Well, it wouldn't be any fun to put you right where the mysteries are, would it? ;)
  • That's what I thought.

Although, I think that it hath been 24 hours. (Or at least nearly)
  • It has been two days since 24 hours was announced.

Okay, new challenge now! @SammySammyson and @Aggroman15 weren't active for a while, and we will give them a chance to catch up if they like until the 26 of January. For the rest of us, you shall be judged and expanded in a few hours. The challenge, for everyone is this...

You done done it. Which one of you punks did it? Why'd you go disturbing that rock dredged up from the depths of the ocean? Now the mischievous spirits someone tried to contain by throwing into the abyss have detached themselves, and here they are.

    imageimage

Doesn't matter now. What matters is how you deal with it. Until the 27 of January, Monday, you shall post a card to show how you deal with them. Shoo them? Control them? EAT THEM? The choice is yours! Whoever ends up with the least points will get LURED and BURNED!
  • Since our alliance with the Eldrakken Empire is still questionable, we will use our feather magic to shape the jellyfish into dragonic forms and gift them to our winged allies.
    image
(So, we capture the jellyfish and mash them together into lots of these things.)
  • @KorandAngels

    That was quick... Nice Dragelatin!

Ekisha researchers have little time to deal with this minimal threat, they know there are much bigger fish to fry. With that, they prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. Being mages of mind magic and control, they create enchantments that vie at their very fabrics of existence. Making all second guess their reality.
  • I blanked on this. Even had it bookmarked so that I hopefully wouldn't forget. Methinks I have the thingy for the first challenge finished *rummages through MSE*

Regardless, I guess the bookmark wasn't enough. A reminder in my phone has now been set daily for 8:00! Huzzah!
  • @HeroKP this has nothing to do with the challenge just curiosity but is Mystik a globe? For instance if someone traveled of the east side of the map would they show up on the western side?
  • @IzItTru

As in every season, the answer is yes, but the ocean that allows you to sail to the other side is very dangerous, and trying to get to the other side is a pointless endeavour until about mid-season, and I always announce when such a feat becomes possible.

    @SammySammyson

    No worries! :)
  • In the highest peak of Sandir Syr Tybalt's Council meets.

Syr Tybalt adjusts his position in his chair and overlooks the holo-map of the island they currently inhabit. Every thing on it was fine except for one glowing red dot where Research Station A-25e was,

"And you say our communication has been cut entirely?" he looked up to the three other figures at the table "Do we know why?"

"I'm afraid we have," Syr Meadra began typing something into her keyboard and a 3d image appeared in front of Tybalt in a flash. The image was of a glowing red and orange jellyfish,

"Really? These managed to shut down an entire station?"

"They are stronger than they appear," Syr Gars spoke this time "While they appear harmless they managed to short-circuit the stations aether supply and lured the men to their death" he pulled up another image, this time of a larger map of the A-25e showing where the damages had been done. "I sent in a strike squad they managed to clear out most of them the critters just won't go away and all of our attempts to repair the station is blocked by them."

Tybalt was frustrated with this, everything had been going smoothly until this and he wasn't about to lose the crusade this early. He turned to Syr Edgar the mage was silently observing the map,

"Edgar you've been uncharacteristically quiet, what are you thinking?"

The mage turned to Syr Tybalt, "Well my lord, I think I've found the solution to the problem" He stood up motioning toward the door, if you all would be so kind as to follow me."

    ______________________________________________________________________________________

It was a short trip to Egdar's lab, only three stories down from the meeting hall the mage had equipped his temporary workspace with the usual bare essentials, but there was something new in the center of the room. A space had been cleared in the ceiling and floor in its place a giant pillar of mechanical workings stood, a glowing blue sphere of energy pulsed in the center, Edgar moved toward a control panel and turned to the others,

"I took the liberty of going out to A-25e myself to view the tiny menaces." He began typing something into the panel, "It turns out a few of the soldiers had managed to capture one in a barrier of electricity!", "Normally the spirits can float through walls and with that ability they are able to reach the aetherworks! But it was unable to pass through the barrier!" With that the sphere of energy died down revealing a small canister about the size of a can "I reverse engineered on of our EMP grenades to be able to trap the pests inside!" The mage placed the canister back in place "And with these canisters we can pull the energy that the spirits use out if them and use them as batteries of sorts!", "I call it a "Phantasmal Reactor"!"

(I apologize for going a bit overboard for this. I mean, I actually don't apologize for it, but regardless. Also shoutout to our boy Arceus for suggesting border breaks to me. They are officially part of my brand. This is for the initial challenge of, as expected, exploration. More to come!)

Mystik's evening air is warm with the impending challenges ahead. Animals buzz and whiz around the knights' encampments, and breathtaking plant life shudders and whispers in the breeze. It isn't as though this will always be this peaceful. In fact, with camp setup and the knights comfortable, it is time to begin clearing the view.

See, the Knights will not just hop onto Drumheller and set sail around the shores. They will not walk quietly through the forests. They will not explore.

They will clear the view. Every last soul in their way will fall to the everlasting flames of the Soulless Ones. It is with the decree of Flair that the knights begin the process of slashing and singeing the forests surrounding.

By powerful spells, by shots of flame from Drumheller, and by their own flaming swords, they start to raze the land around them in blind destruction.

