Using mana symbols within Active Ability text

Hey all, new to the card editor. Having a really good time figuring out formats and creating cards. I've come across a problem regarding mana symbols in the Active Ability text.

After selecting tapping/mana cost, I attempt to use "{g}" to insert the Forest mana symbol, but during card preview, the hard {g} text shows up instead of the symbol. Am I missing something? Or are you unable to do that within the Active Ability editor? I can always just recreate it in passive ability, but it would be nice to just insert the mana symbol.

Thanks in advance for any answers. Cheers!

  • Yeah, if you're doing something like "{t}: add {g} to your mana pool," then you've just got to use the Passive Ability section. Unless there's something I've been missing. :P
  • Okay, that's what I figured. Thank you!

If you're still around, I have one more problem I come across randomly.

I find that the text size doesn't always scale down. I'll make a couple cards with no problems, but on the next card, text doesn't scale and runs off of the bottom.

    Any ideas?
  • I think I figured out the problem. The mana/tap symbols don't scale text size. At least on the Modern card template. A little disappointing, but oh well. I'll make due.

Yeah. I'm gonna paste something here that I posted somewhere else, so it might be a little out of place. But you had it right, anything using the {} symbols will default to the larger the text size, but you can generally fix any over run and such.

I think it's worth mentioning that on the Modern frame the text shrinks at 121 characters, so if you want your text to be smaller just add some spaces.
Also on the Modern frame if your text is small and you would rather have it large you can add {} to the end of your text to enlarge it. This will generally result in a double spacing between lines. So if you want single spacing (to save space or whatever) just check the preview to see where you want the next line to start, go back and put your cursor in front of the word you want to be the next line and hit Enter.

Maybe I'll make a Modern frame tutorial some time.
  • Awesome, I appreciate the responses. Thank you sir/ma'am.

    Cheers!
