@sorinjace yeah I would say let's go but I'm also not gonna avoid the fact that Sorin trapped Nahiri in the Helvault when she got upset he didn't help her. And she was stuck in there for a thousand years. Personally, I'm actually a little upset that Sorin is back. I was so satisfied the way Wizards ended that storyline between them. Either way, I think Sorin is retreating from the spotlight. He sacrificed so much for Avacyn and building Innistrad into a fortress that I think he's gotten weaker. But who knows? Maybe the fact that his entire family is dead has enraged him enough to get uber powerful?
For real though, I doubt (and really hope) Sorin and Nahiri get back along. He put her in jail for a thousand years while her plane was massacred and she in retaliation massacred his plane and his entire family. Also, I don't think Nahiri likes Ugin that much cause he didn't show up either (even though he was dead) but they've got bigger problems than talking about the past so I doubt they'll just casually talk about that stuff hahaha
I just saw The Wanderer, and I am so confused. I was certain that it was going to be Mu Yanling, but it would seem that isn't the case. Not only that, but there is no subtype!
@Ranshi922 I'm totally signing onto the deal that it's Elspeth. Originally I also thought that it was gonna be Mu, but like, based on the Theros underworld and stuff, she could come back nameless. I just imagine a scenario that's like:
Bolas: "I am a god! No one can kill me!!! Hahahahaha"
The Wanderer walks up to him, rips of the hat to reveal its Elspeth "I am no one"
Elspeth pulls out the Godsend and murders Bolas and then just casually walks away
Like Elspeth was super close with Ajani. If you look at The Wanderer's art, she's got some nice kneepads that look suspiciously like Ajani's shoulder pad connector. Coincidence? Maybe. But Ajani was gone for quite some time. If he got Elspeth out somehow, gave her some knew armor to protect her identity? who knows?
A couple key differences though: Elspeth is more of a warrior than a mage, and we've only ever seen her with spearlike weapons. Meanwhile, this one has a wooden staff and is clearly wielding some sort of blue magic. It also lacks the overall knightly aesthetic that Elspeth has, as well as lacking a mask of the Returned, which to my knowledge is the only way one who has died can escape the Theros underworld.
Meanwhile, the wanderer has her own stained glass art.
I'm personally convinced that Elspeth simply won't be present in this set. Most blocks or "blocks" bring us new characters as planeswalkers, often one or two. Ixalan and Dominaria both gave us two new walkers (Dominaria's kind of a weird case for this) and there's no doubt in my mind that a set all about planeswalkers would give us the same. The wanderer's general appearance looks more like someone from Kamigawa (is that stereotyping?) which we also know is a fan favorite plane.
I guess it's just for me that the Wanderer's appearance seems Bant-related based on similarities with Ajani's armor, so since Elspeth lived on Bant, and they're nameless, Elspeth seemed like a good bet for me
But also I don't think you're wrong that this set is giving us at least two new walkers @Lujikul . As far as I'm aware, Davriel Cane, Teyo, and the other unknown-ish walker would still be new walkers with their first cards
@Ranshi922 I was gonna say he’s not that bad but then I looked at the other three mana uncommon walkers we’ve gotten and they just straight up did him dirty
Hey guys, reporting here from Reddit. A bunch of people over on r/mtgtcg are thinking that The Wanderer is actually Emrakul. Not a lot of evidence to back up the theory, but if you look at these two images, you can see the similarities between the Wanderer and the angel statue (Which is shown as Emrakul). I'll bring back more evidence when or if I can get it.
The only similarity is the shoulder pad and obscured face, I’m not buying it. Plus, those statues are from after years of the Eldrazi being imprisoned and are depictions of the Merfolk gods.
@pjbear@Lujikul there also was something I saw about Nissa having some dreams about an angel that reminded her of Emrakul, and that was tied to the Wanderer being Emrakul. But if I think if anything, Wizards kinda wrote that Emrakul...locked herself away to avoid this whole shindig? Like the last set that we had that was kinda not leading directly up to this Bolas stuff was Innistrad with Emrakul, and Tamiyo's story revealed that Emrakul basically possessed her to lock herself away in the moon. I think Emrakul could see this coming and was like *swerve* I'm out
As for Nissa, I'm worried something is gonna go down between her and Aurelia. From Nissa's experience, angels aren't all that great; the Zendikar ones were some of the first servants of the eldrazi, and on Innistrad...well. Yeah they basically all went psycho and murdered everyone. Wonder if Nissa is gonna have some tie in with Aurelia or Serra or some other major Angel cause she thinks their a servant of Emrakul?
And based on the flavor text on Kaya's Ghostform and the art for Crush Dissent, I'm a little worried quite a few of the uncommon planeswalkers are not making it out of this fight alive.

And based on the mythic guilds of Ravnica Knight-Errant it looks like she got a mask maybe??

After the card is revealed, so is The Wanderer's story.
