Shambling, Blather went through the streets, while other people were avoiding him, mumbling to himself. "Blather is a good boy! Good boy! Blather always does what others want. Blather help others. Blather good, very good. People need Blather, cause Blather never fails, nonono, never. Blather very good at taking orders and sooo friendly, yes, yes, Blather superfriendly. Can Blather help you, yes, yes of course, Blather always does. And Blather not ask details. Details only trouble. Blather delivers, yes yes yes. Blather accurate and helpful. Blather goooood boy."
"There it is!" a voice suddenly shoutet and out of nowhere towerguards appeared with swords and halberds in hand. "Vile creature! Youre hearby arrested for poisening and murdering the tower inhabitant, merchant and wizard called "Pearl" Surrender or die!"
New Quest for Lhunter:
Create either:
A card about Blather trying to talk his way out of this Situation.
I would love to join if it's not too late now, although I should say that I'm away basically all of next week, so if this isn't going to go on for too much longer, then it could be best I don't join in this one
Sure, jump in and create a character. If youre not here and i know it your character will get a solo quest that doesnt involve the other characters, so the others can go on.
With your character we are full then. 5 characters is enough.
This is actually hella fun. I’ve checked this for updates an unhealthy amount of times today. I can’t wait to see what the mind of @LvB comes up with next!
Kaelen was a young, mid-tier worker from the Towers with a promising career, however it all went down hill when he found out that his fiancé was a blackmarket organ dealer who often used the income of his work to fund her devious endeavours. Heartbroken, he confronted her about it, but she fled. He tracked her relentlessly, wanting desperately to know why above all else, but soon became lost in the vast labyrinth of THE CATACOMBS to never see daylight for many years since.
At first he was fearful of the dark turns and twists and cowered at every moving shadow, but the longer he lingered down there, the more he adapted, his eyes adjusting to the infernal darkness and his body growing more nimble. It wasn't long before he found out that he harboured a telekinetic connection to all things broken, this becoming his greatest weapon. With but a single shard of glass he could do so much beyond simply survive.
For years he longed to see again the towers and his old friends, but the longer he lived in the shadow, the more he grew comfortable in his new home, and in the knowledge that there was nothing for him in the upper city. Not anymore. So he turned THE CATACOMBS into his domain.
THE CATACOMBS are filled with vast cavernous spaces, and tight corridors, crumbling and falling apart by the hour out of the sheer pressure and weight of the city above. An ever-present danger, its inhabitants must be on their toes at all times, ready to run at a moments notice to escape a sudden hallway collapse or random boulderfall. To those are accustomed to its enigmatic ways, however, it serves as a shroud to conceal their every activity and plot, allowing one to disappear completely from any mention of sight.
Yo man you still got a quest to do. Not trying to be rude but I check this discussion many times a day hoping for an update and we just need your quest to be finished before we all move forward.
You are being helpful to me. Your character is developing my character. And plus, LvB referred to it as “buried alive”. Pearl isn’t dead, she’s just… um… she’s paralyzed or something… I don’t know…
Ooo, interesting idea. We'd need to have a way to get Blather into the Catacombs, or something that forces Kaelen out, cuz Kaelen's become very comfortable in his new home. But he'd be quite keen to see his fiancé again, he's got a lot to say to her. His long years in the darkness have allowed him to brood over everything that happened and any confusion or sadness he had is now just pure bitterness and hate towards her. How could she have done all that to him? He has more than just words for her. There are one or two very special shards he's kept, just for her.
Although I should say, I'm leaving for a week tomorrow morning to lead on a camp, and it's gonna be pretty full on the whole time, so I won't have access to cardsmith. To that extent, it'll be better our characters remain safely separate for now, just so we don't have a situation where you're waiting a whole week for me to make my card in order to progress.
And a sidenote to everyone waiting for the story to progress, one of the other 'requirements' for joining the rpg was to make a card for one of the parts of the Plane of Terror, (like how I made The Catacombs) so that's something you could do. By no means saying you have to, but it gives you something to do while you wait.
Over the decades, Blather has found many, many ways from getting from one place to another. He can easily enter the catacombs, it’s just a matter of finding Kaelen coincidentally. Blather doesn’t work for money, he works to feel good about himself, and for praise. If those one or two “special shards” of Kaelen’s are used, then he might have a field day with grafting new bits to himself.
P.S. Me and CrimsonFox over here just plotting murder in the RPG…
Since Tonyspark doesnt seem to be interested in this anymore we will continue without him.
@Tonyspark: Should you decide to come back, feel free to join anytime you want.
"The ground was getting closer at a way too high speed as Ulyiana was falling down. Luckily she didnt hit one of the many bridges that connected the towers. But that just meant her impact speed would be really high once she reached ground. But then she saw something. A white dot? Something shiny? No it was a creature on a street of the slums that looked up, directly at her. The creature opened its arms, as if it was trying to catch her. Of course, at such speed that would be impossible.
One moment later Ulyiana crashed into the white creature. Then something really strange happened ..."
New Quest for balloonnation:
Create a card that unleashes the magic of two creatures because they are crashing into each other.
@LHunter Oh that revenge would be sweet! Should they find each other, Blather had better have grafted on some good eyes, as Kaelen has kept a photo of his 'fiancé', simply so that he doesn't forget what she looks like and let her slip past him when he finally does spot her. If it would help Blather track her down, the picture's all his... he'd better live up to his 'never fails' phrase.