  • Sorry, I've been busy/lazy lately and haven't gotten around to doing much on the site. I would like to catch up if possible, so what is it that I need to do/make to do that?
  • image
Gareth and everyone else welcomed the spirits to exile with open arms. To assist them, Gareth has decided to call upon another of the Saints, a group of Lost who are much more powerful than the average Lost and work alongside Gareth to protect and guide the Lost. He decided to call upon the Saint of Inevitability, Thim, to look after the spirits and nurture their potential to its highest and purest form so that they can better serve themselves and the Lost.
  • The Jellyfish werent much of a problem to deal with for the Acrean Empire, however their ambision would not allow them to leave such specimens and resources wasted.
    image
So they thought to study them and find any kind of use for them.
At the least they could work as a nice decoration if no better use is found for them.
  • @Aggroman15

To catch up, you simply need to make a card for the last challenge, then a card for this challenge

(The photo is linked to one without the border break.)

Spirits and jellies may be a bit obnoxious, but they absolutely are not when some of them are associated with fire. By manipulating the flames within the floaters, Flair controlled them and turned them on their less fiery friends.

The lures were their own major weakness. By drawing the floaters toward them, they simply met their doom, and left the floaters, once released from Flair's grasp, unable to defend themselves and victim to slaughter by hand. Though, a handful were kept in case they were to be needed again.

With the jellies hopefully dealt with and left as nothing more than occasional pests, the knights continue their unholy attacks on the land of Mystik. The ashes of the world lay beneath their armor-clad feet, waiting for the time that a ritual will be performed.

  • "Sire! Sire!"

Ezorael, and with him, Nekrekkar, turns around to see one of his soldiers flying toward him.

    "Cotar, what's the matter?"

"Jellyfish. Lots of them. Rising from the water. One of the others disturbed the spirits or something."

"Very well. I'll gather some druids and see if they will be willing to form an alliance."

"You sure that will stop them from attacking?"

"No, I'm not. If they decide to attack, be ready to incinerate every last attacker."

As Ezorael finishes his sentence, a sleek, green dragon flies toward them, followed by a group of dragons, each one more gelatinous-looking then the elves are used to seeing.

"Telai, I thought I told you to keep an eye on the jellies." Cotar says to the lead dragon.

The others are keeping an eye. Nothing seems to be happening yet. Telai explains. Anyway, the Birds sent another gift. Seems they made dragons out of some of the jellies.

Ezorael thinks for a few seconds, then turns to the red dragon beside him. "Nekkrekar, what do you think we should do with them for the time being?"

Cotar, get one of the dragon keepers. Tell them to find somewhere to bed down and something to eat. We'll decide what to do with them later.

Cotar nods and turns tail, as Telai flies back to the shore.

"Oh, and one more word, Cotar?"

Cotar turns to face the rider. "What is it, sire?"

Ezorael looks him in the eye, as he says, "Remember what I said about calling me by a formality?"

    Journal Entry # 05395
An odd event occurred today. As I was taking my daily exercise around the deck, I happened to spot that we were surrounded by an excessive amount of jellyfish. Upon further investigation, these appered to be hostile, however, we have managed to apprehend a few to experiment upon. Perhaps we can improve our current work force. In other news, we have finally seemed to have gotten far enough away from the dragons, as even with our most powerful spyglasses we cannot see them. Hopefully we will find a safe spot to work on the Big One. The work must not be delayed any more than is necessary.
    Journal Entry # 05401
More odd events to record today. In the distance, we saw a ship. Apparently, we aren't alone even up here. However, the inscription on their ship "The Lost", is hopeful. Perhaps they will understand our goals, maybe even be willing to assist us in them. We don't know if they saw us, but it is possible. We must be prepared for anything. Which leads to the other good news. Sirache managed to mix the jellyfish and a zombie, creating a much more capable servant. These hybrids are horrifying to look at, but very effective at their jobs. Now all that we need to do is to find the perfect place to start our work.

( @Daedalus_The_All_Father , the real question is did you notice us)
  • The King decided to place castles along the coast, brimming with equipment to experiment with the creatures. The initiative was officially named:
    "F.E.N.R.” (Find, Experiment, Neuter, Release)

The “neuter” meaning both weakening them and shutting off their reproduction. The project allowed them to learn about the nature of Mystik’s sea life and (hopefully) weaken the jellyfish population to a healthy amount.

The Castles also allowed the king to gain more dominion over his realm, and gave him a use for the many Nobles who were merely doodling and spending away the budget. The project, despite what could be expected - because profitable. The kingdom became obsessed with an oil secreted by the neutering of the jellyfish. The oil could be used to create a hyper strong plastic, great for almost everything -

    even war.

For the exploration challenge, it wouldn't be right if the pirate faction wasn't looking for buried treasure!

    image

I'm going to begin expanding further in on my main island, and a little bit on the island that I have area off the coast of in the north of my empire.

For the jellyfish challenge, Marraro works his necromantic magic and gets the jellyfish spirits contained in actual movable-on-land bodies so that we can have them join the crew without body type issues.

Make sure you don't actually open an ancient crypt and release unspeakable evil on the world
  • *Foreshadowing music plays*
  • @EnvyReaper May be a little late for that (referring to how we are retconning the timeline to have @Aggroman15 been the one to free the jellies after finding them in the spot that was marked by X, so as to resolve any chronological disputes)
