  • Azorius. Out of all the guilds you could've missed, one has to be Azorius. Also, what happened to Gruul? Borborygmos is now truly enraged that you frogot Gruul.
  • @ZendikarIncarnate, I wanted to follow a color cycle, so there would be an even distribution of colors. And in addition, here are some of my feelings about the left out guilds:

    - Azorius is insanely evil. Using authority to do and stop whatever they want without consulting facts is one of our banes in society. Also, it is never fun to play Azorius.

    - I actually sympathize for the abused guild Gruul, but I never liked paying RG. It only focuses on smashing your enemies to pieces. The guilds that I chose have an equal potential to become aggesive, midrangey, and controlly. (BTW, my first mythic rare was a foil Borborygmos Enraged! It got passed to me during a draft because he chose Gideon.)

    - Rakdos turns torment into pleasure for others. I hate that. Plus, the color combination kinda sucks.

    - Selesnya is not a guild: its a religion that all apparently must follow. It is essentialy a brainwashing cult that uses the excuse of peace to seize what others have. And besides, Selesnya has received enough love already.

    - Dimir are essentially hired thugs. And everyone I know (besides me) hates playing against it.
  • agreed on all except selesnya. they have large wurm creatures! that is awesome! how could they be bad if they have large wurm creatures?

I don't understand Invest...you pay the life up front, and then when the Invested card dies, you get the life back? So what's the point? Did you mean to say you get TWICE the life returned to you? Otherwise there's no point in Investing, unless I'm missing something.
  • @Angry_Potatoes It could be used to attain a powerful creature for a lower cmc, at the cost of investing. The idea is that there is a benefit, but things can go wrong. In @Faiths_Guide 's example, it's a strong flyer with protection from 40% of colors. However, it costs five life, and if your opponent can force a tap on it or otherwise render it useless, then it's become a bad investment. Make any sense?

Oh ok, so it's not really an optional ability, it's an additional cost in exchange for a great card?
  • I like Azorius. Even though they are evil, they have some pretty great cards. I love Gruul, because my second deck was a red/green with a similar playstyle as Gruul, so when I got my own cards, I went on to make my Gruul aggro. (My first 2 decks were borrowed until I could get my own cards.) My first deck was a dimir "Nothing here is an uncommon, rare or mythic rare and they all cost 1 mana to cast but they are all horrible deck." I hated it.
  • Yup yup. At least so @Gelectrode claimed.
  • Hello everyone! I have changed most of the abilities for the set!

    NEW ABILITIES FOR RAVNICA UNITED:

Simic: Metamorphosis N ({1}{u}{g}, Exile this creature: You may put a card with converted mana cost equal to the exiled creature’s mana cost plus N onto the battlefield.)

Golgari: Mulch- When this permanent enters your graveyard from the battlefield, you may pay {b/g}. If you do, exile it and {effect}.

    Boros: Enforce- Whenever this creature becomes blocked, {effect}

Orzhov- Invest (Whenever you pay life, you get an investment counter.) Orzhov cards will have benefits from the number of investment counters you have.

Izzet: Flux {mana} (You may cast this spell for its Flux cost. If you do, its target is chosen at random.) The Flux cost will be much cheaper than the normal cost.

    Any suggestions?

Woah woah woah, you changed them?

Can you also change their names or is that impossible. I don't want a "made-up" keyword on one of my old cards whose designer no longer acknowledges its function! Why would you do this :D

It's not even that I don't like the revisions, it's just that I don't want the old discarded...
