@ArashiKun you need to use a version of the mechanic list, but you are allowed to tweak it to your liking or rename it as I often do.(Which please note if you renamed something or changed it.) You can use any additional mechanics you like on the card otherwise, but you still need showcase the ones from this contest first and foremost. Like on a cooking show when Gordon Ramsay says use pork for this challenge, you can add whatever else you want with it, but pork needs be the star of the dish. Same deal here.

made this for an ask of my friend cause he really likes this "Dino" and I needed an idea for this contest, I altered a little the consume, for working with creature with determined ability and not just with weaker creatures, hope you liked it xD

That's my dirty dozen...no more entries.

  • @ArashiKun - As long as you use one of the listed mechanics, you can add a custom mechanic of your own in addition.

Ok. My next batch of cards you could say are cheaters but since someone else decided to do a sliver contest. I had to make some.

    Lastjustice's reverence breakdown!

@The-DM The existing mechanic I'd compare it to is Soulbond if you remember that. When a creature came into play , you could pair them till one of them died, and they both got a bonus for doing that, such as Silverblade Paladin... https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=240155

So let's say you cast Chao Feng, the creature they made for the example card... https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/chao-feng Once it's in play you can start "pairing" other creatures that enter play afterwards. Once 3 or more are Worshipping Chao Feng, it has flying. You can have more than 3 incase some of them die , but the required for any bonus with this card is 3. There's no benefit for worshipping this creature before 3, as you haven't met it's requirement.

You can make the requirement scale or change based on how many creatures are worshipping it. In case of my creature I made... God-Emperor Oho Sutoku https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/god-emperor-oho-sutoku He gets higher lvls of Bushido for each worshipper he has. He also has protection based on X, which is number of worshippers, so if your opponent has creatures mostly of a certain converted mana cost or the removal you are worried about costs that amount, stopping at say 3 might be better. You can just say screw it and jam as many followers as you can on him and he becomes indestructible, but he's flexible in how you approach it and what the board state requires.

So yeah this mechanic is a bit tricky at a glance, but it's an interesting design space once you grasp it. Especially if you tie other mechanics together with it. So basically put the ability on the card, then put a second line of text saying how many worshipping you want the mechanic to need to become active, and what happens when it's met. If you triggers for each follower and grows with the bonus.

I know, I know, info dump centeral heh, but I am following this thread and thought I'd answer this to best of my ability. If you have more questions feel free message me directly or comment on one of my cards with related abilities. I hope this clears up the mechanic for you and anyone who happens read this all.

On side note I started make an example of what you could do with said mechanic...like why don't just make that a card myself....so my other example of what you can make with this.

  • @The-DM - @Lastjustice said it all very well. My only additional comment is that part of this challenge is exploring the mechanics and finding interpretations on their use.
