Just wanted to point out that your suggestion of "Target creature gains hexproof until the beginning of your next end step" is not quite the same as @Credius' original ability. Since the modal can be triggered by casting an instant, having it end at the next end step (regardless of who's) was probably intentional. In this case, however, I think this simpler wording could be used: "Target creature gains hexproof until end of turn."
I agree with your other points, and I also agree that "Human Dragon" sounds better, but I can find no official guidance on the proper ordering of multiple race subtypes. From my observations, it seems that they're alphabetical (Dragon Wurm, Demon Dragon), except when they're not (Human Barbarian Beast, Human Bird, Zombie Dragon, etc). That being said, I can't find any examples of a creature having more than one race subtype, one of those types being Human, and the other being listed before Human. So in summary, yeah probably "Human Dragon" is better? Magic is weird.
Since I've got a couple minutes, right now, everyone has submitted their cards except two people. I'm moving the deadline up to Monday the 21st. If you are not done by then, you won't be eliminated, but you'll have to submit entries for any rounds you're late for before you will be considered for Round 1.
So, I was desperate for ideas, and then I came across the old Lorwyn mechanic, Clash. (Lorwyn had heaps of interesting mechanics, and I don't understand why MaRo hates it, but that's a story for another time). The way clash works, is that both players reveal the top of their library, and whoever has the higher CMC wins the clash, and the card that triggered the clash usually gives him some sort of reward (For more detailed rulings, check out this article: https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Clash ).
In Lorwyn block, this is usually used to portray a chaotic physical brawl, but to me, it looked a lot more like a battle of wits. The card basically made itself:
Took awhile, but I finally got it. Here's Montague! Montague may not look it, but he's a powerful artificer who can craft blades in the blink of an eye that would take a normal backsmith years to create. he specialises in throwing weapons. Spears, knives, shurikens, and rocket propelled battleaxes, if something can be thrown, Montague has probably lodged it in someone's head from 50 yards away.
Alright everyone! Now that we know where we stand, it's time to begin your journey...
(I will get to scoring everyone's entries, but for now, here's the next challenge.)
Round Zero - Heat Two
You finally awaken. Most of remember your identity, but not much else. Others remain shattered shells, clinging on to what shards of thought you can retain. Where are you, and how did you get here? That doesn't matter. What does matter is that you find your bearings. A terrible storm is coming, so you'll need to find shelter, or, if not suitable for you, a place to stay...
Make an artifact, enchantment, or land to represent your surroundings and/or shelter. You will not be eliminated unless you fail to submit an entry in a reasonable amount of time (Max ten days [Oct 31st deadline], but if everyone else is done, I may call it early. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause).
CRITERIA - Must be a land, artifact, or enchantment with CMC 4 or less. - No auras or equipment. Fortifications are okay. - No entries that can transform into card types other than those mentioned above.
Even though it won't really matter, here's the ranking criteria. I will rank your entries, but during round zero, you cannot be eliminated.
- 6 points for overall card balance - 5 points for realism, proper grammar and syntax, and the like - 4 points for following the color pie and the ideals of your color (combo). Instant fail if you use colors outside of your chosen three. (If you have a +, that means you have an unused color slot. You can fill unused slots by submitting a card that is not in your current colors, and one slot will be consumed for each of those colors.) - 3 points for proper rarity and difficulty (Overly basic cards will lose a point. Blatantly simple cards, such as vanilla creatures or far too dull effects on instants/sorceries will lose two,) - 2 points for fitting flavor and overall card feel - You can't resubmit cards you've already submitted in this contest - You'll lose two points if the card was not made within two weeks of this challenge start date.
Des arrived with a splash as he fell into a shallow river.
His aetheric energy core flickered for a moment, then his processor began to reboot again despite of the aquatic condition he was currently lying into. Luckily his inner workings were built to be waterproof, or else he would be turned into a scrap metal by the slightest of a watery assault.
And he slowly rose up after his reactivation, stoically.

I am glad I could offer another perspective.
