Revel Challange

edited September 2015 in Contests and Challenges
Hello There!

I have recently designed a cool ability called Revel, and I wanted to see some other cards with the ability on it.

Revel is shown as an ability like Raid or Formidable, and here is the basic mechanic:

For noncreature spells:

Revel -- If this spell were to resolve successfully...

For creature spells:

Revel-- If this creature were to deal combat damage successfully...

The next part is up to you, although the next part must have a bonus if the effect involves another card with revel. Its a little complicated to explain, so I just have some examples:

http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/goblin-search-party-1?list=set&set=1711

The winner will receive a favorite and a trophy!

  • Does Revel replace the effect, or is it additional?

Before we get started with the card-making...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "This effect only resolves if this spell resolves" strikes me as quite the epitome of redundancy. I mean what does this limit even do, really? The effect won't resolve when it's countered or fizzles? Just like every existing effect? On every existing spell?
    What am I missing here??
To make things more confusing, the revel effect on one of your non-creature example cards isn't bound to resolving, but dealing damage...

Plus, the creature version seems quite clunkily worded, it's hard to tell if you want it to trigger whenever damage happens, or instead of the damage...

    Clarifications, please :V
  • @Chairforce the effect of the card is what I meant sorry if it wasn't clear. Like for example the revel effect wont occur with Extreme Temperature unless the damage resolves, like a bonus effect. It encourages the opposing player to use their counterspells or protection spells so you wont have a bonus. The creature card honestly doesn't have the best wording but it deals both combat damage and the revel effect. Here is another example to help out with the loose knots:

    @Beeswax It is additional
