One of the main questions of the poll was the ever-unclear and unbalanced issue of Lore Points. The first time the poll was run, there was an overwhelming sentiment that the Lore points were too rewarding. This time, much more people were happy, which is good. But there was another underlying sentiment, one that I suspected would be expressed coming in. It is felt that right now the Lore points incentivise Quantity over Quality. This is not the direction we want to take anymore, so from now on, they will reflect in a much larger capacity how good your writing is, versus how much there is of it.
Formula Alteration #2:
S6 was different. A good type of different, though, that many people said they enjoyed. So we will be lending some aspects of it to newer seasons. Expect the world map to become much more malleable in the future, as we try to play with this design space further.
Formula Alteration #3:
So, @EnvyReaper suggested a very, very... interesting idea for S8 before they disappeared from the site, but to achieve this, we need to add some more moving parts to the COLONISERS process. We pitched the question in the poll, and a majority said that they would be fine with the series becoming more complicated, as long as it all happens gradually, so expect this season to slowly rack up complexity.
Formula Alteration #4:
We have gotten a complaint that I found very valuable. Whoever deposited that response, you have our gratitude. The more I thought about it the more I realised its correctness - the series is becoming slightly formulaic, especially in the register of factions that rise to prominence. So this season, it will be advised to deviate from the FOLLOWING ARCHETYPES:
Medieval Kingdom filled with Betrayal
Unspeakable Nightmare Horde
Happy Socialist Artisan Land
NOT TO SAY THAT YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO SUCCEED IF YOU HAVE A FACTION THAT FALLS INTO THESE CATEGORIES. All the more opportunity to subvert our expectations!
If any of you disagree viscerally with any of these upcoming changes, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are trying to construct an enjoyable experience, and it is worth nothing if it isn't enjoyable.
We have 8 factions at the moment, which is a good number. Hopefully we either get a lot more so that the good ones actually get a distinction, or it stays like this for a few weeks. (I kinda want to start early, but this is a bit too early.)
In childhood’s golden times,
Everyone lives happily –
Effortless and lighthearted
With fun and joy.
Only we don’t get to run and play
in the golden fields:
All day the factory’s wheels
We turn, and turn, and turn...
And the Industry trudges along all the same. And as any good business owner, it is my duty to keep the gears turning forevermore, not just for myself, but for everyone else's sake as well. Were it not my ingenuity, millions would still be impoverished and unemployed, living in the darkest of ditches. However, my home's resources has been drained to the last drop, yet they still need more. For you see, society is like a voracious beast, gorging itself upon wealth resources until there is nothing left to feed on. I am just a meager business man, I cannot solve the issues plaguing my world, but I can relieve it of the pain. I have chosen to look beyond the Eternities, to a world lacking true civilization and filled with lush resources. There may be some competitors vying for the land as well, but I am not concerned at all. For I have what many of them lack: Vision. My will to enforce my far-reaching goals upon the land is like other. Of course, they will all be grateful for my foresight, for they shall benefit from my gracious generosity. I am a philanthropist, after all.
You will understand in time, my son, of the burdens that you will bear when you inherit this company. I know my life is nearing its end; I have amassed too many enemies in my ploys to drive our business forward. They will not go for you; they wish to manipulate my life's work from the inside out, with you as their unwitting puppet. It may not seem like I ever pay attention to you, but I have noticed you are very strong spirited, and I applaud you for it. I just ask you to do the right thing and use that spirit to push our industry further beyond. If you bring change to the system all you achieve is topple the house of cards we currently stand on. We would not want that now, would we?
Yes, I am aware you do not trust the folk I invest so much money to protect our company. But they always listen to the highest bidder, and our wealth is limitless.
As for the workers, they may not be in the... best of conditions, however there is nothing that can be done. Put simply, they will grow lazy and not put in their best work in, and that's what this industry needs the most: Effort. Besides, the employees weren't forced to work here, they could've anywhere else! But they signed up here, knowing exactly the conditions that you say plague the workers.
Our factories have already begun production, manufacturing many assorted items. Yet perhaps our most unique export is that which many of these planes seem to be unfamiliar with: The car. A simple transport vehicle that brings a great amount of convenience to those that own one. The competitors will be joyous when we grant them free vehicles for their personal use, so joyous in fact they will feel compelled to give back in return. And if they don't? Well, at the heart of any business is that of deceit...
And the Dromoka will eventually come to understand the true value of the cog. There is a reason why those who stick to nature eventually become outcasts in the eyes of true society.
When wendigo catch anyone in the woods, they want to enter a pact with him. Human gives the wendigo his soul and heart, and wendigo give him power and might. How do they give your heart? Literally. Priest of wendigo rips his heart out of his chest. From now, there is one more wendigo.
When someone resists wendigo more than the others, Kabibon... blesses him! Kabibon's blessing gives power. But the spell always is trying to take the human over and when it does, the mortal goes to the wood and gets lost. When wendigo find him, he accepts their pact and becomes a wendigo. The greatest treachery of that charm is in its good properties for the target.
When a wendigo wants to become a priest, he goes on a sacred hunt for a humanoid. Wendigo kills the humanoid and gives it to his teacher. If the catch is bad, wendigo gets nothing and leaves the church ashamed. If the catch is great, he becomes a priest. If the catch is superb, wendigo becomes a huntsman. These wendigo don't wait until you get lost. They attack and give no mercy. If you are attacked by one, you may already think of yourself as food.
Some people worship wendigo as gods or spirits. They are called The Circle of the Elk. These druids are untouched by wendigo. They are Kabibon's ears and eyes in human society. They are as primal and wild, as wendigo. Their leader is Gajavi. There is his story:
Once a druid has found a book of greatest spirits and creatures of great woods. On on a page he saw a spell to call Kabibon. Then Kabibon blessed him. Gajavi has read about Kabibon's blessing so he understood that. He saw his blessing as a selection of a cult leader. Then he started looking for wendigo knowledge until one day he didn't find Kabibon in his house. After this, he started gathering followers and formed The Circle of the Elk.
There are ten days left. But ten days. We have seen who we like. But the more the merrier!
Hello, @FourEyesIsAFish, @PandaShoop, @pjbear2005, @The-DM, @DrakeGladis. I am sorry to be distracting you from your undoubtedly busy day, but you all expressed interest in joining, so I would like to give you an additional poke, since I'm familiar with all of your cardsmithing abilities, and think that you could undoubtedly come up with some very interesting factions.
A member of the Koreli, and certainly not based on any existing character, Hundr believes that change is the only way for their tribe to move on. And he will go through any measures to see that change comes.
Also, I may not actually be able to participate in this, as I have a lot of stuff to do after Thanksgiving. Sorry for raining on your parade; I really wanted to join.

The Hero is waiting. Stake your claim. Submit your faction. This is your chance.

(That's basically a card that represents the forest where wendigo live.)
