I propose a faction for Sunya, called the Thund. They are a mysterious race that first appeared on Sunya right after the starovek was discovered, but no one knows how. They are red or blue and use the mechanic Pulse (Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, you get {e}.)
I have one so far:
The Thund also seek the Staroveks, and frequently fight the planeswalkers for control.
@unicornsareevil13579 If they are both turned to 4/4s, they deal four damage to each other, and each lose four loyalty counters. Since they will then have no loyalty counters, and state based checks will say that they're dead.
Damage dealt to planeswalkers is still damage, which results in a loss of loyalty counters. There's a reason most gideons say to prevent all damage dealt to them while in creature form.
@Rednaxela I am all for including Energy and Pulse in Sunya, but what I would like is for you to explain why there's energy on the plane. Is there an Aether Sphere around the plane, like Kaladesh? Something else, maybe more fragile and artificial? Remember, this is the "Flavored Mechanics" round, so feel free to go into depth with your explanations. Tie energy to something already established, or establish something yourself to tie it to, and then tie it the Thunds to that. Do that, and you'll have a pretty good chance of placing.
I have a lot of cards to offer, but hopefully this does not count as spamming; I am simply trying to give plenty of examples.
A thought on lands; Sunya is supposed to be somewhat barren, am I right? Well wouldn't it be interesting to, hmmm, tweak the basic lands a bit? these lands may be hard to play with, but they will surely fit with the plane more, and will force players tho think of different ways to obtain mana. Examples: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/barren-mountain-1 http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/barren-island
Furthermore, since this plane is quick becoming a battle ground, I thought it might be interesting to create a few new keywords: Duel and Duelist. Dueling is similar to fighting; when a creature duels another creature, each creature deals damage to the other equal to their power. However, during a duel, no player can cast spells, or use the abilities of any permanent they control, except the abilities of the creatures dueling. Duelist is both a keyword, and a creature type; usually creatures of the type Duelist are the only creatures to have the duelist keyword, but I suppose there may be acceptable exceptions here and there. Duelist as a keyword activates when the creature duels, and usually gives a buff to the creature, or a debuff to the creature dueling it. Examples: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/draconic-duelist http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/shadow-duelist http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/dreadiron-duelist http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/lightning-duel
And finally, my current Planeswalker character, http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/varyn-bardic-harper , who will definitely want to get his hands on a Starovek. He also introduces one of my own kinds of counters: Inspiration counters! They are described in the comments of his card.
Annnd I believe that rather wraps it up for my ideas for Sunya as of yet. Hope ya like 'em!
Here is my take on Sunya: Maybe there is no life on Sunya, but there are the Golems. Created for some unknown purpose and discovered shortly after the discovery of the first Starovek. They need no food; their energy comes from the Staroveks and in turn they guard them. To represent the fact they are made from materials like stone or metal, they all have the ability (which I made for this contest) Natural Armor X. This ability (similar to Protection from something) Prevents the first X damage dealt to the creature by any source this turn. (it is important to note that this may be used as many times as you want; it doesn't only block the first damage dealt to it period). The Golems are artifact creatures spanning the entire color wheel, but they technically are colorless, as they all also have the ability Devoid (well, those that aren't colorless outright)
As for the Planeswalker, Saroven... He is an artificer that came to Sunya to get his hands on a Starovek. He wanted to figure out what they did and how they worked, so he could make his own. Once he got there however, after an encounter with a Golem he was instantly transfixed. He is now there learning all he can about these mysterious creatures
Oh! As for an explanation as to why there are suddenly duelists on Sunya, planeswalkers such as http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/gladian-sunlit-duelist might have found a way to open portals to Sunya from other planes to bring allies through (otherwise there may not be much in the way of creatures on Sunya; there can only be so many Thund).
EDIT: Sorry! I did not see the post about golems! That idea is epic! (It still might be interesting to include my duelists though....)
