Ladies(?) and Gentlemen, I frankly don't believe it! Out of our top eleven ranked winners, there are no ties. Incredible! That means that there's no need for the super secret challenge at all!
With that in mind, we can skip over that challenge (although your entries are lovely) and get straight into the results! First, though, a reminder on the prizes:
1st place: 10 whole faves (wow) and a follow (double wow) 2nd place: 9 faves and a follow 3rd place: 8 faves and a follow 4th place: 7 faves and a follow 5th place: 6 faves and a follow 6th place: 5 faves 7th place: 4 faves 8th place: 3 faves 9th place: 2 faves 10th place: 1 fave 11th place: 0 faves, but a distinguished position of honor, so, a follow. And Circuit Points! 1st Place: 1 Circuit Point 2nd Place: 3/4 Circuit Point 3rd Place: 1/2 Circuit Point 4th through 11th Place: 1/4 Circuit Point
We only had 14 people earn points, so I'm going to give 12th, 13th, and 14th a favorite each for their valiant efforts! Sorry 11th place, no favorite for you, although you do still get a follow (and circuit points)
Additionally, I changed the way I decided on how many winners there were per contest. I continued with the intent of the original idea, to have more winners the more entrants there were, but modified it slightly. It worked like this:
1, 2, and 3 entrants: 1 Winner
4 and 5 entrants: 2 Winners
6 or more entrants: 3 Winners
Now, with all that out of the way, we can get straight into the results!!
Okay never mind the forums have said no the ability to tag people and I have homework to do so I'll be back here tomorrow for the final scores and winning cards!
In the meantime, if anybody would like any particular stats about the entries/winners, feel free to ask for them, I'd be happy to find out! Also if anyone thinks they've won and wants to be introduced with a certain title or description, tell me that too.
Anyways, I'll be back here at 6:00 Pacific Standard Time for the final results!
At last, I have returned from the blind eternities to deliver the results of the challenge! Without any further ado, I present: The standings!
14th: In 14th place we have a very recent newcomer to the scene, having joined the forums on the very first day of 2021. Their designs have improved considerably in his time here, and I can only hope they continue to get more refined, It's @TheDukeOfPork!
13th: Our 13th place winner has been around a little longer than the Duke, and it seems that they've always got a wacky and wonderful new idea to pull out of their hat! The mind behind Ganford themself, it's @feralitator!
12th: Our 12th place winner isn't only a masterful cardsmith, but also an excellent writer. Anyone who interacted with TOC3 will have heard of their character, the angelic warrior Brynn! It's @SpellPiper2213!
11th: In 11th place we have someone even younger than the Duke, having joined January 11th. This cardsmith has less than 100 visits to their name, and although their designs are still a little rough around the edges, there's a lot of potential in or 11th place winner @Firemind713!
10th: In 10th place we have a cardsmith approaching their 6th cardsmithing anniversary! They seemingly are very elusive however, only having 567 visits to the forums throughout their nearly 6 years. This cardsmith makes very simple and clean designs, and I think their favorite color might be red, it's @Red_Tower!
9th: I like to think our 9th place finisher can see through mechanics and into the design intent behind them. They're a frequent entrant in the Mechanix challenges and an almost as frequent finalist in them. Their designs are always intriguing to see. Hailing all the way from Finland (I think), it's @TenebrisNemo!
8th: In 8th place we have the mad scientist of MTGCS. This cardsmith has an intimate connection with card frames and is able to bend and twist them to their will. Creator of many a mechanic seemingly thought impossible, it's the madlad himself, @MemoryHead!
7th: Almost everyone's heard of our 7th place finisher, and for good reason. Their designs are some of the best on the site, and capture the essence of what a great custom design is: Clean, efficient, exploratory, and visually pleasing. It's the one and only @shadow123!
6th: Our next entrant may not be as out of the box as Memoryhead, but their designs are brilliant nonetheless. Deceptively subtle yet still complex, visually pleasing and always interesting, the person who somehow made a card that fit 8 challenges all at once: It's @Temurzoa!
