- Let's Get Specific -
Now, despite what you may have mentally prepped yourself for,
this contest is noninvasive, and perhaps quite fun! XD
Feast your eyes on this!
http://mtgsalvation.gamepedia.com/Token#Token_specific_types
That's right! There's a set of creature types that have been used specifically on tokens... UNTIL NOW!
Here's the list of creature types you're allowed to use:
- Camarid
- Homarid
- Caribou
- Citizen
- Deserter
- Germ
- Graveborn
- Orb
- Pentavite
- Pincher
- Prism
- Sand
- Saproling
- Serf
- Servo
- Splinter
- Survivor
- Tetravite
- Triskelavite
I'll try to keep the rules simple:
1. Cards must be both NEW (created for this contest) and ORIGINAL
2. The only card types allowed are Creature and Artifact Creature
3. Additional subtypes are perfectly fine (eg. Satyr Serf, Dwarf Deserter, etc.)
4. Don't use MTG artwork from actual cards and credit the artist
5. Any rarity (but lets see how many commons/uncommons we can get!)
6. No joke cards, realistic only
7. 3 entries per person (I'll only consider the 1 I believe the best from a unique smith)
8. Remake whatever whenever (Just let me know)
Prizes:
1st-3rd and honorable mentions will have their submissions favorited.
1st-3rd will be discussed in the Hall of Fame - http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/2135/hall-of-fame
1st: 1 favorite of his or her choice (at my discretion), and a token of them in this set: http://mtgcardsmith.com/user/Faiths_Guide/sets/5502
Some of you may not have been informed (or noticed), but I favorite only the cards that have won contests I've (co)hosted, this makes "Faiths_Guide Faves" very rare...
You have until the beginning of December. Good Luck All!

I glossed over the 'commons/uncommons' suggestion. I'll keep that in mind as I work on other entries.
I'll probably enter later.
Yeah, this card is most likely broken, but I loved the concept too much to change it. Maybe I should've made it a 2/1 and somehow restricted it to B/R decks, but that would involve making the text smaller, and that would make the card ugly.

Just for example (and inspiration).
- Elephant Citizen
- Centaur Deserter
- Elf Serf
- Dryad Survivor
Keep at it! I'm sure you'll think of something you really like soon!
It's very simple and straightforward, but I think it works (especially at common, thanks to New World Order). I also had another idea (for RG as well, coincidentally), let's see if I can turn it into an interesting mechanic.
Also the indestructibility would be crazy annoying. However, flavor and design-wise, I like it a lot!
I will concede the point on the damage, since that's actually the sort of thing that changes dramatically from set to set, especially at common. I think this could exist in a set where damage prevention or cheap removal was rampant, but it would also be terribly broken in a more austere set.
A potential compromise would be to add a {t} cost to the ability, have it deal 2, and only target creatures. I think that's more powerful than this in certain metas, but could also make her incredibly weak in others. If you'd prefer that change, I could make it. I consider both options to be equally acceptable.
I liked the idea of serfs being an oppressed/brainwashed/enslaved class, so I created a mechanic to reflect this.

Prove it! (You'd have to make two entries of course.)
