Alter Ego contest
I was reading about the development of the color purple(which almost got printed in Planar Chaos, btw.) when I read something that gave me an idea. They had planned to make two different legendary cards of the same person in the same set, to show multiple paths that person could have taken, conveying the idea of an alternate reality. I then decided to create a new mechanic: Alter Ego
Alter Ego (cost) (You may play this card for its Alter Ego cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield transformed)
Here is an example:
One side shows Ceyron as a noble knight, while one side shows how he fell to demonic power.
Here is the Challange: make a card with alter ego. Make a villager who becomes a hero, polar opposites, or anything you want, really.
~~~~Rules~~~~
-Three entries per smith (A card and its flip side together are a single entry)
-The card must use the Alter Ego Mechanic
-It doesn't have to be legendary.
-Contest ends August 27.
~~~~Prizes~~~~
1st: a follow and 3 favorites of choice
2nd: 2 favorites of choice
3rd: 1 favorite
If more people comment, I will appropriately up the prizes.
Good Luck!

The altered egos represented realities where something had changed the present and characters that we knew previously were drastically changed. Crovax became a hero, Akroma became an angel of fury, Braids went insane and focused on destruction. Making existing characters into new cards because something changed in their past is a neat idea.
Oh, and the past was changed I think due to the time rifts, right?

No, alter ego does not mean a transform card, it is a mechanic that causes a card to enter the battlefield transformed.
@substitutehero
That's perfect.
Glad you think so! I wanted to try out something a little bit off the creature-creature flip, so I'm pleased that it didn't throw things too far off.
Unfortunately, the spell she ended up casting was not quite so simple. http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/animate-electromancy
Oh yeah, I was talking about how a rare could transform into a common...
xD

@TrippleBoggey3 Hey, well Bruna manages to transform from a Rare into a Mythic, r-right?! Damn, I knew I'd made a mistake somewhere! They were meant both to be rare so as not to mess with limited.

The goal was to take the Jeskai colors and make something that is a bit more aggressive that can be used early, while the other side offers a more mid-range feel with the ability to bounce. I debated adding vigilance to the transformed part, but I thought that might be a bit too powerful since this is an uncommon card. Hence the lower values and the like.
Let's find out!

If I may, I think there is still some slight changes that could make it even more awesome:
1) Considering how immense the design space potentially is, I think the name "Alter Ego" is a little restricting ^^
2) Having the mana cost of the verso on the recto is a little weird. I think it woud be cleaner if it were just two regular cards with their own mana cost and "Alter Ego (Cast either the recto or verso of this card for its respective mana cost.)" or something along those lines.
3) Actually split cards don't have any indications, I think if you make a double-faced card with a mana cost on each side, people will get it immediatly. If you really want indication, maybe a supertype (like Basic or Legendary) instead of a keyword would help saving space. For instance "Alter Creature", "Pair Instant", or "Double Sorcery" I don't know x)
Anyway, I've been really impressed with your original idea! =D
That would probably be smart.
Sort of like a better fuse.
One reason to format it with boat costs on the front is so you don't have to flip it, but your idea is probably better.
