Legends are (Re)Made
Hello there fellow smiths.
A while ago, I had an idea to remake some of the original legendary creatures from the Legends set. I made a couple, and they were mostly received well, but I only made a couple before I forgot about it. But now, it shall be (re)made.
ha, see what I did there?
In this contest, I would like you to remake the OG Legends [they can be found here [Legends - MTG Wiki (fandom.com)]
The limit for entries will start at 10 cards, though I may increase that number at some point.
I will be judging based on the balance of the card (ie. how realistic it is) as well as how true it stays to the original flavor of the card. There will be a 1st through 3rd place, as well as a couple honorable mentions. [Which I will list below]
My hope is to get at least one of every legend, and I'll compare them to some that i have made myself. If it's possible, when this contest is finished, I'd like to somehow get these somewhere were they can be used for custom play, and even allow people to print them out for their own recreational use, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. For now, let's just make some interesting cards. If you have any clarifying questions, let me know.
1st: A Follow and 3 Favorites
2nd: 3 Favorites
3rd: 2 Favorites
Honorable Mentions: 1 Favorite a piece
In addition, I will try to favorite designs that I think are interesting and different.
This contest will run until the 28th of March, then it will close for judging. Results will hopefully be posted within a week.
Have fun, and happy smithing.

My aproach was more cards into something playable and understandable (and good looking) in the modern day of Magic, while retaining as much of the original card as possible.
I know the goal of this challange is more about reimagining the characters in a different way (not keeping the mechanics the same as on the original card), but I just wanted to share. I've got more of these Legend cards, but they are pretty much identical to the originals (but more playable).
I did something similar to @ThePhantomJoker, where I tried to make a card that looked good and modern while still trying to keep much of the original card's flavor. More cards to follow, hopefully.

Original Ramirez didn't have too much in the way of mechanics, but has plenty of flavour to work with, with apparently immortality and a fearsome privateering reputation. I was inspired heavily by @ShadowReign's card Captain Saltwater Jones, hence I have named Ramirez's ship after them.
From MTG Wiki:
"In prerevisionist history Boris Devilboon was a creature that could be seen as the boogeyman for demons. He liked mischief, such as stealing his victims' horns and such."
Kept the slightly odd caring about killing enchanted creatures mechanic from the original card (I say odd in that I can't find what inspired that design), and then a dash of flavour from Ramses' story.
From MTG Wiki:
For Tuknir, I decided to shuffle around his abilities a little bit to give him an evasion mechanic that seemed more in line with red/green. I also decided to run with the idea of him discovering other versions of himself, so I gave him a token creation mechanic.
From https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Ragnar:
"He used methods of raw green mana healing, and was a devout worshipper of Gaea, the world-goddess. He healed Kasimir the Lone Wolf from grievous injuries several times. He was part of Gosta Dirk's tribe, and for that he was captured and killed by the Halfdane posing as the Kentsu commander Barktooth Warbeard."
I made sure his "healing" was tied to green mana, and it only targets untapped creatures as a balancing choice (functionally only once per creature per turn, unless there's untapping afoot). I tried to rework the original flavor text into something mechanical. "...need have no fear". Get it?
Original vs. Improved
The first iteration was supposed to be ominous, based on that funky art. The newly forged version has a much more ominous artwork (By JiHunLee) and an even more ominous flavor text. The new Princess Lucrezia also looks like she's capable of dealing 5 damage with that amazing sword!
