“Eh? No one comes here to disturb the peace!” Kertch goes back to the back room to wash the soap off his hands. Untying his apron, he throws it on a hook. An ephemeral chain dangles in Kertch’s right hand as he comes back into the main hall. “I hope you ain’t lyin’, or it’ll be youse wrapped in chains, y’hear?” Fedrick gives Kertch a bit of a dirty look for even suggesting such a thing. What he doesn’t know is that Kertch was actually serious. He hates anyone who disturbs the peace.
You (everyone, who proposed to help - Chala, Kertch and Gudboay) run throught the door and follow the villager without hesitation. He heads to a road leading out of the village and from there you soon are able to see a big house surrounded by a wheat field on one side and a fence on the other.
A group of men, who look like mercenaries and outlaws, is moving on the inside of the fence. Few of them are carrying bags of supplies from the house, the others are holding the farmer's family (the farmer, his wife two daughters and a son) as hostages.
One figure srands out to you however, a tall woman in black clothes with a contrasting pale skin. You can hear her shouting orders at the other bandits. Right now, she seems to be interested in the farmer's son, who's being held by a tall and slim mercenary.
As you come closer, the villager, that has been leading you, says: "Go on without me. I don't want to get into any trouble. I'll keep my distance."
Behind you a deep voice suddely speaks: "So, what are we waiting for? Let's get these rats!"
It's Fedrick, who left the inn shortly after you, with a butcher knife in one hand and an inprovised wooden shield in the other.
After giving orders to the raiding bandits, the pale lady walks to the boy, who desperately tries to get free from the tall mercenary's hold, but fails. The boy is clearly afraid as he avoids eye contact with the red-eyed woman, so she lifts his chin with her black fingernails.
When their eyes meet, she suddenly scratches the boy's left cheek with her nails, causing him to groan. The scratch left a bleeding wound, and the blood strangely floats in the air towards the lady. She made peculiar movements with her fingers, which caused the blood to flow around her body while she whispers something in an odd language. Her eyes emit a faint red light and so do the floating blood.
Finally, the blood flows into her mouth. The lady hisses and wipes her mouth with her hand while walking away from the terrified boy and the chuckling mercenary. As she wiped her bloody mouth, you noticed two long and sharp teeth there. The mercenary pushes the paralyzed boy to other bandits, and says something to the lady. You recognize one word, which is definitely her name...
“Well. I didn’t know there was a party! I sure wasn’t invited, and that makes me upset...” Kertch mumbles to himself. Then he turns to the group. “So, I may be the type to bash a bottle over someone’s head before I’d give it to ‘em free, but I ain’t a suicidal maniac. We’s gonna need a strategy, and I have a feeling it involves a lot of chains, beatings, and stab wounds.”
"So... it seems we've got a vampire on our hands. Bad move, miss wound kisser. Whatever we do, I's probably gots the best chance against blood breath over there."
Everyone is wondering what Kertch is talking about. Suddenly, he pulls a weapon made of silver out of his robe. One only carried by clerics.
“Alright... I think I did make a minor miscalculation here. Nona you seem well equipped to be scouts, do ya now? Tell ya, I saw this one guy, bloody freaking thief, and now I’s the one who gets to be slinkin’ around like I’m tryna get seconds for dinner. I’ll go ahead and see if I can spot an openin’ or something.”
Kertch advances to a tree nearby and climbs it, He pulls out a small eyeglass, looking at the thugs from the top of the tree.
Erica notices Kertch climb up the tree she's hiding behind. He didn't notice her.
Now's my chance! I can tell Kertch my plan. But, he's doing something, is it okay for me to disturb him?
Erica cleared her throat politely behind Kertch and he continued to look for an opening, not noticing.
"Um...Kertch?" Erica asked softly.
He couldn't hear her over the battle, or maybe he was just ignoring her.
"Kertch!" Erica shouted.
He turned around, clearly annoyed. "Look girl, I can't help you right now. I's tryin' to find an openin' in our enemy's defenses."
"It's about the battle! I've got a plan!"
"And that is?" Kertch said, suddenly attentive.
"You see, from what I've noticed, Tisiphone has only attacked one victim at a time, if we could get her to focus on someone while everyone else-"
"You'd sacrifice someone else?" Kertch interrupted, "If that's your plan, then go tell someone else. No one's dyin' on my hands, you see."
"Perhaps we could send other clerics with the same stake to surround the vampire while the others distract her bandits?"
"There's no other clerics in this town." Kertch said dismissively, "I need to go back to the battle."
"What if I distract Tisi-" Erica stopped. Would she really sacrifice herself so that Kertch could land a final blow? The princess shivered at the thought of a vampire attacking her.
Kertch wasn't listening.
Suddenly a bandit with two daggers approached Erica.
"Hello, Princess! I never dreamed of being able to capture the princess of Astropolis!"
"You- you know of my kingdom?"
The bandit scowled, "Of course I know of it! I was born as an outcast there, and now I can come and get my justice."
"Your justice?" Erica asked, trembling.
"My well-earned justice," the Bandit smiled.
He ran towards Erica and slashed with his dagger, but she swiftly dodged his attack like she had done with bandits she had encountered before. He continued attacking while Erica could do nothing but dodge. Suddenly, Erica lost her footing.
"The jig is up princess."
Kertch turned around just in time. He shot a blast of gold magic from his hands and the bandit was blasted away.
“So, then, you wanna bloody lay hands on an innocent girl? Not on my watch, you won’t!”
Just as Kertch goes to wrap a chain of light around the bandits neck, he realizes Chala has already picked them up. “Eh... you probably have something better in mind for him than I do. I’ll get back to lookin’.”
Kertch climbs back up the tree to continue looking for an opening.
The bandit is unconscious. Chala throws his body at the vampire. She notices the body and looks mildly confused, then angry. "Now we have a target for her."
“By the gods!” Kertch realizes that the bandit had been thrown. “Are we competin’ in shot put or something?”
Tisiphone turns to see the body, and wonders where it came from. So far, she hasn’t realized that the group is there. Yet.
“I don’t think she’s gonna like that...”
Suddenly, the raiders’ focus breaks. Everyone is looking at the body of the bandit. “They’re more distracted than Aunnie Frooher is by a plate of steak! Now’s our chance!” Everyone is very familiar with Aunnie. She always comes to the inn to overindulge herself with cheap food and cheap drinks. In fact, her gluttony shut down a smorgasbord at one point.
Kertch jumps out of the tree, anxious to fight, and breaks his ankle on accident. He spits out a stream of profanities, but no one seems to notice. Thankfully, with some quick work, he heals his wound and rushes in to hide behind a stack of hay bales near the group of bandits.

“Oi! What’s goin’ on here?”
Kertch comes into the room from the back. He was in the middle of working on dishes, so his hands are covered in soap.
“Did you say something about bandits near our great sainted inn?!”
//fixed
"If anybody else will help the farmers, I will also."
//that IS what we're meant to do, right?
“I prefer to stay OUT of these quarrels,” she said nervously as she put on some shiny ornaments, “I’ve had my share of bandits already.”
A few people glared at her ominously and she looked away.
//(Oh wait. am I allowed to do that?)
To look for the bandits (+ the annoying cat).

She heard an annoyed Kertch say, “Do you really expect me to run headlong into this chick with nothing but a stake?”
Maybe I should help him. I came here to be one of the people, not watch fights unfold from atop a tower in a high castle... How is this any different?
“I’ve got a plan,” she whispered to herself, “But how can I communicate to someone?”
