  It's just a way of saying "Go back to the beginning" or "Go to the top of the page" or something like that, I'm not 100% sure.

  @The-DM I’m not sure either, but I believe it is way for many people to move the thread back to the “recently commented” section.

  The action of bumping posts a comment.  The comment, once posted, denotes the conversation as the most recently used, sending it up to the top of the proper area (with some exceptions, based on posts that are pinned to the top of the board by the moderators)

  No problem.  My family are computer geeks, so it kinda rubs off on me.  And, frankly, your explanation would work too, as you get the same effect (unless I'm misunderstanding it)
