Silverquill's Sepia Scuffle
In honor of Silverquill - art challenge!
MTG is well known for it's colors, but some impressive artwork is indeed with only one color of ink. Black and white drawings an sepia works are just not seen. We can change that.
So the challenge is to find beautiful art of this sort and make a wonderful card out of it. As an open art challenge, any type of card appropriate to the image is valid.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The limit for entries will start be 5cards/
I will be judging based on the basis of how well the art is translated into a fun, balanced card. There will be a 1st through 3rd place, as well as at least one honorable mentions.
1st: A Follow and 3 Favorites
2nd: 3 Favorites
3rd: 2 Favorites
Honorable Mentions: 1 Favorite a piece
There has been some discussion of interesting new prizes here:

So in addition top 3 get 1 boggle.
This contest will run until the 18th of May, then it will close for judging.
Have fun with the hammer & tongs fellow smiths.

Here is a super-vanilla example with a little in joke:
See what a pretty birdie. But I doubt the art would ever be printed on a regular card.

White/Black mana coloring obviously works best with this kind of artwork (as kinda seen with Rise of Extus), so I went with the easy route for my first entry, but it is what it is.
Results are in:
HM: @ TerryTags – you get a boggle just for the rhyme alone.
3rd Place: @Corwin - Bird of Paranoia. My what big eyes he has! I was sort of tripped up by the tap thing. I was thinking a Norin The Wary exile after blocking would have been a better flavor match.
2nd Place: @pstmdrn – Thistlethorn Haprist. In interesting take on a slow-acting magical poisons. Just like a faeries to hide it in a song.) Reminds me of the Decepticon Tarn’s outlier ability – look it up if you’re curious)
1st Place: @samconsumespie: A great demonstration on how sometimes something not mechanically innovative and common can still win by being just creepy as heck with art that matches flavor and what it is (or is not) exactly. I imagine Viking around and suddenly being surrounded by these guys. Hard to see, who knows what they are. Ever se the movie The Ritual? Sort of like that,.
this challenge was really cool and i loved everyone's entries
i think that the bird would be a little too powerful if it could block and was exiled because then it could prevent 2 creatures damage without harming itself
and i love the boggle idea and i plan on using it in due time
