@Scott_Anderson Original Lore of creation I made a couple of weeks ago (copy pasted from that post):
In the beginning there was a God (MTGCardsmith's embodiment) floating in a void. He was sleeping in eternal rest until one day he opened his eyes. This sent out waves upon waves of aether out (you guys mentioned the planes were going to be islands floating in the aether, which I think is a good idea). There was so much and it was overpowering; the light was too bright and it hurt the god's eyes. He couldn't tolerate it, but he knew that this aether had a mysterious power; he sensed it. So to try and control the aether, he ripped of parts of his body/limbs to sent them floating into the distance; these limbs were supposed to absorb the overpowering energy. Eventually as the light dimmed and the god could finally see, he saw 5 entities standing before him. They had mutated and came back each with a different element: the five colors of mana. (There was a white/blue/black/red/green one, which will each have their names when we make them.) Each one had the power to send mana of their kind into the aether, thus being able to create an infinite amount of floating-island-planes . The god saw them having fun creating planes and tried to send mana of his own; turns out, he colorless. But, there was still a problem. Within seconds of creating planes, they would turn unstable and explode. The god, curious and eager to be able to create islands like the others, added his colorless mana to one of the newly created planes. To their surprise, it didn't explode and thus created the first stable plane. The colorless mana neutralized the colored mana, which stabilized the energy of the plane.
But, they weren't the only ones alive. There were other being out in the aether with intentions unknown. They had different kinds of mana like:snow mana, phyrexian mana, energy, etc. Some of them would help create islands by involving their own mana into them. But, who knows what other malignant being were created delving out in the farther parts of the aether...
@Ranshi not a mechanical conflict but a story conflict. Just a reason why they’re fighting and maybe a resolution. A little story. Not a graphic novel.
Like, a slice of life.
I once had a D&D adventure where the focus was two families of hobbits in a feud. But hobbits aren’t violent so it was pranks and gossip. It could be as simple as that. Or it could be a war or a love story or anything that has a little story to it.
That gives you reason to connect some cards in a narrative. Not all of them, just enough to give the impression of a vibrant living world.
The lore may need revision since it was meant for the first design format of the set. Now that the set has changed a bit, it doesn't quite fit in as well as it did.
@Leaf_Juggernaut You bet. I'm writing a second draft of your first draft and I will send it to you in private so we can talk about it and how to proceed.
I will do a better job of explaining. I know that once we publish the lore for the mega-set, it will be quite clear what we will be doing.
There are ten little islands in the aether. They look a lot like this:
On each island, there are two color-based factions. One is a three-color faction and the other is a two-color faction, using the remaining two of the five Magic colors.
So for instance it could be Mardu vs. Simic. If you are confused about colors and their names, you can find them all here: https://humpheh.com/magic/c/
Your job is to choose one of those pairs. Right now @KorandAngels and @Bowler218, we have Temur vs Orzhov and Mardu vs. Simic available.
Think up a little story. It can be very simple. Just a point of conflict and some creatures you can talk about. And then make cards!
@IzItTru I am still hammering out which multicolor cards to make. I made a mistake that I've just corrected: Each block only needs ten color groups (5 islands) instead of all 20.
As far as which monocolored cards you create, I would suggest making as many as you like at each rarity. Make sure at least some of them reflect your story or island. I have labeled as many slots as I can at this early stage to give folks a good idea what cards we want and in what quantities.
@Korandangels would you like to handle Mardu and Simic? Or is there another pair you would like to try? If it's another pair then we would have to have collaboration or bump someone.
Any Type 2 Mythics – any color and kind of card you want
Presumably any of those rares or mythics could be planeswalkers, and there are also rare monocolored spots.
I would think that many of the 2-color factions would want to put a planeswalker at rare or mythic, I don't know.
ADDITIONALLY you may submit whatever mono cards you like. Please remember it's commons that we need the most of and that are usually in the shortest supply.
I was just thinking, I wanted to include something obscure but in canon to sort of ground our plane into reality. I'm working on a Baltrice card, could we include her?
Neither of those are to my tastes. That is unfair. I had posted a few pages earlier with my islands saying that it was naya with splashes of the other two, meaning that MY COMBO WAS STOLEN!!!! @mtgcardsmithdetective
@korandangels Are there other decisions that we have made that you don't like?
The things I am announcing about how we divide up the sets and what cards to make are subject to change. It is difficult to fit 20 tribes into even a 1000 card set so as to allow each one breathing room, is what I am finding.

The art and flavor text would need revision but this is a card for God’s origin:

Yea that card fits the lore well. I like it.
The lore may need revision since it was meant for the first design format of the set. Now that the set has changed a bit, it doesn't quite fit in as well as it did.

2. Can I make any legendaries?
