Let's go back to Mirrodin(New Phyrexia)! Custom Set Collaboration/Contest. Closed bc it's dead

Okay guys, for those who have no idea what Mirrodin/New Phyrexia is, it is the plane created by Karn that was sadly(or not so sadly. depends on your view point.) invaded by the Phyrexian Plague. This contest is a collaboration where we will return to that plane, and create cards for either of two factions. these include:

-Phyrexians(W U B R G)
-Mirrodin Resistance(W U R G)

The abilties/traits of the two factions (this can be added to if necessary/requested) include:

Phyrexians: Infect, Proliferate

Mirrodin Resistance: Mentor, Detain, Riot, Convoke

Now, for the rules.

1. We will abide by the new Large Set formatting WOTC has started doing, 108 Commons, 80 Uncommons, 53 Rares, 15 Mythics.
2. No more than 5 planeswalkers, 1 of which I already made, 1 of which I'm working on, and one of which has to be Koth.
3. Unless a lot of people join this contest, there will be no limit on the amount of entries.
4. I will judge the cards submitted to this contest. The prizes are:
First Place: Automatic favorite on winning card, 3 other favorites of their choice, and a follow
Second Place: Automatic favorite on winning card, 2 other favorites of their choice, and a follow
Third Place: Automatic favorite on winning card, 2 other favorites of their choice or a follow
Fourth Place: 2 favorite of their choice or a follow
Fifth Place: 2 favorite of their choice
Honorable Mentions: Automatic favorite on card. There will be 2-3 honorable mentions.

The deadline will be when October 4th. Have fun everybody!

So if these are based on the flavor of being the resistance, why are you using Phyrexian mana in the ability on the sword? Also, for the sake of saying it, Phyrexian mana is a very powerful mechanic that's generally kind of overpowered. If you intend to use it at all, tread very carefully.

Also, why do all of the Phyrexian creatures need to be artifact creatures?

As another thing, are you trying to run this as a contest or as set creation? At current you seem to be trying to do both at once, which won't really work because most people will just make one or two cards and then wait for the overly-far-away end of the contest.

You should probably make the end date sooner to avoid the thread dying.
  • It's just an idea that I had that seemed it would feel right. I'll remove that criteria if you provide a good argument, which I am pretty sure you will, so I'm just gonna remove that.
  • If you're asking for an argument of why the sword shouldn't use Phyrexian mana, my main one would be this: It's Phyrexian mana. It basically represents selling your humanity to the Phyrexian corruption in return for power. You know, exactly what the resistance is fighting against. If you take a look through all of the cards printed with Phyrexian mana on them, they all represent Phyrexia and its works and creations.

If you're asking for an argument of why there shouldn't be a requirement of only artifact creatures, it'd be that not very many of the Phyrexian cards are actually artifacts. There are only about fifteen Phyrexian artifact creatures in the New Phyrexia set, only a few of which are actually colored (and would therefore have the potential not to be artifacts). While this is an above-average number, it certainly isn't all of them and the set still contains an overwhelming majority of non-artifact Phyrexian creatures.
  • Can Ajani be in this?
  • @KorandAngels yes
@Memoryhead I used phyrexian mana to show it in a different light. I was using it to show that the resistance will give everything, even their life, to save their home
  • Here is a set that I created for that purpose some time ago:

I can add the lore if you want.
  • @Corwinnn I'm going to assume that you should close this up.
