Thunderbird of Native American mythology was told to pass over the heads of a party of braves and crash behind a hill, when they found it, only a skeleton was left embedded in stone.
Nice cards everyone! Apologies if I'm a bit out of the mtgcs community these days, but I'll try to stop by as much as possible.
@joemamajoe while I really like the general feel and balance of this card, I'm not quite seeing how it relates to the flavor theme of the contest. Does it relate to a specific culture, mythology, or theme? You can still certainly submit it, just keep in mind that the aspects I described in the intro will be taken into account while judging.
To the entrants: Entries close for judging on the 31st. They'll re-open within a few days for November once I get the results out there.
@ChoyBoi I'll be getting to judging within the next few days. I apologize for the inconvenience, there are a lot of things pulling at my schedule right now.
Amazing work here everyone! This was an extremely fun contest to conduct! Judging was tedious, because of how many awesome entries there were, and I had to work hard to boil it down.
Judging was based on aspects of Flavor, Balance, and Originality. I used a point system to amplify this method. If you are not happy with the result, I'm sorry. There were truly many amazing cards here, and I wish I could award them all.
Everything about this card feels great. I love the various abilities that all support each other. The art you found is sick. My one worry is that, by turn 3, most players tend to have blockers, which makes this card less and less useful. Needless to say, it is very creative and flavorful.
This design is immensely creative. I love the flavor in the troll being exhausted, the tax feeling is great, and the Troll eating is even better. One thing I might say constructively is that there seems to be a lot going on here with Gold and Treasure tokens, ability counters, a keyword ability that isn't a counter, the tap ability and the block synergy. This might not be a problem, I just figured I would point it out.
The 1st place winner of the contest is... @TenebrisNemo with You're not Alone!
This design is breathtaking. I love the flavor, synergy, and everything else that comes with this card. A friend jumping in to help the lone adventurer. I'm not familiar with Final Fantasy, but this just emanates flavor all around. Well done.
@TenebrisNemo, @Suicidal_Deity, @CassZero, each of you may pick up to two additional cards and post their links here for me to favorite. You have each also received a follow if you hadn't already. I likely won't leave any more messages on this thread, but I assure you, the cards will be faved.

While I know what I said in the intro, I think it's time to close this contest. I just don't believe it's quite as attractive and open-audience as many of the other contests we've seen recently. Thank you everyone so much for your entries. Once the cards have been faved, I'll DM Corwinn to close it up.
As a side-note, I think this is my time to step away from MTGCS. It has been an extremely inspiring and friendly community I have grown to be a part of, and I will always remember what I have learned here. I appreciate every smith who has given me feedback through the ages, though I apologize if I didn't always listen. Other things in life take their toll, and I think is my time to leave. Who knows, perhaps one day I will return. But until then, I say... Adios!
Good job to the winners! You all deserve it. I thought this was a really cool contest, and I'm sad to see you leave @Ral1000. You are such a great cardsmith.
Ooooo, thank you for the silver medal. I just entered because I liked the contest, I don't want to ask you to favourite any cards. Thank you.
Also, I wish you all the best as you traverse your way through other aspects, dreams, and desires within your life. Take care of yourself. You always have a seat at the table here, so feel free to return whenever you'd like.
It was a joy to design extra-flavorful cards for this contest! Take care and remember that you can always return here with another great idea for a contest or a card!
Thank you so much for the kind words everyone. I'm sad to leave, but it must be done.
I have favorited those cards and more. @Corwinnn if you could close this thread that would be great. Thanks in advance, and thanks again to everyone! I'll miss MTGCS a great deal.

I hope this follows the guidelines:
Card is based on a Final Fantasy VII antagonist in one of his final, mutated forms.
*Entries are now closed.
