Circuit contest (5): #1 Monthly. This month's theme: Commander.
Alright folks, welcome back to the circuit!
With me today and until the end of the month I have @Suicidal_Deity and the ever-commenting @Cryptonight ready and willing to work on making this contest as great as it can be, hopefully bringing you great advice you can take with you on your Cardsmithing journey!
This month we'll be doing Commander cards, but with a twist.
For the contest, we will ask you for at least four cards (Max 6):
1 General.
3-5 Support cards of varying types, that support both lorewise and mechanically speaking, with lore in the front row and mechanics back-seated, but a combination of both is required to score top points. Nonpermanent entries are encouraged, so that all support-cards aren't just creatures and equipments.
This does NOT mean that we encourage making 6 cards in total; It means that we expect people who make more than four cards to have a good reason to do so, but we hope that the majority of participants will be able to work with the minimum number required.
So basically, your job is to build an EDH general, then make some cards that tells that commander's story and mechanics through some cards that use these mechanics and/or tells his/her story in the flavourtext (and the rules text, for that matter, if you have the know-how to weave it that way!)
People will have 21 days to make their cards and we will spend a maximum of 7 days judging, hopefully less as I assume we will look at the cards along the way.
This means you have until 26th to make four cards. We will announce results latest the 2nd of April
Usual rules:
- MAKE ONLY NEW CARDS! Every card submitted must be made for the purpose of this contest, to show off your innovative cardsmithing skills!
- Make "serious" cards - That means serious art, serious name, "serious" flavour text. No breaking the fourth wall.
- _You may revise a card an endless amount of times and resubmit it if you want to. We encourage remaking! No card is ever made to 100% of its capacity on its first try.
- POST ENTRIES IN A SET, PLEASE. This means you can update the set instead of posting a new link every time you remake. I will flip my shit if people don't follow this rule (Not really, but it helps keeping the thread clean, making everything a lot easier for me to catalog!).
- Make a comment beneath each card so we can reply to you in due time.
Prizes:
1st place: 4 circuits points are at stake for the winner.
Additionally, a personal favourite from me. Some may find this a bit arrogant and others just a tad weird, but if you find my profile and look up the amount of of cards I have favourited, it is very, very few. I put a lot of stock in my favourites and the general that wins the contest is 100% certain to be a card I would have favourited anyway
2nd place: 3 circuit points.
3rd place: 2 circuit points.
4th place: 1 circuit point.
5th place 1 circuit point.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want a contest included in the circuit, let me know a bit beforehand; Every card-smith is allowed one contest per month in the circuit, but the contests must meet a "minimum-effort" criteria:
At least 1 week duration.
Must have at least 5 individual card-smiths participate.
Must have prizes. What they are is up to you, but "bragging rights" does not count, among other things.
Additionally, you must conclude your contest with winners; prizes dispensed.
I also ask to be allowed to co-judge - Not necessarily have any "actual" say, but I want to be able to look over the cards you intend to let win, just so I can check for broken interactions and such. I will do minimal to influence you otherwise, in order to keep the circuit as unbiased as possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still looking for one additional PERMANENT co-judge! The current crew is me and @Suicidal_Deity
I need you to be dependable on the day of judging. We judge and release the winners on the same day as the contest ends, for weekly contests. The monthly contests have a week for judging and considerations.
If you are interested in helping me judge (Permanently, or just this time), send a message to me on these forums.
Co-judges may participate but cannot vote for themselves (duh!). I will never partake in any circuit-related contests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Top8 people in the circuit will be invited to special contests once a month and the winner of said contest will receive a personalized tribute card made for them in my "Circuit Trophies".
Winning a weekly contest also givens an "emblem" token in my weekly-trophies set.
There will always be at least one contest a week in the circuit, starting mostly Wednesdays (may wary) and lasting 7-9 days, depending on how things are going.
One "Circuit Cycle" is four weekly contests. Every Circuit Cycle ends with a monthly "Circuit Contest". So far, there is no planned date for a "reset" of the ladder, but it will happen eventually.

Could be anything, as long as it's something: "For EDH contest." - is fine. You can even type gibberish - it doesn't need to be words, so long as you submit a comment under your own card. Will make it easier for the judges to contact you and offer feedback, plus facilitate overall communication. Thanks.

For those of you who havn't, please add a comment beneath each card so you know when we have responded to you. For those who already have: Good job!

I am afraid that is not an option
We are trying to sideline ourselves from helping out with anything but formatting and functionality errors, so it will have to be up your discretion which cards you pick to be in your final pool.
Also, don't forget to put a message in the comment section of every card so we can get back to you with feedback
Waiting due time for inspiration to kick in is a much better option than jumping the gun, so I would say you are making the correct choice by waiting

Edit: new link, hopefully this one works, thanks @Grimshac for the heads up!
Any and all feedback is appreciated!
your link doesn't work, getting a 404

Unlike circuit points, my favourites don't reset. So much for writing a text explaining why there is only one favourite. Unlike the majority of the hivemind, I don't give out a metric shitton of favourites in my contests from my personal account.

"Relentless Assault" already officially exists as a card name : http://magiccards.info/10e/en/225.html
Not sure how the other judges ( @Grimshac , @Suicidal_Deity ) feel about using card names that already exist.
