Rise from the Ashes (Closed)
One of the most interesting creature types for me are phoenixes. Not only they're red fliers, but they also tend to have an ability returning them from graveyard – that makes them really unusal in red. So, as the name suggests, your task is to create the coolest phoenix card.
Rules:
– Entries must have the Phoenix subtype, there are no limitations in the supertype (the only one is that it can't be a planeswalker whose name is Phoenix)
- Cards you make should represent the cycle of life and death of those creatures (returning from grave, etc.)
- Don't use old cards please, it makes it more difficult for the new entries to shine.
- max 2 entries
Bonus points for:
- fitting art
- uncommon or common rarity (you can't fit as much complexity in them)
- aesthetically pleasing cards (correct wording, no bleeding outside of the text box)
End date: 5th of January
Prizes:
1st place - favourite on your entry and one other card you choose, help with wording on up to three cards
2nd place - favourite on your entry, help with up to two cards
3rd place - favourite on your entry, help with one card
Honorable mentions will get a favourite on their entry.
Feedback will be given on every entry, so keep an eye on the discussion under your cards. Happy smithing!

You know the first Fav I've gotten was from you!
I have that art down (one I almost used) as being from the artist Jaan-Paul Van Eeden.
Thanks for the notice! I made a note of it in the card's comment section.
A creature specifically designed for a superfriends deck, and even though I know some are really good playing literally like nothing other than walkers, I always find it more enjoyable when I have some defending creatures. This one comes back to help if you're out of defenders though
@TrippleBoggey3 I've been present on mtgcs lately, but none of the contests really inspired me to make cards, so that's why I started this.
Feel free to let everyone know what you want over here:

We'll help in whatever way we can!
Here's my entry. I'm not hugely familiar with burn/boardwipe so it might be imbalanced though.

Also, bump.
Judging soon?
Sorry, the return to school is a bit hectic for me, so I really don't have time to judge this right now.
Edit: You're supposed to cast the phoenix side, but we don't have the transform borders so I'm not sure how to make that clear on the cards.

EDIT: KJMartin, I promise I didn't steal your art.

Well... at least we can all agree that Sandara is a good artist for MTG cards, right?
There was a fair amount of entries and most of them were really well designed, but there can be only one winner (yeah, and a 2nd and 3rd place, and some honorable mentions...)!
So, without further fuss, honorable mentions:
Gilt-Leaf Phoenix by @MrRansom - I couldn't actually include in the winning places, because a phoenix in green feels terribly off. On the other hand, the design was well executed, and it makes sense. So be it.
Cenyidir's Companion by @RohanDragoon - Also an interesting concept, but I can't imagine a defensive phoenix because of flavour reasons.
***
3rd place: Phoenix of a New Generation by @HeroClixer - Simple, effective. A common red creature with flying couldn't be printed, but this gets really close to imitating how a common phoenix would look like.
2nd place: Halimar Phoenix by @Gelectrode - By effect, it seems to me more as a Ravnican Izzet thing, than a Zendikari Halimar thing, but that doesn't really matter. So much fun stuffed into a single card. It's that sort of card you cast and laugh like a madman, while the other players stare at it in confusion - the exact type of card I love.
1st place: Heartland Phoenix by @TheClayKnight - Wow. This is a really creative way to show the infinite cycle of life and death without actually using graveyard. The land subtypes are a bit redundant, but overall it has a great fusion of flavour and playability.
Winners, PM me anytime which cards do you need help with. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Congrats @Winners and @Mentionables! Thanks for the contest @Flatfish!
