
  • Sorry, Didn't realize I had been invited.

Since I *freaking suck* at anthro apparently, I just decided to look for artwork for my character. Sure enough, I found something that works. So. More details, and for those who didn’t see the beginning, his bio. (This is just for fun, and not an entry)

    Ytsix, Alchemical Artificer

    image

    Gender: Male
Age: ~206, biologically 25 and might be aging backwards
Hometown: Genos, Hyperbase, Plane of Tommia
    Race: Leonin
    Occupation: Artificer, Alchemist, Mage
    Favorite Food: Lobster
    Favorite Drink: Butterbeer
Biography: Ytsix was a young man that had a knack for magic. He had invented many different forms of mysterious devices (including an age-reversing machine and an alchemical superweapon that destroyed the lab he built it in [and the city it was in]), but he strives to invent something that had become impossible to make since the Mending; a device for planeswalking. Son to a planeswalker, he was upset when he found out he didn’t have a spark like his father. So, after 51 years, he had finally created a working prototype, and was so eager to test it that he forgot to check the planar trajectory. Activating it, it exploded, creating a rift in space-time that lead to Phyrexia. While no one on Tommia knows where he went, they used his research and over 125 years of refining to create an operational, not-so explosive device.
  • Sorry, was busy with uni.

The next fight took some time but the gates eventually opened.
Nahri ( @drakegladis ) enters looking for their opponent, when @TenebrisNemo leaves the shadows of their gates, they are already selecting their treasures and begins to crack them for Azorious colored mana. Nahri, seeing Tenebris has already gathered mana, quickly sprints into a more generously distanced position.

Tenebris doesn't hesitate and summons a bright angel that doesn't fully let its glowing wings open, in fact, it seems the angel hasn't become tangible yet.

    image

As Nahri calculates his mana, he realizes the angel can't be resolved without more mana, otherwise it would become a pool of mana on the ground. Nahri breaks four artifacts in Golgari colors, raises their right hand as if ready to throw a spell and runs in an angle as if trying to dodge the angel in their way. This causes Tenebris to break their last artifacts and resolve the angel, wich opens its wings in a blinding light that covers its master Tenebris.

Nahri changes direction and now heads directly into the angel, the black and green mana transform into a two-way channel between the angel and themself.

    image

The channel extracts the angel's power and leaves only a window of seconds to realize Nahri has gained all of the angel's lifeforce for themself. Nahri jumps on top of the weakened angel and grabs its neck extracting energy at an even faster rate. Tenebris knows its misprediction might have cost them the match at this point, so they use the remaining mana of the angel's composition to make it explode into a bright schockwave of light. This only slows down Nahri's attack, by the moment Nahri recovers from the flash, Tenebris has already kneeled, exposing their own neck.

Nahri sees an easy kill. But the masters don't like anticlimatic fights, so they open another resource to add to the show. The same weird mana-infused substance from last fight floods the stage, but this time it takes shape.

    image

Did the masters want the mages to fight the thing together? Did they want them both to die? Whatever the answer may be, the mana in the enviroment meant an opportunity for Tenebris to win, and an opportunity for Nahri to lose. Tenebris re-cast their angel, hoping it would protect them, as the angel attacked the elemental's limbs, Nahri lured it into circles, stealing its energy with the same spell they used before. Nahri could feel this thing's unending force, so they ran back to Tenebris, screaming "Finish it!" as if the creature wasn't far from defeated.

Tenebris saw the creature get closer to the two mages and sent their angel in a "final attack". Tenebris wasn't stupid, he could calculate the creature's energy at a simple glance, so they ordered their angel to attack them before Nahri's betrayal. As the angel's blade pierced into Tenebris's stomach, they only smiled and said "Don't waste my time". The masters inmediately ordered the elemental to be disintegrated, leaving everyone with an unpleasant taste in mouth.

The masters (and Nahri) felt robbed of a glorious ending to the battle, they will have to be more resourceful if they wish to avoid this kind of scenarios in future battles.

Surprisingly, @DrakeGladis wins the match. You get two favorites and may spend them in the store as well. Please be patient, I have a lot of exams coming at uni and can´t prioritize this :(

  • Its ok. Thanks for the win. GG @TenebrisNemo
  • Did my usage of 2 scraps and 2 treasures leave me with any for the next round?
    Also
*Nahri walks off the stage, feeling disgust not only at his robbed victory, but at himself for taking part. He also feels a strange exuberance, the thrill of battle still running strong in him. Never before had he felt so... alive. As he approaches the bleachers where he is to sit for his next battle, he ponders on this unusual twist. Absentmindedly, he reaches into his pouch for some jerky to munch on. Already a part of his mind is considering what to do next match. Closely he observes the remaining battles, half eager, half terrified...*
  • BTW, for those of you who hadn't picked up on the little niceties of Nahri,
    Sex and gender: Male
Race: Werewolf(This does not apply any inherent weakness to silver, seeing as he is from Lakas)
Age:17 (he is just a kid!)
    Rank: Apprentice
Normal colors: Unestablished, but green and blue primarily feature.
How he got here: Trying to teleport to the Infinite Atherium (library on the edge of the desolation), his spell was redirected to this arena.
Food: Most meats... any way they are served.
    Drink: A light cider
    Usual base: Hegwin's home, Lakas
Notes: The thrill of battle comes from his race being intended as predators from the start. He hasn't seen battle before, especially not personal combat.
  • @DrakeGladis I forgot, your remaining treasure may be used in the next fight. You will be given some more anyways.
  • Ok. Purchasing a pair of scrap tokens for one fav
  • Didn't see that coming! Thanks, and good luck, @DrakeGladis.
  • Welcome. Really want to win...
  • @DrakeGladis, That a list of all the fights we've seen so far?
  • Nah. It's all the ones we are waiting on. Did I miss yours? 'Cause @Revan , I didn't see you on the list...
  • @Revan no. Ones we have yet to see
  • @DrakeGladis I'm paired with someone I think.
