@Hinges The idea is that every once in a while, a once neglected commander becomes suddenly the hottest thing in town, thanks to a newly printed card that makes it suddenly really good. Your task is to design a card that makes the commander of the month get some much needed attention. I select a commander that I feel has an interesting, but under developed design space, and we, as a community, design some cards that would make the commander of the month truly shine. So this month, maybe something that gives you tokens to tap, pays of Discovering, helps you with attack triggers, maybe even a little of each?
Also, I always enjoy a flavorful Book of Mormon reference on here. Though the formatting of Covenant Peacemakers could use some tweaking, it's a cool card. I'd have it read something like:
"When Covenant Peacemakers enters, exile up to one target creature. If you exile a creature this way, Bolster 1."
Tough challenge. I’m in Alma 1:14. I tried to make a card for that and your challenge. I just haven’t played competitively so it’s difficult to know what’s good.
@melovecatz Are you SURE he's not Heliod? But seriously, cool card design. Maybe a little OP, but you could make it a random card you own in exile instead? Something like that, so it's not basically just a tutor for your best card in the top half of your deck every time you exile something.
Decided to check in again, and just in time! The month just changed, but I still wanted to design this for Caparocti. Exploiting Equipment for tapping shenanigans has been fun in games, especially when others' reaction usually goes like "Why didn't I realize that sooner?"
This card can also be discovered by Caparocti, and as a fail safe, if you lose either of them, one axe alone gives the equipped creature vigilance, allowing you to tap the creature AND the equipment when it attacks. That is, if you don't have other artifacts or creatures in play, for some reason.
Finding borders with this new editor is a pain, especially since it
seems there are no monocolor artifact frames available currently, but
otherwise the design process went smoothly this time.
hello everyone! here's my card! the idea here was if the commander is already out, you can use its ability the turn it's played, and if the commander is not out yet, this card allows you to get a lot of powerful cards into your hand.. what do you guys think?
@melovecatz I like that, tutoring 5 creatures to your graveyard EACH attack may be a little busted, especially in colors that can just cheat it out pretty easily. Still, this card definitely feels like an auto include in the deck we're designing, so you definitely met the assignment.
Cool card. That would be quite the boost with Eldrazi Spawn tokens. It also gives you the mana advantage when rebuilding from a Damnation or another board wipe. Imagine clearing out all creatures and then dropping a hand of legendary Eldrazi for free.
@TenebrisNemo I think this would be a lot more fair as a creature itself, so you can't board wipe into it, but, it certainly is a perfect fit into our Garna deck, so I can't complain.
@Hinges You need to add a clause about revealing cards from your hand or something, or your card technically doesn't work, but I get what you're going for. Glad you could fit your Book of Mormon challenge into my commander of the month challenge.
Okay, we're halfway through January, and I'm not sure if anyone even cares or is enjoying this thread, but, since we're still getting submissions, here's the commander for January (at least what's left of it). And, if we don't get many ideas right away, this is also the commander for February.
@StuffnSuch this is a really hard one honestly. I have like no ideas rn, which probably has something to do with me not playing mtg as much anymore. But hey ill try to get one out by maybe tomorrow?
@StuffnSuch - Excellent point! Making it a creature card would work much better for balancing reasons, and I also get to think of a greasy name for such creepy character, heh.
Anyway, here's a card for Kimahri's deck, purposefully based on a forgettable side character from FFX where Kimahri is also from:
Had to make this one in the legacy editor, since the new editor seems to be missing a few pieces to make a legendary borderless multicolored card that's even remotely appealing.

OR
"When Covenant Peacemakers enters, exile target creature.
Whenever a spell or ability you control exiles a card (or permanent?), Bolster 1."
The first seems like more of what you're going for, but the later is more what I actually think the card implies as is.
wow i bet this card is just so strong.
Glad you got that in! What a cool design. I like that you have to limit yourself to get the Vigilance. Very cool!