They are a highly intelligent race that are made of energy (So basically they are sentient clusters of energy). They aren't originally from sunya, and they don't have a home plane. They get energy from a mysterious energy source they call Ushzel, which they worship as a god but know next to nothing about. They do however consider Ushzel sentient because it moves from plane to plane usually to areas where a powerful artifact is located (Staroveks in this case). Also, Ushzel gives them Surges of power right before important conflicts. The Thund can't exist for long without the energy of Ushzel, so they follow it around from plane to plane. So as soon as the first starovrk was discovered, Ushzel moved to Sunya bringing the Thund along. The Thund leader Arkzek set up camp on a massive mountain they named Kezzarak. At first when only a few planeswalkers knew of the staroveks, they would send out scouts to retrieve them. These lone Thunds were usually easily dealt with by planeswalkers (Although they vary greatly in power). When more planeswalkers arrived and conflicts became more frequent, Arkzek decided to send his chief Strategist, Thrennex, to organize an army. The Thund army was soon created and sent to the various rumored locations of Staroveks. The lone, or small groups of planeswalkers (who frequently fought amongst each other) were no match for the new Thund army especially when Ushzel gave them a Surge. The planeswalkers might now have to work together and make an army of their own.
Oh, and @FireWolf767, I'd just thought you should know that Natural armor functions exactly the same as Absorb. If it gets put in, that would be the name used.
@touchstone Sure! Just thought that the flavor matched perfectly! Thank you for letting me know! Also, are the Golems fine? Like, is it OK they are all over the color pie?
Im calling planeswalkers sparks in all flavor text because I like it. If a planswalker does not have a subtype it will not kill other planeswalkers (even if they have the same name)
Not the most expandable mechanic, but could go on the odd creature in future sets or be good if there is another planes walker heavy set.
I think this is great for Sunya. The plane of Sunya is void of life, but that doesn't mean there are no beings here. The elementals of Sunya were giant intelligent and peaceful, nursing off the Staroveks. Then a spark showed up, then more, and for the most part the sparks were uninteresting, then they felt it. There knees felt weaker then usual, their arms got harder to move. They started searching to find what happened to their lost energy. That's when they realized what was going on. The sparks were everywhere, and amplified. They weren't getting weaker at all. Overwhelmed with rage the elementals doused the sparks until there was nothing. Then they found the Staroveks, each one radiating energy rejuvenating the tired elementals. determined to protect Sunya Tarot the oldest and strongest of all the elementals volunteered to protect all of the Staroveks while the others extinguish the flame that had spread across the plane and retrieve all of the stolen Staroveks.
Elementals wouldnt hurt the planeswalker war going on, if anything it would make the Staroveks more rare and harder to get, and make the war more intense.
Erremia does not know what plane shes from. She doesnt care. the moment her spark ignited she saw the potential. She then traveled from plane to plane killing planeswalkers and experimenting on them. Trying to unlock the secret to the spark. But the moment a planeswalker died the power died with them. She then started recruiting an army of followers, many of them were planeswalkers. All looking through the multiverse For an answer to how to realize the potential locked inside. When Sunya was descovered Erremia gathered her forces and came to take the plane by force. she was not expecting so much resistance. The plane was in total chaos, War being waged in every corner. After a month of fighting she finaly got her hands on a Starovek.
common palnswalkers might not be that good but I made the culltist common so you can get an Idea of what 'subtypeless' planswalkers could add to the set.
Sorry I know I'm not suppose to explain my cards this much but i felt like it :P
Also I don't like the word douse so if anyone has a better word that would be greatly appreciated.
Douse can also be used by planeswalkers to amplify the theme of planeswalkers fighting planeswalkers
@unicornsareevil13579 could we stick to small pictures please. also you don't have to make a new post for every new card, you can edit them into one post. that's what I'm gonna do.

Yes, actually.
Invent (a token) - (Create a token. Activate this ability only if no players control this token.)
Feel free to use it.
