Mining for Gems: Earthrealm Bejeweled (Best Card Contest)
Due to the massive failure of Volume Two of my Mining for Gems series, it's time to try this again! For this contest, bring forth your best cards and make them count!
Rules:
- Up to ten entries per person
- Any card you own may be entered
- Entries may not have more than 3 favorites on them (at time of entry)
- For each card entered, state one reason you think it should win, and say what sort of set it was made for (if applicable) and what it is balanced for (Standard, Modern or Vintage)
- Cards must be at least partly original. They may be based on a card, but no MTG remakes or proxies
- No cards from anonymous users, even if you can prove you own them.
- By entering a card you agree to allow me to remake your card for the Invaders of Earthrealm set if I wish. However, I may not do so without giving you credit.

1 Favorite - This bad boy should win because it's awesome!

I'd probably say Vintage. Someone's gonna find a way to get 6 black one-drops [ somehow ], fix their mana, and cast this as early as possibly. I dunno, Shadowborn Apostle, anyone?
@Memnarchitect already asked this, but can spells have shroud or hexproof?
BTW, nice card! Even if it has shroud on the card's text, you don't have to worry! I'll just translate it into a new mechanic!

It should win because I collected the many pieces of much instead of the much pieces of many and deserve compensation for all these goblin corpses.
Balanced for modern. Wasn't made for a set.
Only has 1 favorite.
Vintage has too much reliance on nonbasic lands. This gives mana and kills two of them while avoiding Force of Will.

Modern has good uses for token generators although Minion is an obsolete creature type.

Modern card to help break up combo decks.

Standard, an enchantment to help against aggro.
http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/hilting
Standard, to help against the midrange fatties.
http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/invincible-shield-maiden
Standard, an anti-aggro creature.

Standard, to help control decks vs aggro
http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/love-skull
Standard, reusable card drawing for blue

Vintage, for yet another combo deck

I feel like I should've asked this a century ago, but how the hell do you look though those 2000+ plus cards of your's?
Edit : I understand you have 30+ sets, but seriously, do you actually have the time to click through all those pages?
To simplify and re-iterate:
Spells can have hexproof/shroud, but those abilities do not function in zones other than the battlefield and therefore wouldn't do anything for an instant or sorcery.
Split-Second works better. (As you've pointed out, spells that 'can't be countered' are still targetable and therefore vulnerable to rare things like Venser, Shaper Savant)
Illuminating example: Thrun the Last Troll has both a 'can't be countered' clause and hexproof.
Reason: Green decks normally have little creatures that give you mana to get your big creatures out. Well, this one is both.
A lot of times PWs can take over a game and sometimes they need a threat to think about.
Swiftcover Hateblade - because it gives Mardu a useful tool against control decks.

Emerian Reinforcements - a cheap consistent enabler for Ally decks

Fallar, Arcane Battlemaster - it's a Human Wizard and it can be a potent draw engine

Show of Strength - tutor and counterspell hate in one

Featherscale Coatl - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/featherscale-coatl-1?list=set&set=1430
This card is simply very useful for the cost, that is why it should win. Spikes should like it. It has two favorites at the time of posting this. Featherscale Coatl a mix of WOTC's Lorescale Coatl and Thrummingbird.

Duskmantle Psychic - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/duskmantle-psychic?list=set&set=1430
This was designed for another contest that required me to design a card for existing WOTC art. It is one of my favorite designs that I have done. A Psychatog / Vampire Nitghthawk amalgamation that I made because I like both those cards and thought they'd be potent together. Has two favorites at this time. It is powerful, and useful, so it should win.

Spellstifle Triton - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/spellstifle-triton-1?list=set&set=1430
It's the Spellstutter Sprite that Merfolk decks need, so clearly it is a winner. It has zero favorites right now.

Self Assurance - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/self-assurance?list=user
This card isn't particularly powerful, but I'm pleased with the overall design. I think the name, art, ability, and flavor text all work really nicely together. Since this challenge is about designing cards and this card checks all the boxes from a design standpoint, it should win. The flavor text makes reference to the set this was designed for, Forgotten Dragons from @Noobplayzgames. Though, it seems like a card that could easily fit into Theros block standard. It has two favorites at time of posting.
