Circuit contest 2: Recursion? What? Could you repeat that? Recursion? What? Could you repeat that?
This weeks contest: Make a card that recurs stuff.
Contest parameters:
Cmc 4 or less
Must have an additional cost that can be paid to modify the effect of the card somehow.
ONLY NEW CARDS!
Only up-to-par art. It has to look Mtg-like, modern standards.
Maximum two entries per smith.
The contest ends the 27th of January, 10 am (CET). Winners will be announced the 27th of January 6 pm (CET).
Prizes:
1st place: I will work alongside you to help you create up to 2 cards of your choosing by providing feedback and being a person to bounce ideas off of, until you feel like you are satisfied with the card we are working on. Additionally, I'll find up to five of your cards that I like and favorite them.
2nd place: Same as the winner, except only 2 cards. Up to 3 favorites.
3rd place: Same as the winner, except only 1 card. Up to 3 favorites.
4th place: 1 card - No guaranteed favorites, but I will look through your collection and see if there's something I like.
Each prize goes to a CARD - This means you can potentially take both the 1st and 2nd spot, for example.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People who win the contests that I host will gain 1 circuit point, except the winner of the respective contest, who gains 2.
I'm going to keep track of the circuit points, and it will be publicly accessible.
If you want a contest included in the circuit, let me know a bit beforehand; Every cardsmith is allowed 2 contests per month in the circuit, but the contests must meet a "minimum-effort" criteria:
At least 1 week duration.
Must have at least 5 individual cardsmiths participate.
Must have prizes.
Additionally, you must conclude your contest with winners and prizes dispensed.
------------
Circuit points are mostly for fun, to see who has a tendency to win most contests overall.
Top8 people in the circuit will be invited to special contests once a month and the winner of said contest will receive a card made for them in my "Circuit Trophies"-set. They won't just be trophy cards, but more like tribute cards that have mechanics you tend to use a lot or reflects your cardsmith personality.
Kind of like our own Grand prix, I suppose.
For the circuit, I will be making one challenge a week, going wednesday to wednesday. This means that, right now, there will be a possibility for a maximum of 12 circuit points, if you win 1st and 2nd place in every challenge hosted by me (Assuming no one else joins in).
One "Circuit Cycle" is four weekly contests. Every Circuit Cycle ends with a monthly "Circuit Contest".
Current circuit standings:
@Cadstar369: 2 points
@Animist: 1 point
@kkarn: 1 point
@Mana_M0nger: 1 point
Cheers, and godspeed.

Lastly, is http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=bloodsoaked champion a valid example? He has an "additional cost that can be paid to modify the effect of the card somehow" right?
Recursion refers to stuff that somehow brings stuff back from the graveyard, specifically.
and no, Bloodsoaked champion wouldn't qualify. It doesn't modify the card. Bloodsoaked Champion is a great example of recursion, though. Like Eternal Witness is the archetypal recursion. When I say "modify", think Kicker and its likes.
Or a creature that says "you may have this enter with a -1/-1 counter, if you do, do *EFFECT*"
another recent example of "an additional cost that modifies the card" would be http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=394551 from DtK

Please tell me if that works, as I'm not incredibly familiar with Recursion.
Sure, that is recursion. That card is also extremely broken, but that's that :P

I can't really accept your entry since it doesn't fulfill the requirements

That is not a recursive card, though. As I've said a few times now, recursion has to do with returning stuff, in any way, from the graveyard

I commented on the card.

(please ignore previous entries)

Question. Your first place reward is aide for 2 cards, and your second place reward is aide for 2 cards. Was that intentional? You state 'except only 2 cards.', I was just wondering why you said that if the number of cards is equal.
Also, mostly only entering for a chance at some of those ultra rare Grimshac favourites, ha ha.
Ah yea, It used to be 3 cards to the winner, but I decided 3 was a bit much. No one has claimed any prizes from the former contest anyway, but it has only been a few days, so, *shrug*
Ultra rare seems correct, I have only given out like... 12 legit favourites o.O
Never will I willfully ignore a card! @CardLivesMatter
Ok.
