@fabiocbinbutter - A card that simply says 'pay life' isn't enough. It would have to say 'lose(s) life'.
The reason for this rule is to eliminate things like Erebos, God of the Dead and Necropotence which aren't really keeping in the spirit of life gain / life loss in the same way as Exquisite Blood (though things like Phyrexian Arena and Bitterblossom are allowed).
@Flatfish - I'm afraid that doesn't count. The enchantment by itself is not gaining or losing life for a player. Paying life doesn't count because that's just a cost. Lifelink doesn't count because it's reliant on damage by creatures.
If it helps, there are some examples in the original post of what does and doesn't qualify.
