Any particular set symbols to be used? I'm assuming you want some sort of aesthetic consistency among your cards.

Also, is there a set number of entries? I want to design buttloads of cards for this set. Not for prizes or whatever, but I'm genuinely interested in simply putting in entries.
  • @Shadikal you can use any set symbols you want and you can design as many cards as you want, but only one submitted card for each group will go in the set. Thanks for your interest!

  • An oldie B/R/W for now. I'll try to think of some new ones.

  • I fear I may have overstepped the boundaries. Please inform me if I have done so.

  • @Corwinnn - Thanks!

I really love the idea for this challenge and it helps me get a better understanding of uncommon power level. I feel like my designs need a bit of work, so why not test myself here?
  • Thank you all
Just a note, in the event of a tie, I may choose two cards for some color combos!
Now for some suggestions for each person who has contributed.
@Shadikal - The Bant colored one's name sounds like a legendary creature, so changing the name would be good, Fear and Swampwalk are obsolete abilities. I suggest replacing fear with menace and replacing swampwalk with an activated unblockable ability.
    @Animist - Very good card.
@ Lujikul - It is good but I would just give it Persist and take off the It lasts indefinitely. Thanks Everyone!
P.S. Some cards that win might have modifications to art, text, name or lore to go with how WotC words certain things or to fit the set lore that I'm working on , though the ideas people are coming up with may cause me to modify the story to fit them in.
  • @Simicguy - Fixed some things, changed others. Hopefully this meets the certain requirements, but if it doesn't, just let me know.
  • Hi,
Just some updates on the creature types for the set
G/W - Main type: Humans, Secondary types: Dryads and Centaurs
B/G - Main type: Gorgons, Secondary types: Elves and Assassins
G/U - Main type: Merfolk, Secondary type: Mutants
R/G/W - Main type: Cats, Secondary type: Beasts
So some of you might be wondering about these changes, For G/W and B/G I added the additional types because I thought they fit the color just as well as the originals so they will have in even split in there lords while the other colors won't have the secondary split like they will. I made Merfolk G/U's main because I thought the would like rule a empire better then a Mutant (Prime Speaker Zegana) so I took off Krakens and made Mutants the secondary G/U type because unlike Krakens, Mutants (can) be sentient. I made Cats the R/G/W main type because unlike Shamans which only fit R/G, Cats can fit white as well so I thought they would be a better fit for the set so Beasts moved down to secondary.
Thanks, and I hope this won't conflict with anyone's cards!
  • @Shadikal Can you please post the edited cards, change the B/R/G dragon's fear to menace, and remove Human from the dryad.
    Thanks, Simicguy
  • @Shadikal I am sorry for the inconvenience with the R/G/W card, I hope you understand my reason for taking off shaman and I hope you can come up with a new card.
    Thanks, Simicguy
  • As you didn't list Demon in any category I assume you might be cool with a Demon in B/R? If not disregard this or assume he's a devil:
    Demon of Anguish

    Forget that actually...
  • JUDGING!
Hi everyone, as the contest ended yesterday, lets go to the judging!
(As I developed the set I realized I didn't need the 3 color cards, I apologize for this and I hope you understand. Also some cards entered have been deleted, so I will only post the winners for the ones that have stayed on, also some that were taken off of the contest that are still existing, I will say that it won, if that is not okay with the maker of the cards please post so in the comments below.)
    B/R - Demon of Anguish by @Faiths_Guide
    R/G - Whisperflute Folk by @Shadikal
    W/B - Abbey Priestess by @Shadikal
R/W - Bearer of the Sun Banner by @Animist
Very soon I will make a page on the custom card set.
Thank you for all your hard work.
  • @Simicguy Sorry about that, I was just really sick of looking at many of my own cards and got rid of them. They were just so dull. I mean, other than the remakes, every one of those cards was designed consecutively, almost without fail one after the other which was about 2 hours worth of card making. Next time, I'll just try to think about what I enter into a competition rather than haphazardly throw a card together.

Again, I'm sorry for all the hassle I have put you through when going over my cards and thank you for letting me participate in this competition. It was fun and it was interesting for sure.
  • Here is the link to my page for the set (No cards yet except for contest winners.)
