My custom format

Bonjour, or possibly bonsoir!
This is where I will put all my ideas for formats(Remember, none will be competitive) and you can help/judge my ideas. Feel free to post cards for any of the formats, and also feel free to post any ideas for formats, and we can all work on them.
That's all for now folks!

    Real quick, just want to say that this is how I design my formats:https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/ways-play/making-your-own-magic-format-2016-02-17

    Blitz
    Blitz is a casual, duel/multiplayer broad format, with no pushed mechanics.
    Rules:
    Each player has 10 life.
    (Insert rule here)
    Lands untap at each opponent's end step as well as your untap phase.
    You can't lose of no library.
    40 card max decks.
    Players can't be the target of direct damage.

    Blitz aims to be a fun, fast paced quick format. Not a real ban list, just nothing further than M15.

  • @LordTachanka123 Blitz seems fun, but you might want to rewrite/reconsider the "all creatures have haste." This rule could make some decks outright overpowered, and others just straight up terrible.
  • Here's a format that I'm just going to call Format, as I do not have a good name:

    Format is a competetive multiplayer broad format that contains a very, very game-changing pushed mechanic

    Rules:
    Each player has 30 life.
    60 card max decks
    Whenever a player casts a spell, any other player may pay X, where X is the spell's CMC. If they do, they can copy the card. If it targets something, they may choose new targets for the copy.

    Format aims to be challenging to win, competitive, and strategic while still being chaotic.

    @LordTachanka123 Not related to format, What do you mean by "Players can't be the target of direct damage" in Blitz? Does that mean cards like shock?
  • edited May 2020
    Yeah, else wise you could just use 2 of Sarkhan's Catharsis on a player @dragonbornletter

  • Also, Format is not supposed to be competitive. I was aiming for something more... strict? then causal, but not as so as competitive.
  • How about, new name:
    Mirror!
    Does that work for your format @dragonbornletter?
  • @LordTachanka123 Mirror is a great name for the format! I was thinking something to do with Chaos, but that's way better!
  • @LordTachanka123 I will try out playing blitz later... I can be a playtester if you haven't already done that.
  • Thank you so much @dragonbornletter! I've been wanting to playtest it, but haven't had the time/friends...

    @dragonbornletter

    That format, I think, is very broken. In any instance, an Izzet Shock with some Guttersnipes, Electrostatic Fields, a few Rals and Nivs, that would completely wipe out another player. (At any rate, however, I love it because I play Izzet a lot.)
  • Keyword there was "other" player @The-DM...
  • edited May 2020
    I know that. If a player plays an good spell, Izzet would do the same with additional damage on the side. The format could also lead to Counter-duels (Countering a counter).
  • Narset's Reversal would have some funky rules...
    Also, most izzets would probably be banned.
  • I playtested blitz...
  • The games are very quick, and white can feel overwhelming(If its a token). Green is a little weak, because It can't get it's big creatures out.
    @The-DM
    @dragonbornletter
    Any suggestions?

    Defeat the Dragon
    Casual, multiplayer, closed format.

    Rules:
    Most players have 15 life, but a chosen player has 40
    Chosen player must have a dragon, horror, or beast as their "commander"(They don't have to be legendary)
    Other players can have any knight, soldier, or warrior as their "commander"(They don't have to be legendary)
    Players must work together to kill the "dragon"
    No shared mana
    Non-Creature spells for dragon cost 1 less
    Whenever a player is killed, the dragon makes 3 treasure tokens
    All spells that non-dragon players cast have assist (Any player may pay up to {n} or this spells mana cost)
  • @LordTachanka123
    I like the Medieval format, I think it should be called "Defeat the Dragon" and I think that maybe broadening the requirements from Knight to Knight, Soldier, or Warrior.
  • I think a nice additional thing to add is all spells that non-dragon players cast have assist (Any player may pay up to {n} or this spells mana cost)
  • Hate to ask, but would it be possible for someone to test Defeat the Dragon? I just figured out today, I don't have friends...
    Also, anyone should feel free to post cards made for one of these formats!
  • @The-DM I did not realize that.. Mirror is, as you proved, is a lot eaiser to break than other formats..

    @LordTachanka123 I may be able to playtest Defeat the Dragon tomorrow...Problem is, my MTG group consists of one person other than me, so it would be hard to playtest a multiplayer format
  • @LordTachanka123 You playtested Blitz.... How did Blue, Black, and Red stand up? My guess would be that a creature-focused, aggro, red deck wins deck would be the strongest.
  • edited May 2020
    Well, I didn't playtest the other colors nearly as much, but red is very strong, especially as I'm playing with the family night decks(I don't have a lot of monocolor decks), which is dragon tribal. It's aggro playstyle is very powerful. Black is meh, as some cards take too much mana, and some cards just don't get a lot of power out of their abilities. I'm mainly talking cards that raise the dead, as you don't lose that many creatures.
    Blue was the color which I am yet to playtest...
    @dragonbornletter

  • Lich Knight  3b
    Creature-Zombie Knight
    Whenever you cast Lich Knight, destroy target creature.
    Sacrifice a creature:Return Lich Knight from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

    @LordTachanka123 Thanks for the information..

    Here's a format that is hopefully less easy to break than mirror (I'm already addicted to making formats.)

    Gladiator Arena

    Causal, Multiplayer/Duel, Closed format

    Rules:

    -60-card decks

    -30 starting life

    -Whenever you cast a spell, you get a Power? Counter. For each power counter you have, your spells cost 1 less. This goes away at the beginning of your next end step, can't be used to pay colored mana, and can't reduce the mana cost of a creature by less than 1.

    @The-DM There's probably some way to break this- If you see something, please let me know