5th: Our 5th place finisher is a master of the aesthetic of a magic card. Pulling beautiful art out of their sleeve and finding equally striking lines of text to match, their cards are simple, but with game-changing effects that are as powerful as they are visually pleasing. It's @Fallen_Lord_Vulganos!
4th: Our 4th place finisher really caught my eye. A newcomer to the forums and to the site as well, I hadn't seen them until they entered this challenge. Although somewhat pushed, power wise, this cardsmith's entries made up for it with the ingenuity on display. The wild card of the contest, @Jadefire!
3rd: In 3rd place, we have objectively one of the most dedicated cardsmiths on the site. Their writing wowed the audience in TOC3, as did their champion! They made enough supporting cards to have their own saga, and make their own they did! From Brazil (I think), @CassZero!
2nd: This cardsmith is also very young to MTGCS, but has proven their skill throughout their frequent forum visits, as well as their wacky and wonderful card designs. With a lotta wacky, a lotta wonderful, and some spice to taste, it's our very own Kiwi (I think) @TheRacingTurtle!
1st: This is it. Our first place finisher. This cardsmith is relatively young, having joined in the summer of 2020, but they have very quickly grown into an established member of the site and the forums. It seems this cardsmith has an almost endless well of out of the box ideas, almost all of them make it to card form, certainly one of the reasons they held the most entries out of anybody in the challenge. With a love of bunnies and a love of cardsmithing to match, having gone above and about to win first place, it's @AboveAndAbout!
My most heartfelt congratulations to all the winners! It's been a wonderful contest and I had a blast checking the forums every morning to see what sort of stuff you all had posted. I know I had a ton of fun creating and judging this challenge, and I really hope you all had fun making cards for it as well!
At this time tomorrow, I'm going to be back in this thread again, going over my thoughts on the winning cards of each challenge.
Again, my biggest and best congratulations to all the winners, and really everyone who interacted with the contest, it was really great to see! I hope you all enjoyed, and if you want some more Usaername goodness coming your way, you don't have to wait long. I have another challenge planned to start sometime soon. I can't tell you exactly what it is yet, but here's a hint: Might want to start thinking about characters...
Anyways, that's it and that's all. Again, I'll be back tomorrow with the cards that won, and i'll be happy to give feedback on any entry. Please give one last round of applause to our winner @AboveAndAbout!!
Congratulations all, and thanks again @Usaername for a fantastic set of challenges. That would've been a monumental effort to put together and judge. All the respect to my wonderful neighbours to the east, I'm actually an Aussie
Thanks @Usaername for organizing such an epic challenge! As enjoyable as it must've been to go through all the submissions, that doesn't negate the work and the time involved so congrats on making it to the end of the marathon.
Wow, I've been at this off and on for nearly 6 years? And only been on the forums that little? Maybe I really am elusive haha.
But seriously, congrats to all the winners, especially Above&About, Turtle, and Cass. Y'all really went at this thing and probably made some of the most cards for a single contest that I seen.
And an enormous thank you to Usaername, this was a pretty big contest with a lot of variety and really seemed to engage a lot of people. If I wasn't as busy with other things I would have submitted more, because there were plenty of interesting prompts to respond to. Looking forward to your next outing (especially if I need to make a character for it).
Congrats to other winners! Didn't expect to win something out of this, since I only got time to make two entries, so this was a happy surprise. Thank you for hosting and for the shoutouts, @Usaername! I would be interested to see you favorite any two cards of mine which you personally like. Kiitos!
I was kinda expecting a low rank, as I only thought long and hard about a few cards. But hey, it was still fun! Congrats to everyone else! I'm getting curious about your hint Usaername...

Ciao!
Random anecdote, I was challenged to make a soy sauce and brown sugar ice cream once, it ended up tasting like burnt vegemite. Was truly horrifying.

@TheDukeOfPork 12, 13, and 14 were all tied, actually
it just happens sometimes. one time I spent 8 hours straight writing a 3200-word essay and only got a B
Then you could post here the results and scores for each challenge.
