Nir is only a foolish boy searching for a way out of his curse. He has traveled for many years learning skills a boy should never learn all in vain. He has hopes this tournament will free him and will do whatever it takes to win.
@shadow123@Bombman I'm sorry I haven't written more. I have been busy with homework and I haven't had the time. Feel free to include Sylva in your stories if you want. Thanks for being such great friends to both Sylva and me!
I will write what Coltras has been doing for the past two days tomorrow; I don't have time now. I will just say that he has been training with Roland, Kift, and Sunex and has gotten better.
A ranger approaches the tent that stands where Karnax once slept.
The paladin talks to the ranger, "I assume your here to deliver the plants?"
"Yes," he replies.
The paladin opens the tent and motion into the tent. The ranger walks in followed by the paladin. The elf is seated at the far end of the table in the tent.
"The plants, please," she says authoritatively.
The ranger places a bundle of plants onto the table. The elf pick it up examines it for a couple seconds then places a sac onto the table. The ranger pick it up examines the contents for a couple seconds then looks at the elf.
"The job is done. Now off with you," the elf says.
The ranger walks out the tent and the paladin and elf begin to pack up the tent. Once the tent is packed up and on their mule they head for the gates of Eternstor. They walk through the forest for about a hour util they find Karnax and the other three paladins in a clearing and by this time it's deep into the night. at the center of the clearing is an unlit bonfire with a table beside it. The paladins take their places around the soon to be fire with the elf and Karnax at opposite ends. After a deep breath Karnax spews a fireball that ignites the fire he then walks into the fire. The elf approaches the table picking up a pestle and mortar and placing the herbs inside she grids the herbs into a pulp before placing them into her hand.
She begins to cast a spell, "My mighty lord Karnax your power is endless, your grandeur boundless and your intellect immeasurable. Let mountains crumble, let cities burn and let world bow in your wake." She tosses the pulp into the fire and it immediately burn black. "Let the fires of of power engulf you and allow you to overcome all challenges," she utters.
The black fire begin to absorb themselves into Karnax's scales. With a mighty roar the fire goes out and Karnax takes a deep breath in. They quickly pack up their gear and head back to Eternstor.
I hate to be that guy, but I think this is probably a case of “everyone’s thinking it, I’m just saying it.” Not saying there are any, but we should probably be aware of potential alts at this point in time, where just one or two entries determines whether everybody’s in or almost half the people get cut. Again, not saying anyone here is an alternate account, just making sure there's an awareness of the possibility.
( @Lujikul - I agree with you, but in the end there will be 1 true champion, so 99% of competitors get "cut" at some point. )
Attention!
( The day has arrived and the tournament begins the knockout competition. The best 32 champions will be chosen to fight in the tournament. No more new contenders will be accepted from now on. )
The sun was shining through the cracks of the curtains in Sylva's room. Slowly gaining consciousness she starts to rise from her pillow. She sits up and realizes that her hair looks like a skyrat's cloud. She feels for her hammer and removes her knife. Staring at the blade she lines the swirling runes on the blade. She started feeling homesick again and she was feeling a little down. Then the noise of a trumpet outside startled her. "It's the day that they choose who is in the tournament!" She exclaimed loudly. Reattaching her hammer's head she rushes down stairs with her hammer in one hand and a hairbrush in the other. She had to find her friends!
@sanjaya666 My understanding was that "mage" and "magus" are both gender-neutral terms short for "magician," an umbrella term for all magic-users including Wizards, Shamans, Druids, and Clerics. @MrPirate89 Sorry if these aren't Sunex's actual powers, I just judged from the card's abilities.
Part IV comes on the same day as the following events: -Pele and Jahalion train together -Tai meets with Tamiyo -Konus fights Nya and Tai (that night)
IV. Partners Coltras Drasonkai awoke at dawn, ate a quick breakfast, and headed to the training grounds. Standing there, with his back facing Coltras, was Roland. "Good morning, Roland," said Coltras. The others arrived. A bird hopping around grew into Kift, while Sunex slunk over in shadow. "I brought a healer for my bullets," said Roland, gesturing to a white-robed guard sitting on the side. Roland fought Kift first, while Coltras battled Sunex.
