Not-So-Useless Cards
Hey all, I have a challenge! Make a realistic card that seems completely useless, and then find a way to break it.
This can go two ways:

It's basically useless, but it could combo with death triggers and/or passive buffs like Chief of the Foundry's or Elesh Norn's abilities. Or delirium (or landfall, but that's pushing it).
Limit: 4 entries. Rare and mythic are allowed, but keep balance in mind. Cards must be would be cool if they were new; be creative!
Prize: All will receive favorites, and winner will get a custom card made of them. Sure, why not.
Contest will end: August 1st, or later if I forget.
That's it, have fun!
Okay, the results are in!
First place: Aberrant Mimicry by strongbelieves
There aren't really any Magic cards like it except for Ertai's Meddling with X as 0. The layout is clean, the art is credited, and its uses aren't obvious at first glance.
Second place: Sacrificial Flames by PixelKirby
The formatting isn't perfect and there doesn't seem to be credit for the artist, but this is almost along the lines I was looking for: It has serious drawbacks unless you have a few specific cards or mechanics on the board. Aside from the dichotomy of the Modern frame and the DTK set symbol, the image, effects, and flavor of the card fit together nicely.
Honorable mentions:
Rumbling Canyon by Animist, a fantastic addition to the Battle for Zendikar block that I'd mistake for a real card.
Spare Parts by MrRansom, a somewhat versatile piece in an artifact deck. I think the combination of art and flavor text makes the piece, though.
Great job everyone! The prizes will be in shortly.
This can go two ways:
- Either make a card, intending it to be useless, and let other users try to combo with existing Magic cards.
- Or just make a card with a combo or combos in mind.

I'll have to get working on this!

Your opinion on the subject is no concern of mine. I have no self-pity, though I still pity something/someone :P
Just do as the contests instruct and you'll quickly acclimate to the forums, right @Corwinnn?
Just providing a little friendly advice

@strongbelieves Aberrant Mimicry is pretty interesting!
And sure, the Great Overlord Annie will allow old cards.
I made Selfpox and this is a remake, as I state in the comments.
What's the problem?

Donate works rather well with this, along with Harmless Offering. Dark Depths would work, but unless you play a creature each turn, you will take 10 damage as Marit Lage is indestructible and will not be destroyed.
