  • Exo (If this creature would be destroyed while it has a counter on it, it isn't. Instead remove all damage and counters from it.)
  • Zoom [Cost] ([Cost]: Remove target creature blocking this creature from combat.)
  • Stance (Whenever a creature token an opponent controls attacks or blocks, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)

Trawl N (You may cast this spell without paying its mana cost by milling cards from your library until you mill N lands, at least one land of each of this card’s colors.)

    Author’s notes:

Trawl appears in both black and green.

N is usually the card's CMC divided by two, rounded up.

    Here’s an example of Trawl.

  • @RandomFandom, that is game-breaking as hell. Do you know why? Because there is a little something called dredge.
  • @joemamajoe How is that game-breaking? Dredge is a recursion mechanic that needs you to self-mill, and Trawl is a cost circumvention mechanic that needs you to self-mill. I don’t see how that breaks the game. Please elaborate.

    @RandomFandom
It would be a type of deck, not exactly the mechanics. You fill the graveyard by triggering many graveyard interaction cards. It would really be a very strong mechanic.
Like Prized Amalgam, Creeping Chill, Silversmote Ghoul and many other interactions.
I think it should be more restricted, because in the initial hand you can mill the entire deck.
The deck does not even need to have the requested land.

Turn 1, try to cast - I don't have the lands and mill my entire deck. I deal 12 damage by Creeping Chill and have 24 power on the battlefiled and don't lose by mill because I put Worldspine Wurm on my deck.

I hope I didn't understand the wrong mechanics.
  • @CassZero Ooh, now I see. Scary. I can’t see a way for it to require having those lands in your deck, so that invalidates the whole mechanic. Oops. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  • @joemamajoe Are you trying to get a mechanic into the Mechanix challenges, or do you legitimately feel the need to post like 45 mechanics? The last 2-and-4/5 pages are entirely your stuff.
  • @RandomFandom, I am making a set on MSE with one card for every mechanic I've made, but I want to set to be 350 cards. Therefore, I need more mechanics.

______ journeys N. (Exile it with N time counters on it. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend.)

    EX)
    _______________________________________
    Journey of Ascension                      WU
    _______________________________________
    Instant
    _______________________________________

Target creature journeys 3. The next
time it enters the battlefield, put a
+1/+1 counter on it. (Exile it with
three time counters on it. If it doesn't
    have suspend, it gains suspend.)

    _______________________________________

  • Glory (When this creature enters the battlefield, if you don't have a champion, this creature becomes your champion.)

The card then has abilities pertaining to your champion. Glory is pretty much just there so that the abilities will do something.

Glory is most often seen in red and white, sometimes green.
  • This isn't exactly a mechanic, more of a card subtype, so I don't know if that would belong here, or somewhere else.
Weapon - An artifact subtype that allows the player to attack other players, or fight creatures as if they were a creature. Each weapon has a power and durability and is displayed similarly to a creature's power and toughness. Weapons enter the battlefield with a number of durability counters on it, equal to its durability, and when there are none left, sacrifice it. All Weapons have "{Tap} - Deal damage to target creature or opponent equal to this weapon's power, then remove a durability counter. If a creature is damaged this way, it deals damage to you equal to its power." Not all weapons will have this ability in the text box, as all weapons will have this ability.

    Here's an example:

Yes, I was inspired a little bit by hearthstone for how they would work, but I actually got the idea from the card Form of the Dinosaur. If you don't know what it does you can see it right here:

Chaos - ... count the number of permanents. If the number is odd, (effect...). If the number is even, (effect...).

    A callback to Chaos Moon:

Reckless - ... [if/as long as] you control a creature with power greater than its toughness, ...

I don't know if someone has done something similar, but:
Predator - (You may choose which creatures block creatures with predator. If you do pick a creature(s) to block a creature with predator, all other creatures defending player controls can't block that creature. If you don't choose a creature, the defending player may block that creature normally)

    Also:
Empyrean - (Creatures outside of the game with Empyrean can be counted as such. They can be put into play with Gateway of Legends [Attached below]. You may have any number of Empyreans, but you can have only one of each in your sideboard acting as an Empyrean.)

Similar to Companions, but don't really need a deckbuilding requirement, you just need cards that are the same color as your empyreans. However, they are a bit harder to get into play, since they require a specific card to be put into play instead of being cast by using mana. Some cards may look at your empyreans outside of the game and gain boosts depending on certain aspects of your empyreans. I don't think that this is busted like companions, since it is a little inconsistent, but I could be absolutely wrong.

The list of empyreans and all empyrean-related cards are here:

@feralitator, I believe predator has been made before in this discussion.

Dodge [Cost] ([Cost]: Counter target spell or ability that targets this creature.)

Grasp (Whenever this creature becomes blocked by a creature, you may remove that creature and this creature from combat.)

    Grasp EX)
    ________________________________________
    Bind Crawler                                 2BG
    ________________________________________
    Creature - Insect
    ________________________________________

    Grasp (Whenever this creature becomes
blocked by a creature, you may remove
that creature and this creature from
    combat.)

Whenever Bind Crawler grasps a creature,
put a -1/-1 counter on that creature.

    __________________________________4/4___
  • Forgotten [cost]([Cost], Turn this face-up exiled card face-down to (effect).)

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/disappearing-traveler

The idea is that you can use the ability once, but you can never get the card back as if you have forgotten about its existence.
  • Termination (Whenever a creature dies, put a termination counter on this creature.)

    EX)
    ___________________________________
    Termination Elemental         4WB
    ___________________________________
    Creature - Elemental
    ___________________________________
    Termination (Whenever a creature
dies, put a termination counter on
    this creature.)

When there are three or more
    termination counters on Termination
    Elemental, sacrifice it, then destroy
    all artifacts, creatures, and
    enchantments.

    *removed
  • @feralitator I believe it should be worded:

Forgotten - As long as this card is card is face-up in exile, it has [Cost], Turn this card face-down: [Effect].
  • Its highly likely someone has done this before, but:
Aegis - (Whenever a creature with an aegis would take damage, prevent that damage, and remove an aegis. These are stackable but only last until end of turn.)

    Example:
    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/gorthowl-unrelenting-1
  • RandomFandom I see. I will keep that in mind for future use.
  • Shadowjutsu [Cost] - ([Cost], Send an unblocked attacker you control to the graveyard: Put this card from your graveyard onto the battlefield tapped and attacking.)
  • @RandomFandom really late but lands are colorless. and abandon already exists. It's called Animosity if I remember correctly
  • @RandomFandom, @Usaername is right. @Tomigon already made that.

Endorse N - {t}, Tap N untapped creature(s) you control that share(s) a creature type with this creature: (effect...)
  • Oops. Well, I will still use it on my cards, I just won’t keyword it.
  • Mill Miracle [Cost](You may cast this card for its Mill Miracle cost when you mill it if it's the first card you mill this turn.)
