  • Introducing... Murderous Tuskbrawler!

  • Make sure you add the link to the card!
Neat! But maybe two instead of three?
  • Another dinosaur set? Now there's two kicking around in the forums!
  • O @Arceus8523. Didn't know that.
  • Tigersol is working on one. Yeet. =P
  • Ah, well. They can still be two DIFFERENT dinosaur sets.
  • Indeed they can. I'm working on a music set despite Ral1000 also working on one
  • I really like the themes of the set, so I'd like to contribute as well. Here's my first card: Jungle Dwelling Sailback, a spinosaur that stalks prey in the jungle and can quickly hide. What do you guys think?

Pretty good @Scaccogaming! I like the idea and abilities. Maybe if it had Survival (See the other thread with mechanics) or Dual-Burst (Again, other thread) it would fit in more and give more of a Sneaky/PredatorvsPrey theme... But neat card! One small typo is that that "The" in "[g], [t]: Prevent all THE damage that would be dealt to Jungle Dwelling Sailback this turn." That THE is not supposed to be there.

    Jungle Dwelling Sailback {2}{g}

    Creature - Dinosaur

Jungle Dwelling Sailback can't be blocked by more than one creature.

Survival - If a creature you control died this turn, Prevent all damage that would be dealt to Jungle Dwelling Sailback this turn.

"The moment someone notices it's presence, it's already to late. And when you think you caught him by suprise, he is quick to hide in the jungle."

    What do you think?
  • Oh yeah, I had a mechanic made the other day @SNAPcreator7 called extinct. Either, it was @The-DM's example, or "You may have no copies of this creature in your deck". I have a set for dinosaur cards @SNAPcreator7. Might wanna check it out.
  • @SNAPcreator7 I didn't want to overdo it, it's an uncommon card after all. I just wanted to craft a card that could go well in any set.
  • @The-DM Am I the only one thinking that Tempestosaurus is kind of...out of place, for this set? But then again, great Izzet card.
  • They are just ideas @Scaccogaming .

I wanted to make use of the Survival mechanic, but in the end, the concept sprung to mind: a rare species of raptors that evolved themselves so they can eat meat and metal alike, that's why their bones are literal plates of metal, which can be harvested and forged into armor (hence why the on-death effect).

    Steelbone Raptor

    Thoughts? Is it too strong?
  • Pretty good! I like the idea, and neat card as well. Only thing is at the end, is it supposed to be "When Steelbone Raptor dies, target creature gets +0/+3 until end of turn" or is it supposed to be permanent?
  • I intended it to be a permanent effect, like sort of an equipment card or an aura, but not really. It should make sense since the target creature is WEARING the carcass of the raptor.
  • Maybe it should be counters... "When Steelbone Raptor dies, put a +0/+3 counter on  target creature."

Intoducing... Stomping Rhinotusk! I thought it would be cool to make a card with Stampede, but other abilities can affect the stampede.

  • edited June 2020
@SNAPcreator7 only nitpick is that the Stampede description should be in Italics. Other that that, it's kinda solid, good card.
Maybe you'd want to give it less strenght, since by playing 4 of those, you can create eight 4/5 fatties, that could become 4/6.
  • @Scaccogaming
Actually, it shouldn't. The structure is similar to kicker, and that isn't italicized.
  • edited June 2020
@The-DM the kicker description is italicized, but the effect of kicker isn't part of the description.

@SNAPcreator7 the card is interesting, but I'd make a few changes:
    ---
    Stomping Rhinotusk    4G
Creature - Dinosaur (or Dinosaur Turtle?)

Stampede 3G (At the beginning of your combat phase, you may pay 3G. If you do, create a token that's a copy of this creature, except it doesn't have stampede. It gains haste and must attack this turn if able. Sacrifice that token and the end of the combat phase.)

GG: Creatures you control named Stomping Rhinotusk get +0/+1 until end of turn.

    4/4
    ---

The reason I changed the wording of Stampede is because you can't create an attacking token after the declare blockers step, but the ability would let you anyways. I tried to fit it into the original wording but wasn't able to.

EDIT: I also removed the "only once" clause on the last ability because this is an uncommon creature and it's a fairly minor ability that doesn't require restriction imo.
  • @SteampunkDragon I think you tagged the wrong person, the creator of Stomping Rhinotusk is @SNAPcreator7. But other than that, I do agree with you.

I wanted to test how to make Dual-Burst work, but I feel like it's just out of place, really. It's a good mechanic on paper, but it doesn't fit the set. Sorry.
  • @SNAPcreator7
Your collection inspired me to create a small dinosaur set as well. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
If you feel comfortable, can I comment on the cards you have already made in the comments of each one?
  • Sure! Thank you! Hope the set turns out well!