Sunex drew himself up to a height of about five feet, and the flame on his back grew hotter and brighter. He began to hover in the air. Coltras stood ready to counter whatever Sunex did. The imp lunged at him, slashing with claws. Coltras swung his staff around to deflect the blow. The claws left scorch marks where they struck. The agile Sunex darted around trying to get a hit in. Coltras deflected most of the hits, but the scratches left a burn and a gash. Coltras blasted Sunex away from him with watery magic, putting out his fire. It quickly burst up again, and Sunex lunged forward. This time, Coltras shot bursts of water to stop the assault. His staff glowed with red energy. However, after a little while of this, Coltras was dumbfounded - Sunex had countered Coltras's water blast with one of his own. Sunex had apparently learned countermagic. Coltras attempted to blast Sunex back again, but Sunex negated the blow and advanced on Coltras. Every time Coltras tried to force Sunex back, his efforts were frustrated by his own magic. Finally, Sunex slashed with his claws again. Coltras attempted to swing his staff, which was now charged with enough energy to defeat Sunex, but the imp dodged and slashed Coltras's chest, knocking him down and knocking the staff out of his hands. Sunex had won. Apparently, Kift had defeated Roland by turning into an elephant, withstanding Roland's bullets, and stepping on him. The white-robed healer mended everyone's wounds, and then they started again. Kift and Coltras fought. Kift changed forms blisteringly fast, making it hard for Coltras to keep track of him. First he was a griffin, then a lizard, then a hawk slashing him from behind. Coltras was quickly defeated. Finally, Coltras fought Roland. Coltras tried to use a spell he hadn't used in a while - a spell to move objects. He planned to use the spell to deflect Roland's bullet. But it came so fast...and then pain erupted in his shoulder and gut as the bullets hit. The four continued to train. After losing to all three of his partners, Coltras started to get better. He countered Sunex's copied counterspells and defeated him with a cascade of water. He smashed Kift with his energy-charged staff. And he trained his reflexes to deflect one of Roland's bullets. He was getting better at the telekinetic spell. The healer and all the trainees were exhausted, so they took a two-hour break. After lunch, Coltras was walking around the training grounds when a minotaur walked up to him. "My name is Koorir," he said. "Can I train with you?" "Sure," said Coltras. Koorir was armed with a long axe and two small hatchets. He easily defeated Coltras, but after an hour, Coltras started to get better at melee combat. He was reminded of his confrontation with Eetu and his magic-draining powers. Coltras's magic wasn't much use against Koorir, either. Later on, Coltras was able to better defend against Koorir with improved melee skills, though he was still by no means close to winning. They both were tired and left the training grounds. On the way back to his room, Coltras stopped to read a notice posted for someone to collect herbs for the dragon Karnax.
Back in his room, Coltras took a look at the purple liquid he had retrieved from the abandoned house. He had a small chemistry kit in his bag and also got some herbs from the surrounding woods to run tests with. By adding water, Coltras deduced that the fluid was oil-based. He burned a little of it, but it was diluted by something, causing it to burn very slowly. Using herbs and chemicals, Coltras managed to isolate the oil from the other substance. It was a dark, sticky, evil-smelling black resin or gum, likely from a tree. A quick magical analysis showed that it was imbued with black mana. The oil was just normal oil. Coltras remembered the skull-shaped lamp he had found the fluid in. The smoke from when he burned part of the fluid was thick, dark, and copious. Coltras deduced that the fluid was an essential oil incense designed to hide the area with smoke and aid with channeling black mana. He put the sap back in the bottle and burned off the oil, venting the smoke through the window. Another lead to follow.