After the corpsebearer and his minions had carried her away, Pearl was left alone for some time in the makeshift coffin of the corpsebearer. Then, some hours later, the corpsebearer and his minions came back, lifted her out of the coffin, and put her in a strange looking box made out of stone, ornated with magical symbols.
One of the minions put a letter into the box, and then they closed it. Inside the box Pearl could feel that they carried the box somewhere, then there were some strange sounds and then everything was silent.
Pearl didnt know how long she had been in the box, but after maybe a day or maybe more, she could feel the paralysation wearing off.
Because of her Draconic nature her eyes quickly adapted to the dark. It was some kind of sarcophagus they had put her into, but not a normal one, no it was magical. She felt that it was draining her powers away, so she couldnt escape, but at the same time it was somehow "caring" about her. But wait, there was still the letter, or whatever it was!
It wasnt easy to read the letter in the darkness, and it took her a while, but then she had figured out what the letter said:
"My dear rival. We never were friends, but i always respected you because of your magic and your knowledge. But as it is the way of things, if you are too careless, even if you are more powerful than your rivals, a simple thing, something like poisened food, can be your downfall. And you were way too careless with everything and way too trusty with the people you thought would be working for you. But, while you are reading this, know that your time is running out. Maybe you already figured it out, but you are not in an ordinary sarcophagus, but in a little artifact i call "Sarcophagus of eternal death". A really nasty device, possesed by a demon who will kill you in a lot of diffrent ways again and again and again, but he will also revive you in between and feast on your suffering for all eternity. Oh, and i made sure you cant get out, so dont even try. Or do, i dont really care. Hehehe. Good Riddance."
Rage and Fury filled Pearls heart and she screamed as loud as she could and hammered against the stone, but it was as the letter said, that wouldnt get her out. Then spikes startet to grow on each wall of the sarcophagus, beginning to impale her slowly ...
New Quest for Mellow_MC:
Create either:
A card representing the "Sarcophagus of eternal death".
A card about Pearl speculating, who could be this "rival" mentioned in the letter.
A card that kills a creature in a slow and horribly way.
Blather tried to explain that this surely must be some thing of misunderstanding. He was well known for only trying to help people! Blather was a good boy, not a murderer! But as he spoke about how much he cared about people, he could see the disgust in the faces of the guards. Then, suddenly, something from behind hit him on the head and everything went black.
As Blather awoke, he was locked inside a prison cell. Blather ran up and down in the cell, his mind asking all kinds of questions to himself. Was Blather a bad boy? Nonono, Blather was helpful! And Blather didnt kill anyone! Nono, Blather only wants to help! But ... maybe Blather help kill someone? Yes? No? Blather suddenly wasnt sure. Then he remembered, there was something strange. A few days ago. Blather, helpful as ever, was moving through the slums, while people avoided him, as ever, when a cloaked figure had approached him. But Blather only wanted to help! The Figure, clad in expensive clothing and probably a male, but wearing a hood, had asked if he could deliver some food to one of the merchants in the towers. Payment was good and even in advance! And Blather had been very willing to help. Blather had done exactly as he was told too and delivered the food just in time! But Blather didnt kill or poison anyone! Blather ... got tricked! Maybe. Or maybe this was still a misunderstanding. Blather would prove how good he is! Then capturers would see how good Blather is and let him go! Blathers plans always were the best! Now Blather only had to wait and then they would let to have him go!
New Quest for Lhunter:

A card that somehow tricks a creature into doing something that ends up bad
A card that can somehow "free" a creature from circumstances that are bad for the creature.
As Kaelen was doing his business in the catacombs, he suddenly heard something. And then he could even see something. A group of people with torches! His eyes began to hurt as the dim light of the fire reached it and tears blurred his vision, for he hadnt seen light for a long time. And even that this was only torchlight, it caused his eyes great pain. Kaelen hid behind a crumbling pillar and used some of his shards to look around the corner, reducing the light that could reach his eyes to a minimum.
There was a group of people carrying something. And he even knew one of them. It was the corpsebearer who from time to time disposed corpses here in the catacombs instead of burying them proberly and giving them a real funeral.
Kaelen didnt really care what they were doing here, but this was still a chance. Should he try to talk to the group to maybe get some news about the city and the towers, or should he wait and watch them out of stealth. Kaelen was unsure...
New Quest for CrimsonFox
Create either a card:
That is about gathering information in a friendly way
That is about gathering information via espionage and in a stealthy way.
I’m proud of my ingenuity on this one. It depicts either an arrest or a prison break depending on how much you pay. You can also make multiple creatures get arrested or break out depending on the color of mana you spend. This is probably one of my favorites I’ve made.
It is always in moments like this that Kaelen's curiosity for the world above piques, and no small amount longing for the years before enter his mind. He has seen the Corpsebearer down here many a time before, it's time he learned who Kaelen was.
In a friendly way, of course.
Kaelen's idea of friendly may have changed to subtle threats, but this is a world above his idea of unfriendly, morally speaking, that is. Under the ground, he has no concept of time, and wants to know how the world has changed and what's left of what he knew.
And with that, I will say farewell 'til late Sunday (UTC+13:00). Looking forward to seeing where this goes while I'm away! Thanks for all your work, @LvB!

@balloonnation:
I’d love some more story for Uliyana…
@CrimsonFox:
What are your thoughts on Kaelen employing Blather to find Kaelen’s fiancé? I think it’d be interesting, but maybe you don’t want her in the story.
