What do you think would be a cool origin for the multiverse?

If you've been to my other forums, you'll recognize my Mindmakers, an aura-like enchantment that is the creation of a non-physical being. Now, I know that Wizards of the Coast, like all companies, ignores fan ideas for a reason-it's just too much clutter for them to sort through. However, we still have our own awesome ideas; for me, the Mindmakers sounds really cool. Feel free to share your own idea of the origin of the multiverse, and how it could tie into an upcoming set (assuming it will).

  • My origin of the multiverse idea is that the first planeswalker (One for each world) created these planes that are in the multiverse assuming the Ugin is one of them he created Tarkir as for the others it's a complete mystery and maybe the eldrazi are the essence of those old planeswalker who hated the idea of the multiverse and other worlds being connected and the old planeswalkers are the soul of those worlds like Ugin was on Tarkir and Progenties might have been a planeswalker before dying.
  • @Latinas I like it, but there are more planes than there are or ever were known about, or infinite planes. I suppose you could say that when planeswalkers are born, another plane immediately pops into existence?
  • @dudedaniel that could work
  • @Latinas So each planeswalker has a plane, which is a perfect reflection of their personality... if they ever find their home plane, they will live in bliss for their entire lives?

@dudedaniel most likely but this might had happened only before the mending My problem is that the people might won't want an overlord which also believes me to think that Alara is Nicol Bolas' plane and that Innistrad probably is either Liliana's or Sorin's.
  • @Latinas No, they won't be an overlord- it's an instant bliss for life
  • What about Narset? And Sarkhan? Is there a plane that embodies Narset out there that is not Tarkir?
  • @Gelectrode I said before the mending.

THE MENDING is when planeswalkers were downed from their god like powers before the mending planeswalkers where immortal.
  • true, but then what about Jace with Ravnica? He would be fine staying there for the rest of his life.
  • I believe that Dominaria (the plane of Time Spiral and all blocks prior to Mirrodin except Homelands and Arabian Nights) should play some role in this discussion. It produced no fewer than seventeen planeswalkers and is the current Nexus of the Multiverse; things that happen on Dominaria often affect other planes. The events of Time Spiral for example, in which Dominaria's timestream began to fray, trapped the spirits of the dead on Ravnica (creating Agyrem http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=198090 ) and weakened the barrier between the mortal and spirit world on Kamigawa (causing the war between the two). However, there are also planes confirmed to be older than Dominaria (Equilor http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=198092 ), so it's a toss-up, really.
  • Little known fun fact: the myojin of nights reach was granted temporary Planeswalker status when the great kami war took place. She later was able to transport toshiro umezawa to dominaria and took his eyesight. His line eventually came to tetsuo umezawa, the one that would defeat and kill Nicol bolas.
  • What The #^($!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea that toshiro had sons! and His great-great whatever son defeated Nichol Bolas?!!
  • Before I saw this, I hadn't put much thought to it all, but now that I've put some thought to it, I think I've come up with a solid theory. Dominaria could very well be the center of the multiverse, but why? My theory would see every plane as once being part of a single plane. Perhaps something that happened in the region that could be identified as Dominaria now caused the split. Being the center of the multiverse, it would have been the center of this "panverse" and so something done to it could have caused the split. The Spark could perhaps be a side-effect of this event, a repercussion that helps keep the planes connected in more ways than just being affected by the events on Dominaria. Separated, each plane developed in its' own way, ultimately resulting in the diverse set of planes seen today, from Ravnica to New Phyrexia.
  • @NoahtheBoah36- Good idea, very well thought out.
  • In before Big Bang theory

@NoahtheBoah36 I would accept that theory except the fact that you included New Phyrexia in the mix. Karn was directly responsible for creating that plane (Argentum) in the first place.
  • So as for the origin of the Multiverse, I can't explain how things became the way they were up until this point, but I believe that the "infinite" planes of existence were each carved out of the blind eternities by an equal number of Planeswalkers. Before the Mending, Planeswalker were alot more powerful than they are today. Glacian made Phyrexia for Yawgmoth, and Karn made Argentum to house the Mirari-transformed, Memnarch. Planeswalkers could create pocket worlds for themselves as a base of operations. Back when mana was a tad more tangible, (Arena) I'd like to think that some Planeswalker in hoarding mana invariably caused a plane to develop much in the way theorists believe our planet evolved. That over time, planes developed on their own to become the Alara or the Ravnica we know today. Planeswalkers previsionist didn't have personal agendas except to amass more power and they did that by essentially doing what we do in Magic. It isn't that far of a stretch then to assume that some of them didn't make it back "home" thus, allowing planes to develop unchecked. And the beauty of the infinite planes theory is that there are so many we may never visit even a fraction of them in our travels. And we can easily explain away mishaps such as the Arkhos/Theros issue or the Tarkir/Mongseng issue.
  • @Syrix I included it because I was just saying random planes. Plus, New Phyrexia is just the new name for a pre-existing plane.

@NoahtheBoah36 Yes, New Phyrexia, formerly Mirrodin, formerly Argentum, formerly nothing, brought into being by Karn -Canon

Karn created Argentum. Nothing fabricated here will change that.
