The Colorless Eldrazi Challenge
Welcome to the Colorless Eldrazi Challenge!
In this contest, your task is to design cards that use exclusively colorless mana and exemplify the Eldrazi flavor.
Contest Rules
1. No joke cards.
2. Old and new cards are allowed.
3. A maximum of 3 cards may be submitted.
4. Each entry must use colorless mana.
5. No other colors/types of mana may be used.
6. Each entry should be appropriate for printing in a standard legal set from a play design perspective.
7. Each entry must have a distinct Eldrazi flavor (SEE BELOW).
Eldrazi Flavor
The Eldrazi are an unfashionable, Lovevraftian-inspired race unique to MTG. They are flavored as alien, unknowable, contradictory, and relentless to name a few. Mechanically, they should do things that would feel strange and otherworldly. Here are some examples:
- Friendly to odd numbers
- Hostile to even numbers
- Interact with exile in atypical ways
- Switch power and toughness
-Cast triggers
Don't limit yourself to just these examples. Try your hand at innovating with the Eldrazi theme and carving our interesting mechanical space that fits their Eldritch flavor. Eldrazi tend to be complex, though, so make sure that your rarity is appropriate.
Judging Criteria
Each entry will be judged out of 100 points by the following criteria:
Templating: 10
Rarity: 10
Flavor: 15
Card Design: 35
Play Design: 30
Prizes
1st: 5 faves of your choice
2nd: 4 faves of your choice
3rd: 3 faves of your choice
4th: 2 faves of your choice
5th: 1 fave of your choice
Deadline
This contest will close for judging on Sunday, March 2nd at 11:59 PM EST. No late entries will be accepted.

Question, what about devoid? Many Eldrazi cards "have colors" but are devoid; would such a submission be allowed? (I realize that your current rules prohibit it.)
This challenge is specifically for colorless mana, so technically you could make a card with devoid but it’s mana cost would not be allowed to have any colored mana symbols in it so it would likely be redundant
Fair enough. Follow up question: is it alright to "force" colorless mana symbols into an Innistrad Eldrazi theme even though they didn't use any in Innistrad sets?

1st Place: @Brainifyer with Sieger of Reality [89 pts]
I thought that this was a very clean and elegant way to get the alien flavor across with a new yet simple concept. The tracking of CMC as power is in someways easier than toughness as CMC cannot change. Great design! You get 5 faves of your choice.
2nd Place: @EternalWolf88 with Inversion Drone [88 pts]
I like how you tied the mechanical flavor of the card with the name and also that you correctly made it a processor. It was also good that you gave a mana cost to the activation. This plays with combat math a lot so having the activation be colorless mana restricts it to a singlr time per turn most likely unless you are playing a colorless only deck. Nice job! You get 4 faves of your choice.
3rd Place: @Operator with Warped Devourer [79 pts]
The symmetry of this card helps with the triple ingest comprehension for sure. I like the flavor text to tie the card together as well. Overall, this is a simple but solid design. You get 3 faves of your choice.
4th Place: @EternalWolf88 with Hedron Subverter [76 pts]
This card is too powerful as the whole package as it can stockpile a ton of mana on a reasonable body but I really like the final ability as a way for the Eldrazi to punish the use of colored mana against them. Creative design! You get 2 faves of your choice.
5th Place: @chansutz with Impending Ruin [74 pts]
The flavor of this card is awesome and that is really what brought it up. The power level, particularly for suspend card that can’t be countered (when suspended) or otherwise interacted with, is just too high. I think this concept could be translated much better onto a 6/7 mana enchantment with the same overall effect. Great job! You get 1fave of your choice.
