[Mini-Challenge] Get a Clue!
Welcome to Get a Clue, my latest challenge! This is going to be a smaller contest (hence the mini-challenge tag in the name) before I start the New Capenna Challenge when the next set releases. Now then, let’s get to sleuthing!
Rules
As you may have already guessed, this contest is all about investigating and clue tokens. This mechanic was introduced in Shadows over Innistrad, and has been used occasionally in other sets since (examples below). Clues are artifact tokens that you can pay 2 mana and sacrifice to draw a card, and are created by the Investigate keyword.
Rules
- Each card must either investigate and/or care about clues in some way.
- Judging will be based on primarily balance and flavor, with artist citing breaking ties.
- Entries are due Monday, April 25th, or the Monday after SNC prerelease weekend.
- You may submit up to 3 entries, one of which can be a card made before the start of the contest.
Prizes
- First place gets 4 favorites, a follow, and the ability to nominate an honorable mention.
- Second place gets 3 favorites, a follow, and the ability to nominate an honorable mention.
- Third place gets 2 favorites, a follow, and the ability to nominate an honorable mention.
- Honorable mentions get 1 favorite.

I really enjoy the flavor of this card, and the effect is simple, but unique. It also has the possibility to be quite powerful in the right deck. Overall, really enjoyed this design. You get 4 favorites, and the ability to nominate an honorable mention!
2nd Place - Suspicious Cargo by @SpellPiper2213
The flavor really comes through on this one, and I think that the fact this scales with multiplayer is really interesting. Overall a solid, quality design. You get 3 favorites, and the ability to nominate an honorable mention!
3rd Place - Sissibelle, Truth Masker by @Jadefire
This card is super interesting, and I like how its ward essentially forces your opponent to skip one of their draws. It feels like it could certainly be quite powerful, while still having limitations such as giving the opponent clues to pay the ward. Great entry! You get 2 favorites and the ability to nominate an honorable mention!
Honorable Mentions
If you placed, you have the ability to nominate an honorable mention, which is essentially a place where you can shine the spotlight on a card that you particularly liked. Smiths who receive an honorable mention get 1 extra favorite. You may not choose one of your own cards, or a card that received 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.My vote for HM goes to Intrepid Archaeologist.
