Is this how one picks a fight around these parts?
  • @fire12, he probably has, but those cards are banned and restricted in every format. I think Dromaka is a great card for its non-banned status. You can't compare a card that banned in every format, to a card legal in most.
  • Still, Dromaka is far from the best card in magic.
  • You misspelled "My favorite card ever". Ha ha.

These types of discussions, while whimsical and good for a dialog, are very open to personal bias and favouritism. You can look at power 9 and think they are, but they're banned, so they were probably too good. You can look at stuff like Tarmagoyf and think based on deck inclusion, price, and usage, it might be.

One of the delights of MtG, is there is no "best card". It's like arguing what the best song is. There are a lot of logical factors that play into stuff like this, but I don't think they'll ever equate to "best card ever".

Take this one for instance. I can't even post a card, because this is way to vague. Ha ha. I like these kinds of discussions because they show the truer side of a person. Are you a die hard Force of Will user? Do you play casual, tier 1, EDH, modern, vintage? Are you a player or just a collector? All of this stuff factors into your choice. And while you might be able to determine a winner through democracy and a tournament style elimination voting system, even when a victor is crowned, people will argue the results.

That being said, maybe this isn't a discussion and you should have posted the thread and then immediately had it closed. As it stands now, people are just gonna opinion the s*** out of this. Not a bad thing, so long as people understand opinions aren't facts.
  • Let us have a friendly debate. @KorandAngels: Why do you think that Dragonlord Dromoka is the best unbroken card in magic? I simply want to see your reasons, and if I can change your mind about it, or if you can change mine.
  • @Suicidal_Deity I agree. I don't think there is a "best card" and ever will be. It can be your favorite card, sure, because maybe you got a really good game with it and your opponent was playing a blue instant deck, but that doesn't make it "the best card". There can still be games where you mess up and it dies, or where it even messes YOU up. I'm not saying any of this to be rude, just people might be rude to you about it @KorandAngels. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that, but I don't want a miniature war to start over "the best card" because the best card doesn't exist and never will.
  • @SNAPcreator7 I agree, there is no best card, but why not have a "war" over favorite cards? I have many favorite cards, and a persuading argument might convince me to add another to that list.
  • @fire12, a war would just end in Chaos. If we all argued over which cards are "the best", it would get us nowhere except us all being upset. Sure, you can "note" your favorite cards, but I don't think It should turn into a "my cards are better than yours" situation. If you have a favorite card, just state it instead of saying "I have many favorite cards, and a persuading argument might convince me to add another to that list." I can understand what you are saying, share cards all you want, but just don't be arguing about it.

@SNAPcreator7 How can it end in chaos if we are just having a friendly discussion? He makes a point, and I counter that point or accept it, then make a point for a card I think is better. See, what we are having is a friendly debate, and we are both basically doing the system I described. I, for one, am not sure how our discussion could end in chaos.

Do you see the irony? You are literally debating with me to not debate. I agree that the best card doesn't exist, and I also agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Therefore, everyone is also entitled to state their opinions. Then, someone comments on that, either agreeing with the other person, or making reasons for their own opinion. If both people disagree and there is no persuading them, you leave it at that. If you, after my stating of this comment, still disagree with me, we will leave it at that.
  • @fire12 I know that everyone is entitled to their own decisions and opinions, I just don't want an argument. That's all I was trying to say.
  • @KorandAngels If you were going up against a control deck, I would have to agree with you. But otherwise, even a Nyxbloom Ancient would be better.
  • You know, maybe this was too direct. I might have phrased that title too strongly. I heavily appoligise.
  • I had posted this while in a mood of strong DROMOKA WILL SAVE US FROM THE EVIL INSTANTS! mood which I generally get most games on Untap.in I play. At the time, I had had a minor debate with another player on the subject of Dromoka VS ojutai.
  • I'm not complainin bout no arguument
