  • @FireWolf767 Being in all colors is fine (we'll need some tribes with human-like spread-outness, seeing how planeswalkers are really the only living things on the plane).

@unicornsareevil13579 I normally wouldn't do this, but I'm going to put a strike on Heartless. Since this a custom set that aims to emulate official MTG sets, +1/-1 counters are a no-go, unless they were going to be a major theme, akin to energy counters (which, with 4 mechanics/themes going into Sunya, there's not really a place for). If you're set on it, you can use it as an entry, but as it stands, it would be +1/-1 counters and Heartless or Energy and Pulse.
  • @touchstone that's cool. i'll remove it

@touchstone can you please give me feedback on my elemental idea on the last page. I just want to now if they are allowed in your "lifeless" plane. I gave backstory so you can see what I was thinking.

Also what is your rule on non-mythic planeswalker.
What about non-Legendary planeswalkers. (these ones would have to have a written in rule that you can have more then one)
  • @Wackosaru I'm fine with giving feedback on ideas, but I need to leave something for judging! The main reason I haven't said anything on your idea is because it's pretty solid as it stands. Douse is an interesting mechanic, and there's nothing that needs to be immediately changed.

As for non-mythic planeswalkers, I'm not totally against them, but you have to be careful. Sunya will have to be a pretty planeswalker heavy set as it is, so I'm not sure about putting them into rare.

Non-legendary planeswalkers are pretty much a no, unless you can explain how there's two (or more) copies of an interplanar being on the world at the same time (best is some time-travel shenanigans, but that may be a stretch).
  • @Wackosaru not to go against @touchstone but you could make a spell like...
create a planeswalker thats' a copy of another target planeswalker except both may stay on the battlefield

    Or something similar

    @touchstone

    1. I was not asking about my mechanic. Though I love feedback thx. I was asking if elementals were alowed on a lifeless plane.

    2. As for non-legendaries I was thinking that ALL planeswalkers would be here (near pre-mending yes please) some could make guildes and the recruites could have certain jobs to do. Its a stretch so No is a good answer. But i can provide an example tomorrow.

    3. Non mythics might be cool. This could be a real mess of planswalkers and truly if they are all here there should be more planeswalkers then creatures. (Another reason non-legendaries would be good)

    4. I did not ask this earlier but what about basic lands. The lack of life would suggest a lack of mana on the plane. How could forests and swamps even exist. Ive got some ideas for these but they are very far fetched. Could we have some explanation for this. Thats why i made my elemental not green

This is not a debate forum so I will delete this comment if you want.

@Wackosaru Ah, my apologies. Misunderstood you. Elementals are fine, because while the plane is lifeless, elementals aren't exactly living beings in the first place.

What has happened on the plane is undefined as of now, this round really only focuses on the mechanics and the characters, so that next round, we can actually start shaping the story.

As for the amount of planeswalkers vs. creatures, these are planeswalkers. The way I think about it, they have a "deck" of their own. Non-native creatures are there because they were summoned by a planeswalker, and probably one or two planeswalkers will take on the task of revitalizing the plane.

Basic lands are interesting, but the best way I have come to explain it is that mana and aether manifests itself differently than on most planes. The Staroveks are manifestations/channeling devices of mana, but incredibly vibrant. So vibrant that most fragile forms of life, such as grass or trees, are "burned out", and can't live on the plane. All mana is present on the plane, just in quantities not exactly good for life. I'd love to see personal interpretations of how basic lands could exist, however.

Actually, if you do something like unicornsareevil13579 said, I wouldn't mind. That's actually a cool way to do non-legendary planeswalkers, given that the spell effect says something along the line of "Create a token that's a copy of target planeswalker. The planeswalker uniqueness rule doesn't apply to the token or target planeswalker for as long as either remain on the battlefield." It's wordy, so it should probably go on permanents.

Also, don't worry about the "debate". Part of this is worldbuilding, so tossing around ideas isn't forbidden. However, since there are conflicting ideas present, only the winners will have their ideas placed in the set (unless the idea just works).
  • @unicornsareevil13579 I'm hesitant to include a new basic land type when Wastes didn't even get one. Especially considering how much more powerful Domian-like effects become once you do add more.
  • @unicornsareevil13579 for that to work you would need to be able to cast colored creatures

Mechanic I've developed is Subordinate; it's a named ability that always gets better if you control a planeswalker. Since it's so simple, and since apparently there will be a high as-fan of planeswalkers in the set, I felt it would be appropriate in small doses.

  • Yes rocks only produce mana if you cast creatures since sunya is barren.

Would it be better if it was any mana of a creature you control on the battlefield and make it non-basic
  • An interesting idea is to use Wastes for something other than Eldrazi, and have {C} costs represent the native creatures of the plane.
  • Best idea would be to figure out how to fit forests and swamps into the plane. If we cant use them then the set will be pretty bad
  • Presumably the plane has great quantities of mana, so you might have to do some tweaking. In Kaladesh, for example, Swamps can be sewers. In Sunya, Plains and Mountains can be desolated wastelands, Swamps and Islands can be murkwater of different depths, and Forests can be petrified/calcified/charred tree skeletons, or a veritable forest of magical crystals, perhaps.
  • Reminder for people (Especially @Unicornsareawesome.): Most people can't handle British English. We'd all prefer American English.
  • @TrippleBoggey3 Is that a formal rule of the forums?

@ShadowKnight1224 - No, it's not. That was an opinion based on personal sentiment, and not an official, nor accurate statement, as most people can probably figure out the majority of your colourful typing and phrasing... afterall, Magic players tend to be pretty smart folks.... except for that one guy... but he got banned.
(we promised not to say his name)
    XD
@Wackosaru - Debates are totally acceptable here. As long as things don't get crazy, and you stick to topics that are relevant to MTGCardsmith and the thread you're on, you'll be fine.
  • @Corwinn Thank you for the clarification! :)
  • I'm not saying there is a right and a wrong way....
But if there was Colour would be the right way
  • American motto - "Simpler is Better"

Our language is the most confused of all the languages as it draws on so many (practically all).

    I like "Color" -
  • Given that this is a fan website and we are under no pressure to take sides, let us simply not. :)

Guys!!! there is an awesome plane her which needs awesome mechanics.
  • As a British English speaker, I find it annoying to have to use American English. Theatre, centre, colour, tenderise. It just feels better! Theater, center, color, tenderize. (Shivers inside).
  • Im canadian and i dont care
