Diary of a timemage Month of the Eighth Purple Moon, sixthday. We finished building the towers up to a suitable height for the Hanging Gardens project. There are indeed hanging gardens, in a very literal sense. The problem come in that, even with suitable living space for our entire population, we still have a very limited amount of territorty. We have a truce with the Quathan Federation, but the so-called "Nodule" to the east, we have no truce with. In addition, their society is built on very different principles to ours, principles that we find objectionable. A war with them will likely become necessary, I am forming plans for it.
@HeroKP Every time you mention the "bloody trench war", I wonder if it is a joke and if anybody has thought that it was actually a bloody trench war, with my whole attempt at a pacifist Colonisers faction. (Nothing on you, just a thought.)
@DrakeGladis You doomed yourself when you decided to have an esper faction. Yes, the Quathans are esper too, but they are more cool and the leader gives stuff protection from instants.
@DrakeGladis Do be aware that in a Selesnya commander deck, you can fit in a LOT of artifact destruction. Granted if you have more than a few of them in an normal deck it would be a really bad deck, but stilll.
Tonme sits contemplating his options when Arckus his most trusted advisor enters the camp tent.
"Arckus, what do the fathomnauts predict? How should we navigate these lands and their people?"
The master fathamnaut stood with majesty while he spoke, "We are simple people. We shouldn't focus on what we don't have, but instead work with lands that we know."
The leader of the Talniri thought over the words for several seconds before issuing his orders, "Begin working the land. Release the power of the fathom to bend this place to our will. Also send extra defenses to are borders. I do not trust some of our neighbors."
The Talniri warp and change their terrain. Changing the lands as they need. Their current goal is fortifying and improving the area they already control as the other factions seem hungry for resources.
Jene looked up from studying the map of Nemain when the harsh tone of Vaxara's voice broke across the room.
"Jene. We have received reports that our allies in the Industry have left Nemain. New Dromoka stands as an ally with us, however. They stand poised to strike the Core."
"Anything else?" Jene had now turned to look at Vaxara.
"We are surrounded by two factions dependent on their military strength, which is significant. However, neither appears to have protection against our aerial legions, nor protection against our magic. I suggest we dispatch the Third, Fourth, and Final Legions to deal with the Wendigo, then after their destruction, we send all of our forces against the Talniri afterwards. Casualties are expected to be low, since we can attack from the air and ruin their armies." Vaxara finished with a flourish of her hand, waiting for Jene's reply.
"We will strike swiftly and with no mercy. Let us crush these animals beneath the iron-clad boots of our legions." Jene turned back to the map, then spoke again. "Let us unleash our wrath."
With the Xedd bordering water on multiple sides, the answer for more territory was obvious, take the water too. Xedd not needing normal sustenance to survive, like oxygen and food, it is quite easy to traverse through, and under, water. The Overseer modified some of its troops for an aquatic division, and sent them on their way to take control of its borders.
While the Xedd were continuing their exploration and advances, one of the scout troops had stumbled upon an old dusty book locked away in a dilapidated ghost of a village. Returning to Harbinger and its Overseer, they quickly started to decipher the ancient text that had been found.
Do keep in mind that the card's effects are only flavor in terms of their impact. Making a card that destroys all artifacts isn't going to completely ruin DrakeGladis' faction, nor does he have to make a card to respond to it unless HeroKP forces him to.
After all this is all just one big game of pretend, with HeroKP as the mediator.
Yeah. Besides... I can totally do other things with the destruction. Graveyard triggers.... reanimation.... a Dictate of Erebos effect.... there are plenty of things I could do.
"Some of our people have been going missing along the east border Reshi" The soldier silently told the Mage. He had been out to see family when he had been told his brother had been taken by strange men. He had immediately gone to see the Mage. "Do you know who lives across the East Border?" Mason Kingsly asked the soldier. He had been sent to this place many years ago, exiled, after he had refused to execute a man accused of thievery. But he was welcomed here, for his runes were strong, and he had talked to the Sea Lord before. "An odd nation. They wear metal suits and swing heavy swords when they march to battle. And they march! I don't know how they manage to do it and get to where they are." "Kapshil!" The man muttered under his breath. He had long ago given up the language of his ancestors, but he could still curse like no other man. Mason knew what could be happening, as his own kind had done it before. And the tribe needed to expand...a perfect cassus beli... He went to the painting on the wall of his tower(which was odd, as most of the population was nomadic, but he had his ways) and pulled it off. Behind it lay a lodestone with a hole in the middle. He pulled a key from his sack and insert it. The lodestone shattered, revealing an obsidian rune with many markings that glowed red. "Warn the people soldier. It's time to awaken the beast." I wasn't referring to how the fighting was actually being done so much as I was referring to how the conflict psychologically felt to observe.
Yes, the Quathans are esper too, but they are more cool and the leader gives stuff protection from instants.
?
You are aware that this is a very normal effect?
And yes, we are actually invading now.

I don't think you know what you're dealing with.

Ooh, a hidden flip side! That's always fun!
Right Half of my Brain: Don't say it, don't say it, don't say it...
Left Half of my Brain: *haven't
Yes, but
1. That is an archaic form unfitting of the general stylistic direction of the phrase
2. You would still put an apostrophe between n and t - it’s the arguably more important one
After all this is all just one big game of pretend, with HeroKP as the mediator.
