Rules question: If you use an ability that makes something "become the color of your choice" like Distorting Lens, does it retain previous colors? If the answer is "no," as I believe it to be, then could we shorten
@AustinSmith's Manashift [Cost] (You may cast this spell for its manashift cost. If you do, it becomes _*color_ and loses all other colors.)
I suppose we could say "...it becomes _*color_ indefinitely."
@Faiths_Guide Rules answer: It would say "in addition to its other colors" if it were additive. My opinion is that you'd have simpler reminder text and a more fleshed-out rules text in the CR. It would likely read, as you suggested: Manashift [cost](You may cast this spell for its manashift cost. If you do, it becomes [color(s)].) Then do something like: CR 7XX.1 - Manashift represents two static abilities, one that functions while the card with manashift is on the stack and another that functions both while it’s on the stack and while it’s on the battlefield. “Manashift [cost]” means “You may cast this card by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost.” and “If you chose to pay this spell’s manashift cost, it becomes the colors represented by its manashift cost. It retains this color identity for as long as it's a spell on the stack or a permanent on the battlefield." Paying a card’s manashift cost follows the rules for paying alternative costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2f–h.
Defining a color change (or any other quality for that matter) without defining a duration is considered indefinite. The reminder text can be helpful but not necessary, just know that without any sort of marker it can be tricky to recall the changes.
Front side using Two-Faced by @KJMartin: Two-Faced (You may have this creature enter the battlefield transformed under an opponent's control.)
Flip side using my own mechanic--adjusted with help from @Tomigon: Leaderless (At the beginning of your upkeep, choose a player at random. If an opponent is chosen this way, this creature attacks that player this turn if able. Otherwise, tap this creature.)
I think this wording for holy shield is more succinct and should still work because "instead" should make any phrase a replacement effect for any other effect.

*ThumbsUp*
After careful consideration, I would have to say "What he said"
