Guys, I'm bowing out. **** hit the fan on my end and my plate is too full to take on this project with any degree of regularity. Feel free to consult me on matters, though.
Here are cards representing the main characters in the set. There are many other cards which reference one or more of the characters - mostly the Boros side, because it's presented from their point of view.
If you like, the images link through to the card pages and you can criticize them there so I can make any changes.
Antoneta Le Guen is the central character in the story and this is her "mature" card. She also has two other creature cards in the set - one legendary and one nonlegendary. She is referenced on many others.
@DrakeGladis there's no due date. Work on cards as you like. Don't stress out about it. This is meant to be fun!
There are 83 cards each of us must make (and many of those cards will be critiqued right back out, as you saw with me and @Potato13 earlier.) That means new cards.
That seems like a lot but I bet you have cards you already made that you like and would fit in your set idea.
So my advice is to just fill in your spreadsheet little by little as you go. After a couple of weeks we can look at what you have.
Everyone: It's totally okay to go slow if you want to. I happened to be able to bang through my cards because 1) I have a ton of Sultai cards that I like and 2) I have a ton of time on my hands these days.
I still have a ways to go, but I do have all but one of my important characters made into cards:
Horatia was meant to be at rare, but I messed up and put her at uncommon by mistake... As for going slowly, that sounds good - I have a limited well of ideas these days.
@thewanderer these are all excellent cards. I also peeked at some of the other cards you are considering for your slice. I think they are all adequate-to-excellent.
The flavor is strong!
On Gaius, I’m not sure he’s Izzet. Curiosity/Ophidian effects are blue and green. It’s not a terrible bend though.
b.t.w, I am thinking that there could be a Mediation Realm for all the Cardsmiths to live in, and they could watch over the plane from beyond. What does everyone think of that?
@Dom_Rocks Much of the preliminary process has been completed but we do have some creative work to do.
The Big Picture:
The Big Picture is that there is a Creator who has been sleeping for so long, his realm disintegrated. He awakens and pours his dreams out into the Aether. It forms into ten little island worlds - an Aether Archipelago. (There are also five central island worlds, each dominated by one color of mana. This is where the "generic" elements of the realm would live.)
On each one, there are all five colors and each has a particular arrangement: There is a conflict between a two-color faction and a three-color faction. Some of the conflicts are big and some are very small. It doesn't really matter; it's just a vehicle to tell a little story with main characters and some nice theme and flavor elements.
This Aether Archipelago is in the same dimension as Dominaria but very, very far away.
The Aether is not empty space. It is breathable and vessels akin to sailing ships can cross from one island to another. This means there will be vehicles in each expansion.
You are allowed to make yourself into a character of your story. I did not, but I think a lot of folks want to do that.
The 1,000 card set is divided up into two blocks, each with a large expansion and two small expansions. But the whole project ties together under the meta-theme of the dreams of a waking creator.
The set sizes are 258/121/121 and 258/121/121. Each large expansion will additionally get a "buy-a-box promo" mythic. We are doing this so everyone gets to design two mythics. So the whole thing is really 1,002 cards plus basic lands and token cards.
The expansion names of the first block are Gaifal (this is the name of the whole realm), Smiths of Gaifal, and Aether Archipelago. The second block has no names yet. Right now it's called Hot Dog, Mustard and Relish.
Five stories will be featured in each block over three expansions. The first three will be the friendly-shards versus enemy-guilds and the second three will be the enemy-shards versus the friendly-guilds.
These stories will each be assigned to a Cardsmith. They encompass 83 cards. Hopefully a large number will be related to the central story or theme.
83 x 10 = 830, leaving 170 cards not assigned. These slots will be filled with special lands and artifacts. We will leave those til after, but start thinking up some and maybe making some to set aside.
Comments
If anyone could take control of this it would be much appreciated, again I apologize.
I will still try to be somewhat involved in this but anyone can take control of this.
I am again sorry for this.
Thank you for reading this and being involved.

I would like to solicit a couple of well-known members here, one at a time, to honor us with their contribution. Is that NOT okay with anyone?

You know, this would make a good contest

If you don't mind, can you explain all the 400+ comments to me in a summary so I can start making cards?
Again, thank you!

On the last tab you will see the cards any particular person is responsible for making.
Here is an example worksheet so you can see how I filled mine out. It's only an example.
