This time around I had the distinct pleasure of judging alongside @DomriKade - Lest to say, it was great, and while he had nothing clever to say about the actual magic cards /s we did have a great laugh about all the terrible cards that were submitted! (That's a joke, guys. Don't kill me.)
It is possible for a judge's card to go top four, apparently
I personally chose this card because it was the best representation of Shame that we had, in my opinion. Shame was definitely one of the more abstract things to attempt to represent in a magic card. The challenge was also "How do we make an emotion that is going to be "all downsides" if it is on your own team?" - Some people tried to make Shame as a creature, but it always came out kinda wrong. Shame is a strictly negative emotion, so how do you make that without making an instant/sorcery that "shames" the opponent (Since we were looking for the embodiment of shame, not "to shame" someone). Domri argued well for the concept of being "exposed" and "vulnerable", which won me over on the subject.
I REALLY liked this card. We both agreed that this was a great way to make Disgust into a card. I don't have much to say because I feel like the card *really* speaks for itself. My only complaint, and the reason why it's 3rd, is because it's simply unplayable in most cases. It has the CMC of an EDH card, but it doesn't work properly in EDH. It could be used in standard as 1 or 2 of, I guess... The mechanic was intended as anti-combo tech, but the card is too slow to shut down combos, so... I would have loved to have seen the cmc lowered to 5, or even 4, and then have some kind of drawback like "Lose life equal to the CMC of the named card" or something. Anyway, this card puts an amazing base to work with for "Disgust". The art is really "in-colors", which just makes the card look good.
As Domri mentioned when we spoke about - "Simple is good."
I have been an advocate for that for the longest time, and this card is a good example of just that. The art is great and fits. The mechanic is smooth and makes sense. Not much to say, because not much need to be said. It's simply a great card - Works great in the deck it's meant for and... useless... in decks it isn't meant for, so it seems fairly balanced (Didn't playtest this time around, though).
This card. Both Domri and I had to be slightly in awe of this card because it looks beautiful. The art is stunning.
That aside, the card is just a great representation of what "Trust" would be. The card has a bunch of neat interactions and is at that power level where you're like "I'd play WU to be able to play this card", without being backbreakingly broken. It draws cards for all parties involved and is generally a fun multiplayer card with meaningful choices for all players involved. Do you want to draw cards but let him have a 3/3 flyer? Does the owner of the card want to risk playing it for free, but have it countered?
It might be slightly too good right now and need an upped price, either the Belief cost to 2/3, or perhaps lose the shuffle clause, but we had to give this first place. It feels like a complete card and seems like a card that could've been printed by WotC for a commander set.
Uh, so... I have put in an official petition to rename the card to "Hey guys, kill me". Domri and I spent a lot of time talking about this card, but had to ultimately reach the conclusion that this card really kinda... sucks :P The effect is long, convoluted and impressive, but in the end, NO ONE is going to allow you to draw cards off of that, if the only trade-off is a bit of life. This card is basically "I'm going to tap out. Hit me"
This card is special. Once again, a big effect that looks impressive.
Then Domri and I actually looked at the card.
We decided to dub the card "If you can hardcast Progenitus, draw 5 cards." - If you cast this card for WURBG.. you will have NO colors in your mana pool, therefore, you won't draw any cards But hey, if you have more life you can draw 2 cards! Because nothing says Schadenfreude like drawing 2 cards
The idea is neat, but the card is... well, it was pretty hilariously bad (power level wise) once we got into it :P
You know, I'm not averse to being nice to people, but folks often just give me so many reasons to be sarcastic.
Did you even read the contest rules? Did you glance through the entries? Beeswax made the same mistake as you and fixed it >.<
And, of course, four posts above yours is a HUGE post that *ended* the contest.
But hey, if it wasn't going to be you, it was going to be Gele(c?)trode, so why not...
Like, I know I come off as snarky and somewhat rude, but it's just such a waste. Your entries looked good (Because I did actually take a good long look at them), even if they didn't fit the criteria, but I can't even give you time to fix them because the contest is literally over =x
No time wasted, technically. I chose to look at the cards off my own volition. I hope you join in next time. The thread is up for next contest in line.

@Corwinnn
That's also a solution when all else (reading comprehension) fails x-x
